Chapter 102: The Final Goodbyes
The next day....
Prakash drove Sonal to the Arora mansion; but now they were on their way to Mehra Tv. On their way, Prakash asked Sonal how she was faring at work. She replied, its tasky and challenging and speaking about work, that reminds me, Jumpa my colleague and a few other colleagues of mine mentioned that Mr. shamu, who used to be the entertainment anchor at Mehra Tv has been lurking around the building lately, and most especially around my car. Well at first no one knew who was lurking around my car.
There was a day I drove myself to work, the driver had an emergency at home, and the second driver was on leave. That faithfull day, Jumpa went out to get the Pizza she ordered, surprisingly, she saw someone around my car, who was acting suspicious, she called one of the security men to keep an eye on my car afterwards.
I demanded that the CCTV's be checked later that day, it was then discovered that mr. Shamu was the culprit. Well it was surprising, but why would he do that? why was he after me? we wondered, I don't remember ever harming him in any way, I only came to know him when we were both seeking employment here at Mehra TV. Before I went home, I called my mechanic to check my car, it turned out that the breaks were tampered with. That day, Jumpa and I had to take an Uber back home.
Babe all this happened to you and you didn't tell me about it all this time? But thank the Almighty, nothing happened to you. I would have taken care of that guy for you; just lean on me, baby. And this mr. Shamu, I might know him, Prakash replied, packed his car by the road side, then continued, I might also have an idea why he did that but I will investigate further if there is more to why he did it.
He brought out his phone, and after few minutes of going through it, he showed Sonal a picture. Is this the guy, the Shamu? Yes that is him, but how do you know him? Sonal asked and returned his phone to him. Well twinkle my ex girlfriend cheated on me with him, he scrolled down his phone and said, oh look at that, they are still together, she is all over his story on facebook.
Oh babe, I am really sorry. All this is happening to you because of me, twinkle must be jealous of you, she must have sent Shamu to harm you, she wanted to make me suffer. Well she spent a whole year begging me to take her back when I broke up with her, after I discovered she was cheating on me with him. I had no choice but to get a restraining order against her. And few months ago, she contacted Desha, Desha told me about it and I told her not to give her a listening ear.
Don't worry dear, just leave Shamu and twinkle to me, I would take care of them, just be careful around work, Prakash told Sonal, inwardly he was angry, he couldn't even protect his love, his just didn't show it because he was driving, and he didn't want Sonal to be worried. He made a mental note to deal ruthlessly with Twinkle and especially Shamu. I will Love, just make sure you come in one peace from Africa, your family and I will be waiting for you in one piece, Sonal replied. I will dear, Prakash said and soon they were back on the road.
At Prahtab Company....
Yash looked at the photos displayed on his cell phone screen, the more he looked at it, the more he got angry. It was a photo of Sonal and an unknown guy in a car. In the photo, the guy was backing the camera. Kritu had sent it to him a few minutes ago. Kritu was running errands for his dad in the early hours of the morning. He packed his car and came down, as he was moving away, a guy approached him and asked for directions. In his attempt to give the guy directions, his eyes fell on Sonal inside a car with a guy.
He quickly snapped them, and finished giving the guy the directions. He did not know what Sonal and that guy were talking about, but looking at them, it looked like an important discussion with a loved one. Before he could find out who the guy was, to have a better view and snap, he drove off with Sonal.
He called Yash, who was already at Prahtab Company. In the pasts, Yash usually goes very late to work, and some days he doesn't show up at all. What gives him the saving grace is that he always met his target at work by hook or by crook. But lately he had a fallout with Father Prahtab, who threatened to pass Prahtab Company to his younger brother, brother Prahtab. Initially he tried to get free promos for the company from Sonal, Sonal did not give him a listening ear, he had to change his strategy by coming very early to work ever since just to be back on his father's good books.
Also Sonal barely received his calls, the day she does, she responds to him very coldly, more cold than usual, she even hangs up on him at times. Now he was beginning to connect the dots, Sonal has been cheating on him with another man. With this thoughts in his mind he screamed and threw away all the documents and files on his table; how dare she, he said to himself 5 times. He screamed so loud and made a ruckus in his office.
His secretary came running inside; sir are you okay? she asked him and started picking up the documents and files on the ground, but Prakash threw her out of his office literally. He told her to get out of his office at first, but because she has been intimate with him lately, she thought she would be able to calm him down. She stopped what she was doing and tried going close to him, this made Prakash more angry, that was when he decided to throw her out of his office literally.
