Chapter 12: Drop your act
Sebastian was giving her a bouquet of roses which puzzled Adriana.
' One moment he is shouting at me and the other moment he's giving me flowers. What is he trying to prove by this kind of behavior'. Adriana was fuming red with anger.
" What's the meaning of this? There's no one around so you can drop your act."
Sebastian was actually testing the idea which had struck him after seeing the diary last night. He then insisted her to take it. He knew that Adriana had serious allergic reaction to flowers and so even if she had lost her memories that doesn't mean that her body has changed. The biological response to allergies can't be effected by injuries. He had already consulted it with his doctor. However the next thing shocked him.
Adriana refused to accept the flowers. Sebastian thought that she was refusing them due to her allergy but her words surprised him.
" I can't accept this as I can't promise you to be there with you forever. Afterall we are just partners bound in a contract and you should even refrain yourself from making such empty promises" Her voice sounded distant like she was too far from his reach.
Sebastian tried to clear his confusion, " What empty promises and who asked you to stay forever".
".." Adriana was silent not knowing what to say then she clearly explained him, " Ain't you trying to propose me by giving this nine roses. Don't you want to give them to me representing your eternal love. "
"And how do you know " Sebastian questioned her instead of answering her.
" I don't know how. I..I just know . It doesn't matter how " Adriana don't clearly recalled but she can feel the déjà vu . She felt like she received this kind of bouquet before but when she tried to point out when or how , her head would be a mess. The only thing she can feel while tracing her mind was a wall that prevented her from her past. Whenever she tried to break the wall, her headache would start kicking in, so she stopped thinking forcibly and took the bouquet from his hand .
" Okay I have accepted them and now you can leave. " Adriana threw the bouquet on the the trash can hoping that he would feel disheartened and start avoiding her but by doing so she had actually confirmed Sebastian's doubt.
Sebastian on the other hand was feeling like his thoughts were running in the correct direction and so he left her office dialing Fabian's number on his phone.
Adriana was irritated by her own thoughts, on one hand she wanted to distance herself from Sebastian but when she saw him leaving her office, a wave of pain hitted her . On other hand she also wanted to ask him to stay . But she controlled herself by saying that this was all for her own good.
Adriana wanted to stop him from leaving but she had to stop herself from falling too deep for Sebastian. Afterall she has to return to her own life , her own place.
'My place, my home, is there one for her. Is someone even looking for me feeling worried about me, thinking how I am , death or alive. ' Adriana was lost in her thinking when her phone started ringing.
It was her father's call reminding her about the date of party, saying her that he has sended the invite and she would have to keep his head high in the gathering .
Melissa informed her that the intern assistant she hired would be joining them from the next day and the party would be held next week.
"Ma'm , the fashion fiesta is next month so don't you think that it's too early for us to prepare the dress . I mean what if our designs get stolen , you know that it's quite common in our business. " Melissa was concerned about the event as she knew it would be grand.
"You don't have to worry about this kind of stuff just keep tab on everyone's progress. I don't want to see anyone slacking." Adriana replied in calm voice.
"But ma'm you know that all the employees can't be trusted , don't you think that the security must be at least increased."
" You want to say that I can't protect my work? Do I have to prove my power to you." Adriana asked with a sly smile.
Melissa's face turned white due to fear. She knew that her position was not of someone who can question Adriana's power and neither did she wanted to loose her job so she instantly tried to cleanly change the topic, "It's nothing like that ma'm. I just came to remind you that you must prepare yourself a dress for the party as you know Mr. Haden never leaves a chance to defame you . Why don't you take Sir Sebastian with you. He'll surely steal Mr. Haden's limelight.
"Well your suggestion is good but I have other plans. Don't you think it would be more refreshing to steal the limelight yourself"
Melissa saw the devilish smile on her boss's face .
'It looks like there would be great drama at the party'. Melissa kept her thoughts to herself and went back to her cabin to attend the pile of work.
