Chapter 56: Call Me Dad or Papa Like Sunita Does
The weekend passed quickly and Monday came. Sunita did as her dad instructed, Ravi asked her to, she did not call Rohit, even when she was dying to, she did not give in to her desires.
Rohit on the other hand, was longing to call Sunita, at least speak to her for once before he returns to Delhi, he was not going to come back to Bombay after the signing of the contract, his job was just to win contracts in Bombay, Burih firm had enough top management employees to oversee ongoing projects.
When Rohit thought about prison term in Bombay Prison, he gave up the idea of calling Sunita, he called Jasmine instead and was nice to her this time around.
Though he never apologised to her, his call was enough to make her happy. He then informed her that he would be home on Wednesday, the day after tomorrow, that Jasmine should expect him then.
Jasmine was very happy, she was so overjoyed that she did not know when she ran out and went straight to the Arora mansion to look for Sonal.
She had forgotten that Sonal was at work. When she got to the Arora Mansion, the maid who opened the door for her, had informed her that Sonal went to Mehra TV for work. On hearing this, Jasmine was a bit embarrassed.
She is Sonal's best friend, she should be aware of it. She thanked the maid and went back home. When she got to her room, she then prayed that she gets hired for the management trainee position at Jah Company.
If she was at work, she would not have run off like that without remembering that Sonal now works and has little time on her hands now a days, she needed to be busy aswell.
She called Rohit and told him that she forgot to congratulate him for the contract he won when she hung up the phone earlier. She then congratulated him and told him that she would be expecting him the day after tomorrow, on Wednesday.
Rohit then informed her that he would go straight to Burih Mansion as soon as he arrives Delhi, that he would see her later in the evening that day. He also informed her that he would let her know the exact time he would see her when he confirms it.
After the call, Rohit and his assistant who were alone in the board room where now joined by Ravi, Vijay and Bhatt Conglomerates' lawyer.
Rohit's assistant was a lawyer aswell so he represented Burih firm in that aspect. Before today, he had sent the terms and conditions from Burih firm to Bhatt Conglomerates' lawyer.
He also received the terms and conditions of Bhatt Conglomerates from their lawyer. The lawyer of Bhatt Conglomerates had compiled both terms and conditions into a whole for President Bhatt and Rohit to sign.
But before they sign them, they have to first discuss thoroughly, the terms and conditions for the contract, both parties had to agree and arrive at a meeting point. The discussion did not take too long before both parties met halfway and agreed.
The lawyer of Bhatt Conglomerates then went out of the board room and came back shortly. He had drafted and printed two copies of the final contract. One each for both parties.
Now before Rohit signed the contract, his assistant decided to go through the contract all over again. After a while, his eyes dropped, he was surprised, he looked at Rohit and drew his attention to what he saw in the contract.
President Bhatt had not mentioned it to them nor was it discussed with them at any point. Rohit took the contract from his assistant and looked at what his assistant had shown him.
He was shocked, he looked at President Bhatt, he stammered, he started to sweat and called out President Bhatt's name. He paused and continued, we didn't discuss that I must marry Sunita.
President Bhatt looked at him and said, you love her don't you? Yes I do but a few days ago...before Rohit could finish President Bhatt interrupted him.
I know what I said, that you should cease all form of communication with Sunita. Now am asking you to marry her. If you can't accept this, then the contract will have to be given to the next person who got the next highest vote from the board of directors.
Although Rohit loves Sunita, and had given all hope of being with her, he even phoned Jasmine few minutes ago, he was not expecting to be forced to get married, and to Sunita especially.
Sir please give us a minute, Rohit said. He was given, he took his assistant outside of the board room. When they got outside he asked his assistant, what do you think?
Without hesitation, he replied, I think you should take this opportunity, you love Sunita enough to want to marry her right? I see how you look at her, I only have been acting ignorant all this while not to make you feel awkward.
Yes I do, I love Sunita, am just worried for Jasmine. She is my fiancee remember? Yes Rohit she is but at this point, Burih firm is more important, Jasmine isn't your wife, am afraid you have to sacrifice her for the firm.
Just apologise to her and give her some money as compensation when we get back to Delhi. I miss my wife, the sooner we round up with this contract, the sooner I can be with her. Don't think too much about it, just sign the contract.
