Chapter 1: The Desire For Something
I was on my way home that day, tired and hungry from a whole day of school. My mind was empty, I was walking ... just walking without a destination. The feeling of emptiness continued, I couldn't hear the noise, can't see what's in front of me. While being swallowed by my own thoughts, I stopped dead in my tracks. A blue-winged butterfly danced in front of me, in awe I stared at it. Without thinking I followed it, walking across an unfamiliar scene, I felt twigs breaking under my feet, leaves rustling as a gust of wind just flew by. After awhile the butterfly decided to fly upwards, it flew faster till I can't find it anymore. Snapping out of it, I looked around and told myself "oh I'm definitely lost". I walked for a couple of minutes till I spotted what seems to be a cottage, I walked towards it and found a sign that says "PVD".
The next thing I knew, I have already stepped into the cottage. My eyes roamed around, trying to take in the scenery that I went in to. I scanned the place from left to right and slowly released the small tension I had in me. The place I went in to seems to be a gift shop. My eyes glowed with the sight of the cute stuffed toys in front of me. A voice then suddenly called me "Hi, welcome to PVD, take anything that will catch your eyes but remember to not be greedy and take only one okay?", I was dumbfounded, free? Even though I had my doubts I let myself roam around and look at the displayed toys. A passed by a doll with a little red dress, a nutcracker with a shiny sword, and a wooden toy car.
With a bit of searching, I found an isle for teddy bears and immediately hopped towards it. I held the first bear that my hands managed to reached and patted its head, I put that one down and reached for the one beside it, stroking its fur. I could feel my smile from ear to ear and it slightly hurts, I danced around while skimming through the displayed bears. I did not stop until a big brown bear with a cute small bow tie caught my attention. It was so cute so I decided to bring that one with me but before I could even take a step away from where I got the brown bear, I spotted a white-colored bear on top of one shelf. I looked at the bear on my arms and back at the bear on the top shelf, and immediately dropped the brown bear and proceeded to jump up and down trying to reach the bear. I huffed loudly after a dozen tries and decided to give it another try, I crouched and sprung myself upwards, I can almost reach it, or so I thought as I slowly fall down backward. After a thud, I laid down on the floor with my eyes wide open, "why can't I reach you, I was this close!".
With the feeling of defeat, I got up and brushed the dusk off myself. I gave the white bear one last glance before trying to reach out to the brown bear, which to my surprise was already missing from the spot where I left it. I hurriedly searched for it, on the floor, from where I originally found it, even at the aisle for the other toys, the brown bear was nowhere to be found. I then approached the caretaker of the place and asked if he saw a brown bear with a black bow tie, he replied with "another girl has already claimed that item, just go pick another one". I was so frustrated when I heard this, I ran back towards the teddy bear aisle and grabbed the first bear I could reach. I went back to the guy and said "this one please" he looked at me with a confused face "are you sure you want this" I nodded firmly and he led me to the exit.
I was then walking aimlessly once again after I got out, and as if my day couldn't get any worse, the rain started to pour lightly and I then finally realized which bear I brought along with me, I then smiled as water starts dripping from my chin.
