Chapter 52: Sunita Had Been Stabilised
Ravi and Trisha spent the whole night at Bombay Teaching Hospital, i was already 5am already. During the night, her condition had deteriorated and she almost went into coma. The doctors were able to stabilise her but she was still not out of danger yet.
When the doctor who informed them about her condition earlier came out, Ravi inquired of him of how well Suniita is doing. He informed Ravi Bhatt afterwards that she had not yet woken up, she had to wake up first otherwise she is not out of danger yet.
While Trisha sat in the sit at the waiting area of the hospital ward, Sunita was in, Ravi stood up and paced up and down. Her parents were very worried, it was already 5am in the morning and she had not yet woken up. She even got worse during the night.
Ravi and Trisha took turns ad exchanged positions from time to time. When Ravi sat, Trisha stood and when Trisha sat, Ravi stood. It was not until 6am in the morning that the doctor came back out.
Ravi and Trisha both stood up together as the doctor approached them, they quickly asked, how is Sunita, is she stabilised now? The informed them afterwards that Sunita had been stabilised, had finally woken up and out of danger now.
They were relieved upon hearing the good news from the doctor, that Sunita has woken up and no longer in danger. Trisha then asked if she could go in and see Sunita.
The doctor while still holding the hospital record file of Sunita replied her by asking, who is Rohit? Ever since she woke up, she has been asking for Rohit. I advice that Rohit goes in first. It would help in her fast recovery. The doctor left immediately after saying this.
Ravi became furious, he was inside the hospital, and he could not express his anger. Then he said unconsciously said out loud, no I won't let that scum of a boy Rohit come near Sunita.
He did not want to worsen the condition of his daughter, so he did not go in immediately to see her nor did he allow Trisha to go in and see her first.
He clearly remembered the doctors orders, Rohit has to go in and see her first. Sunita was now awake now, he did not have to worry much anymore. So he told his wife Trisha to come that they should be heading home now.
He had spent the whole night at the hospital and he had work to attend to. Trisha, although relived that Sunita was awake now, she was not too pleased that she did not get to see Sunita.
She was very tired just as Ravi and she did not want to argue with him, and she cared about her daughter's quick recovery. She followed Ravi outside of the hospital to go home. Vijay had sent the driver very early in the morning to pick them up.
The driver drove them home. When they got home, the family members having gotten news of her recovery from them became relieved. They now went about their daily activities.
Ravi took a hot bath, freshened up and went straight to the office. He did not bother having breakfast. As Ravi was getting ready, Vijay left for work, his car was brought in by the mechanics early that morning and now in good condition. But he did not drive himself, he had one of the drivers drive him.
Trisha also freshened up, she did not have breakfast either, but slept off all through the morning in her nice comfy bed. Her sister in-laws and the maid did not disturb her through out, they allowed her rest very well.
They took charge of the preparations and cooking of the house hold meals for that day and did not bother Trisha about any of it, because of what she went through, staying overnight at the hospital, worried sick for Sunita.
Ravi in the office, had eye bags because he stayed overnight at the hospital, pacing back and forth, worried sick for Sunita. Vijay went to his office, then advised him that he should schedule the board room meeting for the afternoon session.
He told him that it's best if it is done that morning, so that they can take the rest of the day off to go back to go see his sister, Sunita. He would leave Vijay's uncle, his brother to take charge of the running of things at office while they are gone.
Vijay saw reason in what his dad said, he left Ravi's office and went to the board room to ensure that all was set for the meeting and that it should go on smoothly, like it has been for more than a week now.
Before he could finish the inspection of the board room, his phone started ringing. He looked at the caller I.D, it was Ravi, his dad calling. He wondered why Ravi was calling him, he just left his office, few minutes ago.
He picked up the call and before he could say hello, his father spoke up with a panicked voice. Vijay we have to go to the hospital now, the hospital just called me that Sunita's condition had deteriorated.
But dad, according to the doctor this morning, you said she was fine, but what happened all of a sudden that her condition had deteriorated? Vijay asked.
Vijay we would know when we get to the hospital, your uncle will take care of work in the office, I also told him to schedule the board room meeting for later in the afternoon, your sister's health is more important.
Meet me outside in the car, and don't let your mother know about this, she won't be able to take it if she finds out that your sister's condition had deteriorated. Ok dad, Vijay replied and hanged up afterwards.
Vijay hurried out of the board room, he took the elevator downstairs and went outside to join his father in his car. He entered the front sit with the driver while Ravi was at the back sit, in the owners corner.
