Chapter 59: Best Friend Bonding Time With No Phones
Jasmine sat upstairs in Sonal's room feeling sad, wearing a long face, after a while she stood up and went towards the window, she looked into the dark sky, there were no stars, just darkness covering the city.
Sonal had just showered, and had just come out of the bathroom, she was wearing her bath robe. As soon as she came out, she looked towards Jasmine's direction, her heart ached for her best friend.
She moved towards Jasmine and hugged her from behind. Don't be sad anymore Jasmine, don't worry, times heals all wounds, Sonal said.
Jasmine turned around and looked at Sonal and said to her, you talking as if Rohit suddenly left and broken up with me, he is just being delayed by work in Bombay, he can't run away from his family here in Delhi, he will come back after a month's time, you will see, Jasmine consoled herself.
Come here, come sit on the bed, Sonal urged Jasmine. Jasmine sat on the bed with Sonal. Sonal was trying to convince Jasmine to break up with Rohit so that eventually, when she discovers that Rohit had gone and gotten married to another woman, she wouldn't be hurt too much.
She did not want to see her best friend, spend weeks in the hospital because of heartbreak. She could not bear it, to see her best friend suffer so much. So she said to Sonal, wouldn't it be a good idea if you broke up with Rohit now?
Honestly, speaking of how badly he has been treating you this past few weeks, ever since he traveled to Bombay, he is not valuing you. Why dont you try and date other guys, you will be much happier.
You can even sell that ring Rohit gave you, and take care of your self with the money. Sonal paused for a while, looked at Jasmine's hand and asked, where is your ring by the way? I noticed you don't have it on.
Jasmine looked at Sonal, and said with a blank look, why, don't you like Rohit? he is a nice guy, we have been dating for a very long time now, and you want me to hurt him by breaking up with me.
Don't tell me you are jealous because your fiancée didn't buy you a ring like my fiancee did. I so do not like your attitude right now. Sonal replied immediately, but it is for your own good, what if he is with another woman right now and doesn't care one bit about you anymore? Look Jasmine, take my advice I don't like seeing you so sad all the time.
Well you don't have to anymore, Jasmine got a little upset and continued, are you tired of me already? well you don't have to be anymore, it's just 8pm, there is still time, I can still go back home to the Singh Mansion. In fact am going home right now, Jasmine stood up from the bed and was about to leave.
Am sorry Jasmine, please don't go, I miss my best friend, I won't mention Rohit and about you breaking up with him anymore. I have been working at Mehra TV for a while now, I can apply for leave next week for a day or two and keep you company. What do you think? Sonal asked.
Sonal that is a great idea, but I don't want to keep you away from work, besides remember I am going with you over at the military base when the time comes? That is enough, Jasmine replied.
Yes I remember about you following me to the military base, you sure about that, that you okay with just that?
Sonal replied. Yes really, am absolutely sure, I can still come over for sleepovers from time to time until Rohit comes back, that would do, Jasmine replied.
Sonal looked at Jasmine with a little pain in her eyes for Jasmine because Jasmine has mentioned about Rohit coming back. She said to herself, sure his coming back but not to you. She said it inwardly so Jasmine did not hear her.
At this time, Jasmine had sat down back on Sonal's bed, Sonal smiled at her, said to her ok Jasmine, if you happy and ok with the current arrangement, am equally happy and ok with it. She then hugged her afterwards.
And continued, now that it is all settled, have had my bath, why don't you do same and change into one of my pajamas. Ok Sonal but I did have my bath this evening at my place before I came here.
As Jasmine was going into the bathroom, Sonal picked up the hair dryer and started drying her hair.
Jasmine went into the bathroom, took her bath, came back outside and wore one of Sonal pajamas. She used the shower cap, her hair was not wet, there was no need to use the hair dryer afterwards.
Sonal and Jasmine went downstairs to have dinner, after they had dinner, they went back upstairs to Sonal's room. For the rest of the night, Sonal distracted Jasmine so that she wouldn't use her phone to browse the internet. She even went ahead to use extreme measures by taking away Jasmine's phone and switching it off.
