Chapter 55: We Want You to go to Dubai For a Holiday
Meanwhile at the Arora Mansion...
Sonal looked at the time, it was already 9pm, Yash had called her more than a dozen times today. Each time he called her, he was always sweet, saying sweet nothings to her.
She was wondering what had come over Yash to suddenly change over night. When he called her the 15th time, she picked up, said hello and didn't allow him to continue his sweet nothing.
Before he could, she asked him, Yash what do you want? Yash took it as a cue to go on with his demands, so he said, Sonal love, I need you to use your entertainment show to promote Prahtab Company and I want you to do it for free.
After hearing his demands, Sonal immediately hung up on him, he had not changed one bit, he is so shameless, he was only buttering up to her just for this, she thought to herself.
Yash called again, she refused picking, he continued calling, his calls were now noise to Sonal's ears, so she switched off her phone. Laid on her bed and mesmerised about the dream she had last night about that unknown Soldier.
She had dreamt this time that he was working hard to make it in life, so that he would be able to take care of her when they got married. She blushed on her bed that her cheeks became red.
After a while, she snapped back into reality, and she said to herself, who am I kidding, papa has arranged my marriage, and am to be married to Yash very soon when he comes back from the military base.
She became sad, Yash was behaving like an ass, he just wants to use her to get in his father's good books. He doesn't even buy her simple gifts. I think I will talk to papa when I see him in a couple of days from now, to talk to Yash.
I can't talk to his mum about him, his mum will label me as a bad daughter in law who is trying to ruin the image of her nice son, his dad is too scary to talk to, his brother won't want to side with me, his sister is already married and living in her husband's house.
Am not close with rest of his family members. Yash is not close with them either and he had warned me not to try to get close to them and that if I tried he would get mad at me. The last thing I want is for Yash to be mad at me, she said to herself.
She yawned, went to her bathroom, freshened up, wore her pajamas and went to bed, she slept but did not dream about the unknown soldier not about anything this time around.
The next morning....
Sonal woke up, it was a Saturday, she freshened up, got dressed, had breakfast with her mum and went out. She went to pick up Jumpa, they were going with Desha to Delhi University today, and they would be having Dinner at her place, Desha's mum had invited them.
After picking up Jumpa, the driver drove them to the Mehra Mansion, they picked up Desha and headed to Delhi university.
Meanwhile at the Bhatt Mansion in Bombay....
The Bhatt family had just finished having breakfast, Sonal was heading to her room when suddenly Ravi called her to come to the living room that him and her mum had something to talk to her about.
She did not suspect anything, ok dad she said, and went to the living room and sat down. Apart from Ravi and Trisha, Vijay was also present with them.
When she was comfortably sited, Ravi spoke up first. Sunita dear? he called. Yes father she replied. You have been through a lot in the past couple of days. Your mum, Vijay and I thought it best that it would be good for you to travel out.
We want you to go to Dubai for a holiday, don't worry Sunita, you won't be going alone, your mum will go there with you. You can have mum and daughter bonding time in Dubai. Enjoy yourself.
And don't worry about the marriage alliance, we won't force you to get married if you don't want to, don't you worry, my friend and his family will understand that your health is very important, I will talk to them.
Sunita had always wanted to go to Dubai ever since she was a little girl, she was excited at the idea of traveling there. But it didn't take too long for the excitement to ware off her face.
Her mum was the first to notice, so she asked, what is it dear? Sunita looked at her mum and said. Mum, Dad, thanks for this trip to Dubai. If you had brought it up a couple of days ago I would have jumped at the idea but I don't want to go, I want to stay here in India.
Why Sunita? This trip is good for you, you shouldn't waste it, take this opportunity, snap pictures, shop alot, this trip is good for you, Vijay spoke.
I finally got a lead role in a movie that would become a series after the main movie. I don't want to waste such opportunity. Dubai will wait for me but the role won't, Sunita replied.
Truth of the matter was that she loved the lead role but the main reason she did not want to go away to Dubai was to be close to Rohit. She did not want to be apart from him.
Ravi got angry at her refusal to go to Dubai, she was adamant. He then threatened her, if you don't go, you would have to agree to the marriage alliance and get married to my best friend son. Your choice Sunita.
Sunita stood, up and said while tears flowed down her cheeks, I don't want to get married to him, I don't love him. I want to get married to Rohit. She ran upstairs after saying this. Her mother called unto her, Sunita!!! Let her go, here father responded.
Vijay was at a loss of words, he stood up and was about to go to his room when his aunty, his father's sister who came visiting from her husband's house that day suddenly spoke.
Ravi, you over pampered her, now look at her arrogance. She is such an ungrateful girl. Vijay spoke, aunty, nodding his head to acknowledge her presence and proceeded to go to his room.