Become president Bhatt's son in-law, he is more powerful that Jasmine's father, your father would be proud you did well, and I remember you told me you were worried one time that your family doesn't like Jasmine too well especially your dad.
Rohit thought for a while and said ok, I will sign the contract and get married to Sunita. Jasmine I hope you forgive me, he said to himself. He went back inside the board room with his assistant. He signed his name on both copies of the contract and President Bhatt did likewise.
After the signing of the contract, he shook hands firmly with president Bhatt. Then President Bhatt said, you should come bye the mansion this evening with your assistant. Am inviting the priest to give us the right date for the wedding, the auspicious day for you and Sunita to get married.
Rohit swallowed hard and said to himself that fast, he then smiled and replied ok President, we will. He then left Bhatt Conglomerates with his assistant for their hotel room afterwards, while President Bhatt, Vijay and the lawyer continued to work in the Conglomerate.
The bodyguards had stopped keeping an eye on Rohit and his assistant. The contract Rohit signed was legally binding, he could not run away even if he wanted to.
When evening came, Rohit and his assistant went to Bhatt Mansion. When they entered inside the mansion, they greeted namaste to everyone, everyone greeted namaste to them, they were then asked to sit and they sat.
When they sat, the maids gave them sweets. They thanked Trisha, who had asked the maid to bring the sweets for them. Sunita came downstairs smiling, greeted namaste to Rohit and his assistant and sat down beside Rohit.
Rohit smiled backed at her and asked her how she was. She informed him that she was fine and happy to see him. I am happy to see you too, Rohit responded.
Ravi cleared his throat to inform them that they were not the only ones in the living room. Rohit and Sunita stopped talking immediately and looked at Ravi.
The rest of the family members were in the living room aswell. The priest will be here anytime soon father, Vijay spoke up. As soon as he finished speaking, the priest came.
He entered the living room and prepared what he was going to use to know the right date for the wedding, the auspicious day, to tell the Bhatt family.
Before he said anything about the auspicious day for the wedding, he checked their horoscopes and said, both horoscopes match perfectly but trouble lurks in their way if they do get married.
Sunita immediately said rudely, priest, it matches, don't talk nonsense about trouble lurking around, tell us the auspicious day for the wedding immediately.
The Bhatt family including Rohit and his assistant were worried about what the priest said about trouble lurking around. But knowing that Sunita would not take no for an answer about not getting married to Rohit, Ravi had no choice but to ignore it and allow the wedding.
He said, apologies priest, please go on. The priest continued, he checked again and said, the nearest auspicious day to get married is ten days from now, the next is three months from now.
Sunita then said afterwards, I want us to get married in the next ten days, three months is too far away. But Sunita, ten days is too short a time to prepare for a wedding, why don't you wait till the next auspicious day. Trisha her mum said.
No mum, I want to get married as soon as possible and move to Delhi with Rohit. The location for the shoot is in Delhi, it would be easier for me then. I can go to set from my husband's house.
Everyone sighed, Ravi then said, ok priest we would get them prepared, they would get married in ten days time. The priest had finished what he came for, so he left.
As the priest was leaving, Ravi called Rohit. Yes President Bhatt, he replied. Call me dad or papa like Sunita does, you are going to be family soon, Ravi responded.
Ok President, I mean dad, Rohit replied and it sounded foreign to his ears, to address President Bhatt as dad. Ravi continued, Inform your parents to be here as soon as possible, you have a wedding and it is in ten days time. Ok dad, I will call them tonight and inform them, Rohit responded.
Rohit and his assistant stayed and had dinner, they left afterwards. When Rohit got to his hotel room, he called home and explained to them the situation of things.
He did not tell them he signed a contract forcing him to marry Sunita, deep down in his heart, he wanted to get married to her, so he felt that, that little piece of information was not necessary.
His father was delighted and his mum was glad her son was getting married soon and to President Bhatt's daughter, they couldn't have been more happier.
Burih family back in Delhi started preparing to come over to Bombay on Wednesday and were not going to tell Jasmine about it, that she should give up on Rohit.
Rohit was getting married to the daughter of a powerful man, President Bhatt's daughter in Bombay. Rohit had asked them not to tell Jasmine, that be would be the one to inform her himself.
He did not call Jasmine but later that evening before he slept, he called Sunita, and they chatted like a couple who are in love.
