Chapter 77: The Almighty has favoured me
Old Delhi Hospital....
Sonal and Prakash walked inside just on time for morning visiting hours, which ends by 8 am. It was already 6 am in the morning.
They got to Jasmine's ward, the nurse had just finished cleaning her up, they waited outside in the lobby and it took them about 2 minutes before they could see Jasmine.
As soon as they entered, Sonal did not waste time, she went immediately to Jasmine and hugged her best friend on the bed. With teary eyes she asked, Jasmine how are you feeling this morning?
Sonal am better now, thanks to you, your mum, my brother and his buddies. Sagar was really helpful yesterday night when Prakash had taken you home, he really cheered me up to the point I forgot about Rohit and how he hurt me for a while.
But as soon as she mentioned Rohit's name, she began to cry. At this point Sonal had to act quickly by hugging her again and encourage her not to mention that name again.
You should recover, think about you and guess what? you can stay with me at the Arora mansion for as long as you like until you feel comfortable to go to the Singh Mansion. Alright girl now cheer up.
Okay Sonal, Jasmine replied with tears still in her eyes but Sonal wiped off, then collected the fruits she had bought at the supermarket from Prakash.
She then said to Jasmine, give me few minutes, I will wash these fruits I bought for you, so you could have some before the nurse comes with your breakfast.
Sonal then went into Jasmine's bathroom to wash the fruits. It was at this point that Prakash who had sat down in a chair by now then spoke to Jasmine that all will be well, he then cracked up some light jokes to make her feel better.
At this point Sonal came out from the bathroom, on seeing that Jasmine was smiling and not sad or crying anymore, she became happy too. As she went closer to Jasmine she thanked Prakash for putting a smile on her best friend's face.
She then took the plate and the bread knife on the desk close to Jasmine, She removed some fruits from the bowl she had put them in initially and cut them up for Jasmine to eat.
The cut fruits were in the plate, she fed Jasmine but not too much so that she would be able to eat her breakfast when the nurse brings it.
It didn't take long after Jasmine finishing eating the fruits Sonal cut up for her that the nurse came in with her breakfast. Sonal and Prakash thanked her for taking care of Jasmine.
The nurse accepted their thanks and replied that it was her job and that she enjoys doing her job. She wanted to help Jasmine eat but Sonal told her that she is here for her best friend and that she would do the honours of helping Jasmine eat.
The nurse accepted Sonal's offer to help Jasmine eat, she then decided to leave and continue her rounds, but before that, she put out Jasmine's medicines and explained to Sonal how to give it to her after she was done eating.
Sonal thanked the nurse as she exited Jasmine's room thereafter. Jasmine ate but was forced to finish her meal by Sonal with much difficulty. After which she took her medicines that Sonal handed to her as instructed by the nurse.
Sonal chit chatted for few minutes while Jasmine replied at intervals. After a while, Sonal looked at her time and informed Jasmine that she had to go to work and would come visit her after working hours.
Jasmine didn't want Sonal to go but she had no choice but to let her best friend go to work. Sonal hugged Jasmine and told her to be good, as she was about to leave Jasmine's room, Prakash then spoke to Jasmine that he would walk Sonal out.
Sonal didn't object to this. The pair worked out of Jasmine's room but not hand in hand, immediately they stepped out of Jasmine's room, they met Ajay, Sagar and Pulkit approaching.
It wasn't surprising to see Ajay, but as for Sagar and Pulkit, they had left the hospital the previous day before the two guys arrived, so it was indeed surprising to see them.
Sagar, Pulkit! you here! Prakash exclaimed as Sonal paused surprisingly. They were both surprised but happy to see the two guys. As Prakash hugged them afterwards, Sonal mentioned hi guys, glad to see you here, to support Ajay.
Don't mention, Sager said while Pulkit mentioned, it's good to see you too Sonal. Alright guys, Ajay, would be back in the evening, have to dash off to work. Please take care of Jass, Sonal replied.
We will Ajay responded, while Prakash said, I will see her off. Okay buddy, take care of her and come back, let's catch up on things Ajay mentioned.
Prakash and Sonal walked out of the hospital, by this time the cab man who waited, had moved to the hospital entrance to convey Sonal to work.
Sonal was great full that Prakash had arranged for the cab man to take her to work. She thanked him and informed not to send the cab to pick her up after working hours because the Arora family driver would be doing that.
Prakash was cool with that and replied Sonal that he had already paid the cab man that she needed not worry about the fare.
Sonal thanked him again and hugged him, Prakash though surprised at her actions, hugged her back, after which he opened the door of the car for her, when she entered, he closed it back for her and waved her goodbye.
