Chapter 79: She was just doing her job
At Mehra TV...
Sonal's day today was hectic, for the past week, she has avoided anchoring the wedding ceremony of Sunita and Rohit because of her best friend Jasmine.
Jasmine is already aware of Rohit's betrayal, she could freely now anchor the grand finale of the wedding of business tycoon, Ravi Bhatt's daughter, Sunita Batt to her long time boyfriend according to the tabloids.
Sonal on first hand basis knew the truth about the circumstances of how Rohit ended up betraying her best friend Jasmine. She had paid her sources to dig up the real story when she first heard Rohit was marrying Sunita.
But she was just doing her job, for the entertainment at Mehra TV to be juicy some more. And after all, President Bhatt had sent his men to pay trolls to help spread the rumour about his daughter Sunita getting married to her long time boyfriend Rohit.
The Rumour only became truth in the eyes of the media and citizens of India when Ravi Bhatt confirmed it at the conference that he had organized weeks before the wedding.
He also did a good job by covering up the rumours about Jasmine trying to kill herself by slitting her wrist because of Rohit, by saying that Jasmine was out of town and they were simply rumours.
He also punished his mean sister for trying to tarnish the Bhatt's image by spreading the rumours about Jasmine slitting her wrist anonymously. She did not disclose the name of the hospital that Jasmine was admitted.
She did not want her family especially her brother, Ravi Bhatt to link the source of the rumours to her. But in the end, Ravi Bhatt still found out about it. He employed the best hacker in town, who hacked into her anonymous account and traced it to her.
Now today was the main wedding ceremony, the grand finale, Sonal the main entertainment anchor and her assistant were interviewing about two celebrity guests, to talk about weddings and it's glitz and glamour in the show with them.
Mehra TV correspondence were live in Bombay at the Bhatt Mansion to cover the wedding live. As Sonal and the others discuss the topic of the day in the studios, the live correspondence supported them with live entertainment coverage of Sunita and Rohit's wedding.
At intervals, they also took live calls from viewers to spice the show more. Along with other callers of the show, Yash called aswell to contribute.
He mentioned on air that the couple, Rohit and Sunita were good role models to couples out there, that he would love to be like them one day and get married to his long time girlfriend.
Sonal was a professional, she did not mix her personal life and business life together. She responded to Yash professionally, the same way she did previous callers of the show.
Jasmine responded professionally but she still subconsciously imagined why Yash would make such statements. she was never his long time girlfriend nor his girlfriend at any point of her own accord.
She only agreed to date him because of their family friendship which is just couple of years old, specifically from a year before she went abroad for her bachelors degree, and not from her childhood days.
The live entertainment show aired for one hour. When Sonal ended the show, she mentioned to her viewers that subsequently the entertainment correspondents would update them on the wedding currently going on at the Bhatt mansion.
At the Mehra Conglomerates...
Yuvrag sat at the head of the table in the board room, he was having a meeting with the board of directors. His secretary handed over a copy of a business proposal to each board member.
He used his power point slides for presentation, he was presenting the business proposal that Father Ritz had showed him the other day he was at the Ritz mansion dropping off his wife Nisha back from Delhi University.
His presentation lasted about 15 minutes. When he was done, he sat down and eagerly awaited the response from the board members.
Having studied the business proposal in their hands and listened to Yuvrag presentation on it, one after the other, they aired their views.
The first board member started with telling the board that Mehra Conglomerates does not deal with Fabric production, either pure indian fabrics or mixed prints, so he won't advised the conglomerates not to take such partnership.
The second board mentioned that though the conglomerates has partnered with other companies like Jah company who apart from being in the construction industry are also large producers of paper.
But in this case, the fabric production industry is a market that Mehra Conglomerates has not ventured into, and that the company is currently deeply involved with White George Corporation.
The conglomerates is in partnership with them both home and abroad, so he wouldn't advice the conglomerates to take any partnership with Ritz firm for now.
The third board member was of the opinion that Yuvrag's effort was commendable but the business proposal stated the fact that the contract of mixed fabrics production has not been taken up.
It falls under the probability that in the future if and when the foreign company decides to award them the contract to Ritz firm, before our partnership with them will yield returns.
He then went on to say that if in the future, the foreign company decides it won't venture into mixed fabrics, then our investment will be pending for much longer till Ritz firm gets awarded another contract by another firm on mixed fabrics.
He concluded by saying that he goes with the decision of the other board members by saying he too advises that the partnership with with Ritz firm should not be considered.
