Chapter 76: They both locked eyes
At the Mehra Conglomerates...
It was 4 am the next morning, a beautiful damsel opened her eyes gently, her surroundings was not familiar to her. She gently sat on the bed, looked around, wondered where she was and then tried to recall the activities of the previous day.
The room was not brightly lit, neither was it dark either. Prakash had left the sleeping dim lights on, he didn't want to make his future wife think that she was kidnapped when she finally wakes up, considering the fact that he brought her to Mehra Conglomerates without her consent.
Looking around, Sonal's eyes met a man sleeping peacefully on the sofa. She was terrified at first and wondered if she had been kidnapped. His face was not visible so she did not know who he was.
She was very alert by this time, she stood up quietly, tiptoed, reached for her bag and tried to call the police but instead decided to call her mum for help to call the police. This was an attempt to make her mum worry less.
She then thought to herself that after calling her mum for help, she would find a weapon for defense incase the man wakes up.
Holding her bag, she quietly opened it, then secretly thanked the Almighty that her phone was still inside. She then turned her back against the Sofa so that when she tries to call, her screen light won't shine brightly and wake up the unknown man.
As she opened her phone, she saw her mum's several missed calls, and got worried that her mum might have been terrified that she didn't come home last night. As soon as she tried to dial her mum's number she heard the man speak.
She did not know the time he woke up and moved closed to her. Who you trying to call? he asked. She got frightened to the point that she couldn't answer, but she turned around almost immediately, and lost her balance in the process which made her to fall backwards but the man caught her.
She didn't realize that he was trying to save her, not to let her fall, so she tried to struggle out of his arms, and in the process, she did hit him with her hands several times. In that struggle, they both fell on the bed, but Prakash was very swift.
As they were falling, he turned her and moved under her so that she falls on top of him. He didn't want to fall on her and injure her, so in the end he fell with his back on the bed and Sonal fell on top of him.
It was at this point that Sonal saw who the man was, they both locked eyes as emotions flowed between them. He was handsome, she was beautiful, and at this point they both wished in their hearts that they were an item.
But sooner than later reality set in when Sonal broke the silence while still on top of Prakash when she asked, you? where are we? why did you bring me here and not take me home to the Mehra mansion?
Prakash decided to gently sit both of them on the bed before answering but Sonal pinned him down not letting him get up.
Prakash was enjoying this, so he let her win though it was easy for him to overpower her. Prakash you not getting up until you answer me, Sonal told him as she pointed her finger to him to indicate how serious she was.
Alright Sonal, immediately he said that, he brought her closer to him that their lips almost touched. Sonal's heart skipped a bit, she quickly got off him then ran towards the door leading to the bathroom.
She entered then shut the door not knowing it was a bathroom but was glad it was. One of the bathroom dim light was on, but she wanted the room brightly lit, so she looked around, found a switch and put it on.
She smiled to herself for a while, looked around, found brand new tooth brushes, tooth pastes, bath gels and clean towels. The only thing missing there were new outfits. She didñt want to know how those items got in there, but instead she gladly freshened up.
Actually on their way to Mehra Conglomerates the previous night, Prakash had disguised himself when he entered a super market to buy those items.
Prakash smiled as he sat on the bed, Sonal had been in the bathroom for a little while, so he guessed she must be freshening up. He looked at the time, it was almost 4:30 in the morning, he knew he and Sonal had to leave the Conglomerates soon because it was a week day.
After Sonal came out, she stood there quietly and gave Prakash a glare which indicated that he had not answered her previous questions. Prakash quickly understood and answered her as he stood up and walked towards her.
I will tell you everything on our way back to the hospital, right now I have to freshen up aswell, it's a week day, we are in Mehra Conglomerates. You don't want us to be topic of gossip in the Conglomerates today right?
Sonal nodded, indicating a yes to Prakash's question, and allowed him enter the bathroom. Prakash used another tooth brush but used same sponge and towel as Sonal although he bought two pair each from the super market.
After he finished freshening up, he got dressed inside the bathroom just like Sonal did before. He came out only to see that Sonal was on a call. Okay mum, I will tell Yash you send your greetings.
Mum I will be home later today, I still have to go to work and if I come home first, I will be late. Don't worry about my clothes, Yash bought me new outfits at the supermarket. Alright mum see you when I get back, then she hung up.
Prakash was still standing in front of the bathroom door, after hearing Yash's name from Sonal's conversation with her mum, he was furious. It's only a matter of time, he then said to himself under his breath.
Sonal on hearing some sounds, suddenly looked up, she was stunned as she managed to ask, you said? Oh nothing Sonal, I was just saying we better be going, it's almost 5 am, Prakash replied.
