Chapter 100: Give Me Great Grand Kids.
Yuvi needed to use the restroom, but he was finding it difficult to get in his wheel chair. He was in so much pain, the painkillers he took were beginning to wear off, it was almost time for his evening medicine, he needed to eat first. The maid that was sent to give him his food, had not come yet. Yuvi tried one more time before he heard a knock on the door.
He thought it was the maid, he was a bit relieved, he can ask her to help him get in his wheelchair, he said come in. But to his surprise, it was Sonal who entered, why is she still here? he asked himself inwardly, it was night fall and all guests and well wishers were expected to have left, even his Alvni had gone home, so he thought. While he was yet to figure out the reason Sonal was still around and in his room, Prakash entered.
He looked even more surprised, big bro Prakash and sis Sonal together, today must be dream, he thought, but the sharp pain that welcomed him brought him back to reality. He groaned in pains as he greeted, namaste big bro, namaste sis, I wasn't expecting any more visitors at this hour. As he was saying it, he was trying to get in his wheel chair, he lost balance and fell flat on his bed. He groaned even louder.
Yuvi.....Sonal and Prakash called his name in unison, they both rushed to pick him up from the bed together, then Prakash helped him get on his wheelchair, and said bro, take it easy, don't hurt yourself. I told you earlier today to ask for help anytime you needed one. Thanks big bro, but the maid is almost here with my food, I was just trying to see if I can help myself before she came, otherwise, I was going to ask her for help, Yuvi replied still in pain.
And your medication? you should take those, the pain killers you took earlier are wearing off, Sonal added. Thanks sis Sonal, when am done eating, I would take them. Please do excuse me I need to use the restroom, Yuvi replied. I would help you, Prakash pushed Yuvi's wheelchair towards the bathroom. When he got to the bathroom, he pleaded with Prakash that he would take it from there, he would help himself out of the wheelchair.
Prakash didn't want to leave him alone in there but he agreed in the end. Prakash came out and into the room, Sonal had a worried look on her face, worried for Yuvi, but Prakash assured her, the detectives are on top of the case, she shouldn't worry so much. He hugged her. They broke off the hug when Yuvi who used difficulty to defecate and was done called out to Prakash to come help him get back in his wheelchair.
While Prakash was helping Yuvi wash his hands and bringing him back into the room, there was a knock on the door. Sonal attended to it, she opened it, saw it was the maid with Yuvi's food. She took it from her, thanked her and told her that Prakash and herself would take it from there. The maid although insisted that she needed to do her job, reluctantly agreed in the end.
As soon as Sonal shut the room door, Alvni who was disguised as a maid looked with disappointments, she then said to herself, Yuvi probabaly thought am home resting anyway, I should go home, as she was going downstairs, she bumped into Desha, but she quickly covered her face so that Desha won't discover it was her.
She stammered, so sorry madam, and rushed out of Desha's site. Desha wondered why the maid was acting all up. Anyway that is her problem, she said and walked back into her room. When she was getting hungry, she stepped out to the kitchen and asked one of the maids to bring her food upstairs. Normally she would help herself out, but she didn't want to run into Sonal, she found out from one of the maids that Sonal was still around.
Back to Yuvi's room, by the time Prakash brought out Yuvi from the bathroom, Sonal had set the table for Yuvi to eat. Yuvi thanked her and started eating. Sonal sat down on the sofa, Prakash joined her. Both Prakash and Sonal were so close and cozy together that Yuvi with food in his mouth asked.
As he was eating he asked Prakash, big bro this one that you and sis sonal came to my room together, now you so close together, is something going on? besides you always avoided relationship topics anytime mum brought it up. You were so into work and the military, you didn't seem interested in girls. By this time Yuvi was drinking his orange juice.
Yuvi, Sonal wanted to see how you were doing, so I brought her to see you, you should continue eating, and take your meds, Prakash replied. Oh yes, your big bro is right, you need finish your food and take your medication, Sonal chipped in. Oh no offense sis, I apologise, I can see you have an engagement ring, I was in the wrong to ask about you and big bro. Big bro doesn't have have time for girls.
Yuvi eat, you need to take your meds, Prakash told him again. Wow big bro, what has sis done to you? in the past you would have playfully given me a blow playfully by now, but I observed you so super nice to me this evening. Sis maybe from now on, you should not allow big bro to see me alone, you should always come with him and....Yuvi paused then he continued, no offense to your fiancee, but can I borrow you in the future so that big bro can continue to be super nice to me?
Sonal smiled and lightly hit Prakash, well of course you can Yuvi, but do listen to your big bro, you really need to finish up your food and take your meds. Alright sis sonal. thanks, Yuvi replied and continued eating. But as he ate, he observed Prakash and Sonal, and thought to himself, Sister Sonal has a fiancee, but she is flirting with brother Prakash, when am better, I would investigate more, and if I found out she is having an affair with big bro, I won't think highly of her anymore. I would warn big bro about her later on.
When Yuvi was done eating, Sonal helped him with his meds. And when he was done taking his meds, Prakash helped him get in his bed, he made sure Yuvi was alright and comfortable before he and Sonal excused themselves out of his room.