Before he could do that, Sunita with tears ran downstairs, was holding a sharp knife. She screamed so much that everyone in the house came to the living room to check what was going on.
Sunita put that knife down, don't hurt yourself again, Ravi spoke. If you all try to force me to accept the marriage alliance or stop me from getting married to Rohit, I will take my life right now, Sunita replied.
Her mum cried and said, Sunita think about me, think about your family, don't do this. One of her uncles decided to get close to her to take the knife away from her before she hurts herself with it.
She screamed and told him to stay back, she raised the knife, ready to stab herself as she continued, don't come close, nobody should come close, otherwise I would stab myself and take my own life, her tears continued to flow down her cheeks freely.
Her uncle nor anyone else didn't try to take the knife away from her anymore. Her mum tugged at her dad with tears in her eyes, she said, Ravi please do something, don't let Sunita take her life, if she does, I won't forgive you.
Ravi looked at his wife, he saw the tears and pain in her eyes, he was also pained that Sunita his daughter is causing such ruckus because of her feelings for Rohit.
Ravi then spoke to Sunita, Sunita dear, please put the knife down, don't cause your mother and I pain anymore. Sunita still refused, she raised the knife higher and was about to stab herself.
Ravi then yelled and said with pain in his voice, I will let you get married to Rohit, in fact I will make him marry you. Don't kill yourself, please put the knife down, your family loves you.
Sunita paused, did not try to kill herself anymore, she replied and said, really dad? You will make Rohit marry me? Yes dear I will prove it to you, just put the knife down.
He called the company lawyer, put him in loud speaker and told him to come to the Bhatt Mansion. Sunita still held on to the knife till the lawyer came to the house. Everyone in the house was tensed up.
When the lawyer came, Ravi instructed him to put marriage to his daughter Sunita as a clause in the contract that Rohit was going to sign on Monday. The lawyer did as instructed without questions.
It was not until Sunita saw this that she relaxed and did not threaten to kill herself anymore. When Vijay saw that she had relaxed and calmed down, he went close to her and gently took away the knife from her. He then gave one of the maids the knife to put it away in the kitchen.
Sunita's face brightened and said thanks dad. Don't speak to Rohit about this, Ravi responded. Allow me handle this and don't call him either, after I make him sign the contracts, you can now resume communication with him. Ok dad I won't call him. Thanks mum, Sunita said and wiped her face and went upstairs to her room.
Ravi had instructed Rohit to stop all forms of communication with Sunita before, he knew that if Sunita tried to contact him, he would not respond to her and that would make Sunita worry. He can't be watching her all the time, he wouldn't know what she would do next to herself.
And if she takes her life, his wife Trisha would be devastated, blame him and may never forgive him for it for the rest of her life. Although he did not like the idea of Rohit getting married to Sunita, her well being was more important to him and his hands were tied.
The company lawyer left after a while, the house hold came to normalcy and everyone went about their daily activities. Ravi's sister who came for a visit, also went back to her husband's house that same day.
In Delhi University
Sonal and Jumpa had demonstrated their answer practically to Desha. Desha was satisfied with their answers, she was not mischievous this time around.
As at the time they headed out of the university, it was already evening. Sonal and Jumpa did not go home to their respective houses but rather followed Desha into the Mehra Mansion.
They went into Mehra Mansion to honour the dinner invitation from Lakshmi Mehra. Inside the house, namaste mum, Desha greeted. Namaste aunty, Sonal and Jumpa greeted respectively.
Namaste girls, Lakshmi responded with smiles on her face. Please do come in, she then instructed one of the maids to show them to the dinning table. When they were sitted, one of the maids offered them sweets, thanks aunty, they said, received the sweets and ate.
By this time Desha had gone upstairs to her room to put away her things, she came back shortly after to join her mum, Sonal and Jumpa at the dinning table. Dinner was served, they had a nice meal.
Sonal and Jumpa did not see Purhab Mehra till they left, he was still in the office, Prakash was at the army barracks, Yuvi was in the pent house with Natasha, grandma and grandpa were at Udi village, uncle and aunty Mehra took their only son and child overseas for treatment. He had kidney disease.
Before Sonal and Jumpa left, they thanked LakshmiI Mehra for the delicious dinner and promised that they would assist Desha in the best possible way they can. In the car Jumpa said to Sonal. Did you notice that Madam Mehra was treating you like a daughter in-law?
Lakshmi noticed it, she did not tell Jumpa of the encounter with Madam Mehra at Delhi mall a long time ago, and her wishes for her to be her daughter in-law. She replied Jumpa, Madam Mehra was just being nice, don't think too much about it.
