Chapter 1: Chapter 1

I was chosen. I never dreamed I would find myself anywhere close to the crown or to Prince kai's heart. As the end of the year approaches and more people realising I'll be the next queen to the throne the threats outside the palace walls grow more vicious. Things began to go down as I found out my future husband, soon going to be King Kai has kissed another girl behind my back, leaving traces of heartbreaks and broken trust. Till Prince Nick, Kai's royal cousin arrived to stay over till the country wasn't at risk. Leaving me falling in love with the royal cousins.

Kate brushed the knots out of my hair. Even with it trimmed shorter, it was still a serious task considering how thick it was. I secretly hoped she would take her time. These were one of those things which reminded me of home. I was picturing the white tinge of home and hearing my mother hum over the constant sound of delivery vans. Samantha ran to the door, and the second after she opened it, she dropped to a curtsy. ''Your highness.''

Crossed my arms over my chest, feeling incredibly vulnerable. The nightgowns were made out of thin material. ''Kate,'' I whispered urgently. She peeked from her curtsy. ''My robe. Please''.

She rushed to get it as I turned my face to Nick.''Your highness. How kind of you to visit.'' I curtsied quickly, then opened my arms out wide to hug him.

''I was wondering if you might join me for lunch''

''Right now?'', I said.

Kate handed me my robe, and I swooped it on. I discreetly searched for my slippers, spotted them by my bed, and went to put them on. Nick strode over to the door, trying not to laugh. Then looked at me and extended his arm. I bit at my smile as I went to join him. Even now, as we made our way through the halls, He wasn't exactly taking his time. We came to a set of open doors, and even from the hall way I could feel the fresh air. The room was filled by nothing but candles, I actually had to touch my chest to make sure everything was alright.

''Ladies first,'' he said.

I couldn't stop smiling as I approached. We were alone. he'd done this for me. It was every dream I'd had as a girl coming true. Before I could say anything a royal palace guard charged in.

''Sorry to interrupt your highnesses, theres an emergency. We need you downstairs'' , He said as he got something stuck in his throat, making it hard for him to speak. Nick nodded and grabbed my hand, leading me somewhere with the guard by my side. Nick and I ran down the hall and stairs as quickly as I could, nearly stepping twice on the steps. When I got to the first floor, Kai was there, talking intently to a guard. I ran up to him, forgetting about everything from the past two days.

''Are they all right?'', I asked, trying not to cry.'' How bad is it?"

''what?'' he asked, taking me in for an expected hug.

''My family and everyone else. Are they okay?''

Quickly Kai held me in his arms length and looked me in the eye. All the things he has done to me slowly fled away. ''They're fine, June. I'm sorry; I should of realised thats what you would have thought first.''

I was so relieved. ''There are rebels in the palace''

''What, why aren't we hiding then?''

''There not here to attack'', Nick said as he dismissed a guard.

''Then why are they here?'', I looked back at Kai.

Kai sighed. ''It's because-''. The lights went out.