Yes, and by the way, I will need new outfits at the supermarket, mind getting it for me, am not with my credit cards now, I will repay your kindness later when all is settled with Jasmine at the hospital, Sonal responded.
That is no problem but wasn't Yash supposed to get you? you did mention that to your mum, Prakash replied. Does it bother you? I mean are you jealous? Sonal responded.
Oh no sweetheart, Yash is no Match for me, let's get going already, Prakash said. The way he called her sweet heart, melted her heart, Yash didn't call her so sweetly Sonal thought to herself.
They left the building by taking the private elevator, but before that, Prakash made sure he erased the footage of the CCTV cameras of them. He could access it from his phone. He had it connected to his office laptop and phone for backup a long time ago with the help of the CCTV installer.
Downstairs at the gate, Prakash tipped the gatemen and made them not tell any members of staff nor his family that he was in town, let alone that he was with a girl. He planned on surprising them himself before he and his buddies go back to the army base located at the outskirt of town.
Meanwhile at the Mehra Mansion....
Purhab Mehra decided to hold a family meeting very early in the morning before everyone goes about their activities at work, school or home.
He started by giving them the good news that Cousin Mehra had been discharged from the hospital over there at the US, and that it took great difficulty for aunty Mehra not to tell him about the demise of uncle Mehra his father.
At one point I had to tell aunty Mehra to inform him that Uncle Mehra had returned to india and that he should call me anytime he wants to speak with his father.
I have successfully convinced him that Uncle Mehra misses him a lot and that the only way he would talk to him was that he brings his mother aunty Mehra back home to India. The entire family also misses him for sure.
I have made arrangements for the body of Uncle Mehra be flown back home, his body will arrive the day after tomorrow, it is only then that I will give aunty Mehra the go ahead to come back to India with Cousin Mehra.
Everyone then acknowledged it was a good idea. After which Purhab continued. Yuvi, you would make arrangements for uncle Mehra's body to be put in Old Delhi morgue when it arrives. Yes dad will do so, Yuvi responded.
And how are things over at the Conglomerates, Purhab asked. It's going smoothly dad, and Desha, how are preparations for your exams and the convocation ceremony? All is going well dad, Desha responded.
Lakshmi dear, please organise breakfast for everyone, we must all have breakfast today, including myself, am not happy, ever since the news about uncle Mehra, we have not been having breakfast.
Mum and dad need more energy to be refreshed on a daily basis, we all need it. Okay dear, Lakshmi responded before excusing herself to give instructions to the maids on what to prepare for breakfast.
Thanks son, grandpa and grandma said in unison as everyone exited the adjourned meeting to go get ready for the day, the day was threatening to break already.
Meanwhile in the supermarket...
Prakash wore his disguise and helped Sonal with her disguise. But why do I have to disguise myself too Sonal asked? because someone might recognize you with me, we don't want anything delaying us, especially you, you have to go to work after seeing Jasmine at the hospital.
Yes true, sonal agreed and wore her disguise before they entered the supermarket. Prakash needed to buy another outfit too, so he didn't mind shopping with Sonal.
The clothes available were only matching outfits, the supermarket ran out of stock of single outfits. They both liked a particular matching outfits and disliked the rest.
Prakash paid for it, they went to the dresser and changed into their new outfits. Prakash came out first from the male section and waited few minutes before Sonal came out from the female section.
As they exited the supermarket, Prakash flattered Sonal that she is and looked beautiful in that sari she was putting on. Sonal blushed, she became shy that she didn't know when she covered her face in Prakash chest.
It warmed Prakash heart. They stayed there like that for a while not until a little child who was passing with his mummy said to his mummy, mum look, I want to be sweet to my wife when I grow up just like the husband and wife who are wearing marching outfit.
His mummy laughed lightly and responded to him, that is my boy, as they entered the supermarket. On hearing this, Sonal then came to reality and removed her head from Prakash's chest.
She then responded to his flattery smiling shyly, thanks and sorry I rested on your chest. No worries Sonal, let's go, our cab man is probably waiting for us. On mentioning cab man, Sonal then asked Prakash.
I was meaning to ask, won't the cab man tell on you? I noticed he recognized you from your conversations with him on our way here. You see Sonal, he is our special and trusted cab man. Anytime am not driving, I always hire him to take me around.
And I don't like using the Mehra's family drivers because I feel my other family members will need them especially my mum and sister.
Hmmmm, that is so nice of you Prakash, I hope some day I will get to share in this special cab man with you, on a different circumstance, this one we are in now, wouldn't count.
Sure sweetheart, what is mine is yours, alright let's keep moving already, Prakash responded. Okay Prakash, sonal blushed again as she responded.
