I looked around I could immediately tell that we weren't in Beacon Academy anymore. I could taste the salty hair and feel the cool ocean breeze against my skin. We were in a port town, but where were we or when are we. There were so many questions that I didn't have answers to and all I know is that we're stuck wherever we are because Eve opened the book. I glanced over my shoulder and see Eve sitting on top of a wooden barrel. She looked worried and seemed to be staring at something behind me. I turned back around and look at a building that said, "Welcome to Pelican Beach Harbor". I glanced around the harbor to see various men and women at work transporting cargo, setting out to fish, and selling essential tools for people coming into the town. Just to make sure, I go up to one of the stalls and try to gather information. Apparently, we were on the continent of Anima which is a long distance away from home. Not only that it seems that no one had any scrolls which sent out a lot of red alarms in my head. So not only are we in a place we have never been before but were also in a different time period. I guess it's self-explanatory that our money isn't worth anything here either. I went over to Eve and explained the predicament we're in.
Jack: What's the worst that can happen? Isn't that what you said.
Eve: I never expected to be transported to another time period with no weapons.
Jack: Yeah, I didn't have any of my weapons on me either so I'm in the same boat as you.
Eve: If the book transported us to the past because of the chapter the Dark Phantom, then maybe it will send us back if we catch him.
Jack: That's great. We just have to find a very specific needle in a stack that's full of needles.
Eve: I get that your upset, but can you try to be less sarcastic.
Jack: I specifically told you not to open the book, but you did it anyway.
Eve: Nothing ever gets done by sitting down and doing nothing. I think you know that more than me.
Jack: Yeah, sorry.
Eve: We need to find a job or at least a place to sleep before sunset.
Jack: It's early afternoon, so all the fishing boats would've long since gone out already.
Eve: Maybe we could check around for some odd jobs around the town.
Eve and I looked all over town but we couldn't find any work no matter where we looked. Hours passed by before we knew it and the sky was starting to turn dark with no money and no place to sleep we were both starting to panic a little bit. While we were busy trying to find jobs to do, we also asked around about the Dark Phantom. Apparently, he was a notorious killer who attacks people seemingly at random, though some say he only targets the wicked while others say its just sport for him. Either way, the only useful information we got from the townspeople was that he only attacks at night so looking for him during the day was futile. We heard of an abandoned shack outside of town that we could probably stay for the night, but before we could even attempt to find it we were blocked by an invisible wall. No matter where we tried to leave, we couldn't leave the confines of the town. This obviously supports Eve theory that we have to find the Dark Phantom if we want to leave here. Our wandering eventually led us to the Old Barnacle and it was an inn for people that stopped into town. We had no money so we had no choice but to beg to stay the night otherwise we would be out int he streets. We walked inside the inn and met an old man in his late fifties telling us that we would have to get his boss's permission if they wanted to stay here for free. He directed us toward the bar a little further in and told us that the owner is the bartender working there. We walked up and found a nice little bar with a few people in it. The women working as there looked to be in her early twenties wearing a one-piece black dress with a white scarf wrapped around her neck. She was a dark-skinned woman with a slim figure and ears that looked like those of an elf.
Jack: Hey, my name is Jack and this is my companion Eve.
Eve: Hello.
Jessica: My name is Jessica and I am the owner of this fine establishment. What can I get you today?
Jack: We actually have a favor to ask you.
Jessica: Oh, do tell.
Jack: We were hoping to stay the night for free.
Jessica: Now why would I do that if I'm in the business of making a profit.
Jack: I was hoping that we could work it off by working for you. I am confident that I can add some delicious food to your menu and clean various rooms spotless.
Jessica: That's great but I love my female staff so if anyone's going to be working here it's going to be Eve.
Jack: Eve, are you up for it?
Eve: Yeah, but I don't know how good I'll be.
Jessica: Wonderful. I'll have Jeffrey teach you the ropes but before that, I insist that you try my new drink.
Eve: We're not old enough to drink yet.
Jessica: Don't be such a downer its just one drink. Besides, I might just change my mind about the room if you don't drink any.
Eve: Are you threatening us?
Jessica: Walks like a duck, talks like a duck.
Jack: Then it must be a duck. Well, no use getting out of it.
Jessica: Great. It's called Scarlet Rose Wine.
Jessica pours both of us a glass to drink. I drink the glass and can feel a cool, refreshing feeling encompass my body. My head seems to float for a second as I experience pure bliss. I never drink, but I wouldn't mind getting drunk of this wine. I have to resist the urge to drink more honestly. Afterward, we asked Jessica about the Dark Phantom and she says that he must be an amazing person to kill and steal various items from different people without getting caught. Just imagine the skill it would take for him to do it. Jessica seemed like a devout fan-girl as we listened to various different stories about him. One thing that bothered me was that I seemed way more tired than usual. Probably just exhausted from going through all my classes at Beacon and then having to explore an entire city in the span of one day. Eventually, I couldn't stay awake anymore and fell asleep at the bar.