She almost fell outside of his office, but luckily for her, she was able to stop herself from falling by holding on to her table just outside Yash's office; her work table is close to Yash's office door. She felt embarrassed and wondered why Yash was this angry. Her head was slightly down, but she was relieved when she looked up and no one was in the waiting room.
She collected herself together, went back to her work table and continued with her work. She now made a mental note to always mind her business in the office, especially with matters that does not concern her. It took about 2 minutes into her resuming her work when Yash suddenly came out of his office angrily and told her to clean up his office before he comes back.
She stood up, bowed her head and replied yes sir. Yash stepped out and was on his way to Sonal's work place. In the lobby, he stumbled upon Father and Brother Prahtab and some of his colleagues who were on their way to the board room for a very crucial meeting. Though meeting times were 10am every Monday, this Monday was very crucial, therefore the meeting was slated for 8 am. He was so angry that he had forgotten about the meeting.
Meeting now, Father Prahtab spoke to him, he wanted to disobey but Brother Prahtab happily said to him, be my guest big bro, out the door, Prahtab Company is all mine. Yash turned his fist to a ball, he was in his father's bad books, if he created a scene and embarrass the family, his father won't think twice this time before throwing him out. His father does not believe in 3rd chances. He can give a second chance, which Yash already got.
What has been saving Yash all these years from being kicked out by his father is that Yash always managed to take advantage of his second chances, this automatically meant that the initial fault had been erased and forgiven according to Father Prahtab.
At Mehra TV
Prakash and Sonal hugged for so long that Sonal's colleagues jokingly told them to get a room. Prakash didn't visit Mehra Tv often in the past, he was focused more with Mehra conglomerates. Sonal's colleagues who saw him were mostly new recruits who were employed when he was away in the military base, so they did not know who he was. Sonal was never cozy and huggy with Yash the few times he came. He came not because he missed her but because he wanted a favour. None of her colleagues figured she was matched together by their families to get married to him.
It was only Jumpa who knew, but she had no concrete idea about her and Prakash, although she suspected. Sonal and Prakash broke off their hugs and wished themselves goodbye. Prakash entered his car and drove back to Mehra Mansion. Jumpa was running late so she did not see Prakash. Although she would have if Sonal had allowed Prakash walk her inside her office.
When Prakash was no longer in site, Sonal with a smile on her face went inside. Few minutes later, Jumpa came. The first thing she noticed was the joyful Sonal, she tried to get Sonal to talk. Spill girl she said as she dropped her hand bag on her table. Oh it's nothing, Sonal replied. Don't tell me it's nothing when your face is all shades of smiles girl, Jumpa replied.
Sonal was not putting on her engagement ring; luckily for her, she had just removed it and put it inside her handbag before Jumpa came. Well! you know the story with the military base, you know I would be covering the story with an assistant? I would have the opportunity to see dad again. Myself and mum hardly see him, Sonal lied about why she was happy. Jumpa wasn't a bad friend, but the less people know about her and Prakash, the better for them both, especially because the issues with her and Yash haven't actually been solved yet.
At the Military Base...
Soldier Ishaan wondered why the soldiers Ajay, Pulkit and Sagar were very nice and friendly to him especially because of the way himself and the his other soldier friends has been treating them. Naturally Soldiers Ajay, Pulkit and Sagar were nice soldiers, but to make an attempt to be friends with him was on another level. He thought to himself, maybe they want to know his secretes, what he does and how he does them.
So he told them, especially Ajay, you guys might have helped me out, by pulling me out from the quicksand today, it doesn't mean we are friends now, you won't have a clue of how I succeed, you won't add my skill to yours, infact, I would be the one to pull you guys down, so that you don't make the indian troops, then he jugged away.
You welcome, Pulkit told him, say that to the rest of your guys who abandoned you to die in the quicksand, Sagar replied him, see you in the next drill, Ajay said to him. As Ishaan Jugged away, he turned back and looked at the soldiers jugging behind him one last time, then he decided to increase his pace. Soon he was far away from them and the rest of the soldiers in the military base. He later ended up finishing the drill as number one. He praised himself and did not give credit to his saviours who motivated him indirectly.
At Mehra Mansion....
Prakash together with the priest and the rest of the family was at the Delhi's Sacred River. After the incantations, cousin Mehra poured the ashes of his late father, uncle Mehra. Soldier Kunj went with them, shared a silent cry with the rest of the men of the Mehra family while the women of the family cried out. That was the final goodbyes to uncle Mehra. As his ashes flowed down the sacred river, everyone left one after the other. Soldier Kunj left second to the last, but Prakash who left last, stayed for extra 10 minutes, goodbye uncle, he said and left.