This rest of the board members also turned down the business proposal from Ritz firm except for two of them who were more concerned about being in good terms with Yuvrag than the welfare of the company.
But their votes were not enough to get Mehra Conglomerates to take up the partnership with Ritz firm. Those against is did surpass those who were for the partnership.
The board meeting was adjourned at this junction and every board member exited the board room one after the other except for Yuvrag who sat feeling defeated.
Alvni, Yuvrag's secretary also waited because it was in her job description not to leave the board room after the meetings are over before her direct boss Yuvrag.
She also didn't want to leave her love and boss in such down casted state. But as she was about to ask Yuvrag if he needed anything, Yuvrag asked her to carry on and get to her other task. She had no choice but to leave him all alone in the board room.
Yuvrag stayed like that for 30minutes before he went to his office. As soon as he was in his office, he packed his brief case, and asked his secretary to cancel all his meetings for the day.
Yuvrag left Mehra Conglomerates and went to his pent house. As soon as he got there, he called Nisha, and apologized that he won't be able to come pick her up from the University.
At first Nisha was upset, Yuvrag then apologized to her that he had a bad day at the office that she should come to the pent house so that they can spend time together.
There was no need for her to bring any clothes, both of their clothes were in the pent house. The house was also stacked full with all the necessary house hold items, including personal male, female and couple items.
On hearing this, Nisha had a feeling something must have gone wrong at the conglomerates, so she asked Yuvi what the matter was, that the day is still very young and that she she still had classes to attend for the rest of the day and that it was still morning.
Yuvi responded that he will tell her about it when she comes home to him from the University, but Nisha didn't have the heart to wait that long before she gets a reply and know what is bothering her Yuvi.
She made the decision to ditch school. She said to him that she loves him alot, will be at the pent house soon, that he shouldn't worry because she will skip school just to be with him.
Yuvi had no problem with her leaving campus early and missing few classes, infact he was delighted and replied her that she should hurry up and that he would be waiting. They ended the call afterwards.
At Old Delhi University....
Desha look at the time, it was almost noon, it's been a while she saw Sonal, and because she has been focusing on the coming semester exams which is due the following month, she had not called her either.
Sonal usually called her once in a while but recently, she had not had any calls from her, she then wondered what must have happened, but she knew Sonal was fine.
She and her friends during one of their class breaks were able to watch the live entertainment show which aired on Mehra TV for about half an hour before they started preparing for their next class with professor Singh.
Desha has been spending more time and staying over at the University to prepare for her semester exams, she only goes home less nowadays. She was home few days ago because her father, Purhab Mehra sent for her to be part of the family meeting.
Now she has to go home again today because she received a call from Inspector Rishi Gupta earlier in the morning, when she was on her way for morning lectures.
She could have easily received the sealed file from one of his men on campus but she remembered her brother's instructions that she should always keep the files in his safe as soon as possible after she receives it.
She also thought of going to visit Sonal at Mehra TV after her last class for the day which will end by 3pm. After seeing her, she would go home thereafter.
Meanwhile at Mehra TV...
Sonal was in the relaxing area with Jumpa, she had told Jumpa all that has been happening with Jasmine and why she couldn't pick her up on her way to work this morning. The only thing she left out was the part where she stayed over at Mehra Conglomerates with Prakash Mehra.
She made it look as if she stayed over at the hospital the previous night. Jumpa on hearing the truth about Rohit and Sunita's marriage first hand from her friend Sonal, was amazed that Sonal was still able to be professional without any form on bias during the live show.
Jumpa commended Sonal on her professionalism. She wasn't the type who is likely to spread gossips nor rumours, so Sonal was able to discuss such trivial matters with her.
She also was aware that Jumpa was the kind of person that Jasmine could discuss her life with, Jasmine even told her that she spoke to Jumpa about Rohit at one point when the three of them went out shopping one day.
Sonal had gone to use the ladies, one thing led to another, both Sonal and Jumpa started discussing about boyfriends and both their good and bad behaviours towards them.
Although Jumpa was told by Jasmine that her boyfriend was called Rohit, she didn't know him facially. Sonal spoke to her that the Rohit who got married to Sunita was same Rohit who broke Jasmine's heart.
She almost didn't believe at first, but Sonal had no reason to lie to her, so she believed in the end and was willing to go to the hospital after close of work to see Jasmine.
Sonal's phone rang at this point, it was Zara, she wanted to know how Jasmine was doing. Sonal replied her that Jasmine had recovered quickly. She wanted to see Sonal during visiting hours, she then inquired of the time for visiting, of which Sonal informed her.