I can tell you for sure, anyone who saw them in their little moments of hugs, coupled with the fact that they were putting on matching outfits, immediately assumed they were an official couple and looked good together
Jumpa knew Sonal was off the previous day but today she was not aware that Sonal would not be coming in to work with the Arora family car. Sonal had to give her a call not to wait for her that she was not coming straight from home so it would not be possible to pick her up.
Back inside the hospital, Ajay was inside Jasmine's room while Pulkit and Sagar were waiting in the lobby. When Prakash got to where they were, he sat down, leaned his head backwards and closed his eyes.
Pulkit and Sagar looked at themselves, wandering what is going on with Prakash, Pulkit then asked Prakash what the matter was, if he was alright. You were fine couple of minutes ago Sagar added.
Prakash opened his eyes, looked at them and with smiles on his face replied them by saying, buddies am excited that Sonal and I are getting closer and with time, she would be exclusively mine.
The Almighty has favoured me, I came here with Ajay to help his sister Jasmine, I pray that she gets better soon, but am favoured by her current condition, and it is not that I am happy that Jasmine got hurt.
The moment he finished with his sentence, him, Sager and Pulkit all then noticed that Ajay was standing near them and looking at Prakash angrily, he was furious with him.
Ajay, is everything all right? how is Jasmine now? and why do you look furious buddy? Prakash asked. With an angry tone, Ajay replied him by saying, stop acting as if you care, you are very much happy that my sister got hurt right?
Isn't it? and for what? so that you can have the opportunity to spend much time with her best friend, Sonal right? Prakash tried to explain to him that he got what he was saying to Pulkit and Sagar all wrong.
But Ajay didn't want to hear anything, he didn't allow Prakash finish explaining to him before he interrupted him by saying just save your explanations Prakash, I heard you clearly, am not deaf.
You clearly mentioned to both Pulkit and Sagar that you are happy that Jasmine got hurt, I clearly heard right. Sagar and Pulkit at this point then tried to explain to Ajay what Prakash was actually saying to them but Ajay didn't want to hear them out either.
He interrupted them aswell by saying, guys please, don't try to save him otherwise, I would label you too as being in support of him. Prakash then said, please don't drag them into this Ajay, it's between you and me.
Ajay then turned his back against the guys and said, Prakash please leave, I don't want you here anymore. But Ajay it hasn't come to that, Prakash replied. I don't want to see you nor talk to you anymore, just leave, Ajay said.
This is too far, you don't have to do this, both Sagar and Pulkit said respectively. No buddies, it's okay, I don't want to drag you both into this, please do take care of Jasmine and make sure that Ajay feels better, Prakash replied.
Prakash stood up and said Ajay do take care, then he walked away, he was on his way out of the hospital. Ajay didn't reply, he still had his back turned. It was only when Prakash was out of sight that he turned and sat down on the long bench close to Pulkit and Sagar.
He had a disappointing look, he was very much disappointed with Prakash, he felt betrayed, and felt that Prakash only used him, that he didn't care about his precious sister Jasmine.
Sagar and Pulkit didn't say anything else to him, they allowed him wallow in his thought. They wanted him to calm down. They were going to explain things better to him much later, when he was ready to listen, that he got Prakash wrong.
Meanwhile in New Delhi....
Major General Gevan, Major General Gupta and the other major general sat patiently at the army headquarters and waited for President Ram Nat Kovid to address them. It was 6:45 am at this time.
When the clock struck 7, the vice president of India opened the floor for the president to address all the major generals of India.
The president speech....
Faithful major generals of this great country India, it is no coincidence that you are called out by this time at this hour. As you very well know, Africa most especially Sudan is in disarray, and quaos is the order of the day.
Bandits and armed men roam the streets of Sudan freely, it's citizens are in penury, the government have contacted India as well as all other powerful nations of the world for assistance.
I employ you, great soldiers, let us join hands with all other powerful nations of the world, and fight and bring out Sudan from it's dispear. A bill has been passed and it has been approved that India should send her troops to Sudan for protection against the bandits and armed men.
Each major generals and generals from each army base all around the country has the responsibility of bringing out it's best troops. Together the troops shall form the India armed force that will be sent to Sudan.
They will be trained specially before embarking on its mission to Africa, so major generals, I employ you to go, and together with the generals in each army base, bring out your best troops and report back to the presidency. End of speech.
The vice president then informed them on when to report back to the presidency before he adjourned the meeting. Not all the major generals agreed but they had pledged an oat to put others above themselves so in the end they all put away their grudges.
The presidency exited the building first, followed by the major generals of India one after the other. Some went back to their army barracks immediately.
The likes of Major general Gevan and Major general Gupta, and few others thought it best to see their families before returning to base the next day.
