Jake got home after a 1 1/2 hour drive. He didn't notice how bad traffic was or how much sweat was pouring down his forehead. He only noticed he was home when he walked up to their front door and saw a note from his lola:
"Went to Tiray's, be back late afternoon, salad and fruits in the ref"
Jake plopped down the couch and fell asleep. When he woke up it was already dark. He called out for lola pacing but there was no reply. "She's probably asleep already", he thought, when his cellphone rang....
"Don't talk, just listen", the voice said, as soon as he answered the phone. "This is Caryn. You don't know me, but you need to stay calm and believe everything i say..."
Jake nodded as he listened to Caryn when lola Pacing entered the front door. He then ended the call, said goodnight to lola, and proceeded to his room. As soon as he got in, he locked the door and was frantically calling back Caryn.
"Caryn, I believe you. Lola Pacing's eyes were all black and there was blood on the edge of her dress! Why was she holding the box Mikah gave me???" What's happening?" Jake said, his breathe getting heavier as his heartbeat went faster.
"Relax, i'll be there in a bit", Caryn replied.
Jake almost let out a shriek when the lights went out. Only then did he notice the terrible storm brewing outside. Thunder felt like it was clawing its way into their ceiling. 30 seconds passed, and the lights went on again. He was surprised to find the box on his bed, as he saw lola Pacing walking into the full mirror just beside his closet. He called out to her, and as she looked back, Jake fell to the floor in horror, only to see a mischievous grin and piercing red eyes that replaced his grandmother's calming features.
Mr. Ignacio was hesitant to move. He closed and opened his eyes hoping it was all a bad dream, but it wasn't. The grotesque image was just there, staring at him as he finally had the courage to grab the box, his keys, and run to his car.
He could see the silhouette of a girl in his car. He assumed it was Caryn, jumped in, and quickly drove away.