She named it as best friend bonding time with no phones. She herself had to switch off her own phone aswell for Jasmine to buy into that best friend bonding time with no phones.
She knew that Jasmine would get to know about Rohit eventually, she just wanted her to know later and not Sooner. By the next day, other important juicy news would have overshadowed the news of President Bhatt daughter's upcoming wedding to Rohit, but for now it was still dangerous for Sonal to go through the internet.
Sonal also knew that when the actual wedding day comes, it would be another juicy topic for the day, for the internet family and live TV/Radio media, and even the newspaper would carry it.
She was glad that Jasmine is not a lover of newspapers, even the job application she saw that day in the newspaper, was by accident, Sonal was actually taking the newspaper to her father.
Her father had been working all day as it was a week day, that is why he himself did not get to know about Rohit and his upcoming wedding. At his work place they don't discuss any entertainment news.
The management of White George Corporations had put a policy in place to check mate that. They only discuss news about the stock markets and anything that has to do with the business, to help it grow.
Because of work during weekdays, he did not read the newspaper that morning and he does not read newspapers from previous days, so tomorrow he won't see the news published in the newspaper today about Rohit and his wedding.
He equally brings work home, so he does not have the time for newspaper during the week in the evenings, nor does he have time for news on TV. He doesn't use the internet so well either, all he does is sends and receives mails to and from important clients. He doesn't even have any social media accounts.
Her mother is busy with taking care of the house hold, she doesn't have that time to watch the news, browse the internet or read newspapers either, and doesn't have any social media accounts aswell.
Her brother is far away in the army barracks, he doesn't know what is happening currently, and the rest of her family members do not know who Rohit is.
Now Sonal suggested about taking leave from work about a day or two the following week to Sonal because of the wedding between Rohit and Sunita. President Bhatt had earlier on informed the public about their wedding day.
Sonal was going to take leave from work on that day and try to distract her best friend Jasmine that day and the next, but now Jasmine has declined her offer.
Sonal thought of an another idea, by this time, Jasmine was already fast asleep by her side. She smiled, switched off the lights and slept too. It didn't take too long, she went into dream land.
She dreamt that she was happy with the soldier who fought for her and went through many obstacles for her. His face was blurry, she did not see his face. She also dreamt that the soldier had a soldier friend who seemed to tag along, he refused to go away until the soldier agreed to a demand she was not aware of.
Meanwhile at the Army Barracks....
Prakash, Sagar, Pulkit and Ajay stood alone in the dead of the night, they were in the training fields. They got the permission to use the fields, but they only decided to only do extra trainings till 3am everyday.
They decided on this time because, they needed to sleep at least before 5am when the barracks resume their daily activities.
As the four men started training, they remembered vividly well how Ajay had deceived them that evening that their permission letter was approved, Ajay got beating, not a serious one but playful one.
Ajay had come back from their platoon officer's office, he was looking sad, immediately they saw him, the rest of them figured that their letter was not approved.
Ajay sat down in his bunk bed, he took the bottom while Prakash took the top. He looked at the other three and said with a long face, our letter was declined.
Prakash then spoke, to encourage them all, we would try again, we wouldn't give up, Sagar and Pulkit replied, yes we won't and Pulkit then said to Yash, cheer up man, it is not the end of the world.
Ajay looked up immediately at them with a brightened face and said, got you, it was a prank, here he opened the letter for them all to see. It is stamped, signed and approved.
Prakash, Sagar and Pulkit then jumped on him and gave him a playful beating, they all laughed. It was 9:30pm at that time. Their plan was to start by 12am.
Sager and Pulkit then went to their room while Prakash and Ajay stayed in their room, they all took a short nap till it was 12am.
Now they have been training extra hard since that day, presently, they are doing same aswell. The extra training was not as easy as they made it sound.
The first day they started, they could only train for one hour before they went back to their room. They improved over time and from the second day, they did the full extra training till 3am as planned.