As soon as Vijay entered, Ravi instructed his personal driver to go to Bombay Teaching Hospital. The driver did not hesitate, he drove the car as fast as possible, but not too fast to disobey the traffic lights and warrant a ticket.
Before the car reached the hospital, Vijay asked, dad did you and mum see Sunita when she woke up this morning? No Vijay, she demanded she wanted to see Rohit as soon as she opened her eyes.
And the doctor advised we let him go in first, and I won't allow that, otherwise your mum and I would have gotten in and seeing her. I don't want her to see Rohit.
They both remained silent until the car reached Bombay Teaching Hospital. They came out of the car and rushed inside. When they saw the doctor, the doctor told them that Sunita had been given sedatives and that she is calm now, but however, if this continues, she might go into coma. The doctor then advised Ravi again that Rohit should go in first and see her when she wakes up again.
Ravi and Vijay came out of the doctors office and sat down in the long bench in the waiting area outside of the ward that Sunita was currently admitted in. They had worried look on their faces.
Dad why don't you call Rohit here, let's take the doctor's advice, Sunita's health is more important. Let's just play along until she recovers completely and then we bring her home.
And then what if she tries to take her life again after we stop Rohit from seeing her all over again? Ravi asked.
Vijay did not answer immediately, it seemed like he was thinking about something. He replied after a while and said dad, Sunita had always wanted to travel to Dubai ever since she was a little girl.
Well we can send her there along with mum to look after her, when she travels to Dubai, am sure she would forget about Rohit. Right now, the marriage alliance is not working. Am sure your friend and family will understand. Sunita's health is very important.
Ravi thought about what Vijay had suggested, it was a brilliant idea. He said, ok Vijay, I will send for Rohit to come see Sunita, after all he is the reason Sunita is lying down in the hospital bed right now. I hope your idea works. Let's give it a shot, he said bitterly.
Rohit and his assistant were currently having breakfast, he had a message earlier from Bhatt Conglomerates that the meeting had been scheduled for later in the afternoon.
He looked at the caller I.D, he froze and swallowed hard on his food. His assistant saw his expression and asked, who is calling? He stammered as if he was standing in the presence of President Bhatt and said it's President Bhatt.
His assistant became worried, be started to regret why he even suggested the idea to Rohit, to date Sunita to get in President Bhatt's good side. Instead of getting on his good side, they ended up getting on his bad side. But he was grateful that their chances of still participating in bidding for the contract was not cut short, otherwise him and Rohit would have been in big trouble.
Rohit drank water, he picked up the call, hello sir, he said while stammering. He kept on nodding his head, still frightened as he listened on what President Bhatt on the other end of his phone had to say. In the end he said ok sir and hung up.
Sweat had broken out of his forehead, even though the air conditioning was on inside the restaurant. His assistant then asked him why did President Bhatt had called him.
Rohit looked at him, he was dumb founded, and before he could answer his assistant, the bodyguards of President Bhatt were standing beside them. Rohit already knew why they came, he stood up, his assistant followed suit.
Let's go with them, I would tell you all about it in the car, where it is safe to talk. He moved out of the restaurant with his assistant while the bodyguards followed them behind.
When they all got outside, the bodyguards directed them to where the car they were to enter was, in the parking lot. They entered, and they were driven straight to Bombay Teaching Hospital.
They arrived Bombay Teaching Hospital, Rohit and his assistant came out, his assistant now knew why President Bhatt had called Rohit to the hospital. Rohit told him all about it in the car.
The bodyguards directed them to the ward that Sunita was admitted into. When they reached the ward, outside in the waiting area, they became scared.
President Bhatt had on him a fierce look and Vijay was not looking friendly at all. They did not want to go near the President but the bodyguards ensured that they were standing in front of him.
President Bhatt stood up, Rohit and his assistant almost peed in their pants. He spoke fiercely to Rohit. You would have been thrown into Bombay Prison but Sunita's health is more important.
You would stay in this hospital until she wakes up. And when she does, see her quietly and ensure she recovers. Once she recovers and she is back home safe and sound, cut all form of contact with her, do I make myself clear? Yes President Bhatt, Rohit stammered while replying.
He instructed two of the bodyguards to keep an eye on both Rohit and his assistant, they should not leave the hospital, they should remain there until Sunita wakes up and he had seen her.
He looked at Vijay, let us go, he left with Vijay immediately while the rest of the bodyguards followed them behind. They went back to Bhatt Conglomerates and continued with their work respectively.