In the hallway, on their way downstairs, Prakash said love, the looks on Yuvi's face was questionable, you should have allowed me tell him all about us, we engaged now. The fiancée he was referring to is me. Well dear, we will in time, I just thought it not to be the right time, I mean considering Uncle's demise couple with the fact that he is in pains, well he might get too excited for us that he would injure himself the more, please let him heal properly first.
Okay love, but we made a deal, we would inform the rest of the family tonight, you know am going back to the military base at the break of dawn and during weekends, I would be in Sudan with my buddies and the rest the Indian troops, Prakash replied.
Yes dear, but remember the case with me and Zara, please do sort it out with Pulkit, so he talks to his girlfriend about it, Sonal said. Alright love, I would and I would also inform everyone not to mention it to Yuvi yet, I mean about us, we want him to recover fully, we don't want his happiness for the both of us to increase his pain physically.
Speaking of Yuvi, I just remembered he mentioned to me the last time I was in town, that the day I do find a fiancee, he would be the most happiest for me, he would go all out to celebrate, thanks baby, that is how I would have aggravated his pain unintentionally, Prakash spoke. You welcome love, Sonal replied.
Soon they got downstairs to the living room. The maids were done cleaning up. Two of the guards were standing by the door, the others were outside keeping watch. The maids were in their quarters, the two that were in the house, were working shifts that night to cater for the family incase any thing was needed; they were in the kitchen. The drivers as well as Kunj had also retired to their quarters.
Although the lights in the whole house except the rooms were fully lit just like the outside, the rest of the family had all retired to their rooms, earlier, Prakash had instructed the guards and maid to keep the lights in the house on, until he tells them otherwise. Now he was downstairs in the living room with Sonal, He sat her down then told her she should wait for him that he was going to call the rest of the family, he was going to call for an emergency family meeting.
Although Sonal didn't like the idea of the emergency meeting, she had no choice but to agree because of Prakash's tight schedule and because Prakash wanted his family to look after Sonal when he goes to Africa. His family won't see him again till he returns from Africa. He went to his parents room first, then pleaded with Purhab, his dad, to please call for an emergency meeting, that he had important information to tell the whole family.
Purhab obliged his son, he called for the emergency meeting, everyone came down stairs including Desha except Yuvi because of his recent condition. Prakash thanked everyone for coming for the emergency family meeting, and apologised to them for the inconvenience. He started off with informing them about his trip to Africa to help sudan, so he was joining the Indian troops. He also assured the family that he would be safe, his going to Africa with his buddies, so no cause for alarm.
He then mentioned, Yuvi should be kept in the dark because of his condition. When he wanted to inform them about his relationship with Sonal, he drew her close, Madam Mehra was delighted in her heart, so she asked, with a smile on her face, Prakash, you too are this close? well Yes mum one of the reasons I organised this meeting, Prakash replied. Initially Madam Mehra assumed Sonal stayed over to help out as a family friend, she welcomed the idea, hoping to bring her and Prakash together.
Earlier when she saw Prakash defend Sonal and scold Desha, she assumed Prakash was just being nice to their guest, because he has always being a gentleman, she did see that as a good start, she decided to let fate take its course, now she is beginning to connect the dots. Prakash defended Sonal because they are indeed together!
Yes son go on, Purhab urged him. Thank you dad, prakash replied and continued addressing the family. He held Sonal's hand, then he said, mum, dad, grandpa, grandma, Desha, aunt and cousin, I want to introduce the future daughter in-law of the Mehra's to you, my fiancee Sonal Arora. As the responsible girl that she is, Sonal touched the feet of all the elders and decided to shake hands with cousin Mehra and hug Desha, but these two were very cold to her without words, so she didn't do to them as intended.
As she was going back beside Prakash, cousin Mehra suddenly shouted, this day is supposed to be about my dad, respect his memory, he left to his room angry. Aunt Mehra quickly apologised on his behalf and went after him to advise him to change his bad behaviour. Then Desha spoke rudely but with a low tone; you don't deserve big bro Sonal, I won't allow it, she then ran to her room.
As she was going Madam Mehra called her, Desha....., but she continued running and ended up locking herself in her room. Father Mehra looked at Prakash, with a cold tone he said, son this is not the time to break your relationship with Sonal to us, the ashes of your Uncle is still in that jar, it is not in the sacred water yet. And for the trip to Africa, I wish you good luck, make your family and the country proud, return to us safely.
With a cold look, he looked at Sonal and back to Prakash, then he walked to his room. Sonal began to feel uncomfortable, she felt really bad, she indeed told Prakash this was bad timing to reveal their relationship to the family, but Prakash drew her closer, to assure her that all will be well. She felt relieved but not completely. Madam Merha before she followed her husband told Prakash and Sonal, I would talk to your father, don't you worry.
Grandpa Mehra just patted Prakash on his shoulders, without a word he left, but grandma Mehra did speak. With a smile on her face she told Sonal, girl you do look and behave like a good girl, I did observe you today and how close you were to Prakash, so hurry up and give me great grand kids. Then she left and followed her husband. Thank you grandma, both Prakash and Sonal said in Unison.
