Chapter 50: It's Time You Get Married
At the army barracks...
Sagar and Pulkit decided to spend sometime in Prakash and Ajay's room before retiring for the night. Trainings and exercises had become more fierce over the previous weeks.
In addition to their daily drills and combat sessions, they now trained with weapons and heavy machineries.
The promotion ceremony was approaching, some of their seniors were going to be promoted, some were going to be promoted as major generals to go oversee the new army barracks that will be set up, as the head, while some will be promoted to be platoon leaders over there.
The seniors who didn't get to be promoted lacked consistency. For a soldier to be promoted he or she needed to be consistent in every aspect. Not great at one and poor at the other tasks.
To be poor in tasks here meant he or she is not performing as excellently well as in the other task, but the performance is not so low as to warrant a kick out of the army.
Sagar and Pulkit were in Prakash and Ajay's room for one main reason, they needed strategies of how they will get promotion as well.
The lower ranks, like that of Prakash would not be left out of the promotion. Earlier in the day, their platoon officers had informed them that the lower ranks will be given the opportunity of a promotion to a higher rank if they merit it.
The higher ranks for them for a promotion will be among those officers who were in charge of residency in the army barracks, or who took charge of heading the daily drills, combats and training session on a daily basis.
Prakash and his buddies has being performing excellently well from day one. The slots for a promotion for the higher ranks were limited when compared to the number of junior soldiers.
For those who could not get promotion to higher ranks will be given a special badge to indicate that they are no longer new recruits.
Prakash and his buddies were among the favourites to get this promotion to higher ranks but they did not want to glory in that and slack off.
Prakash then suggested to his buddies that they need to train harder, he suggested that at night when the others had gone to bed, they should go out into the training fields and train extra hard.
His buddies agreed, Prakash then gave the responsibility of Ajay to get permission from their platoon officer the next day. They all agreed they would start the extra training session the next day.
The four of them were in the same platoon. When the four of them came to a final agreement, Sagar and Pulkit then went to their rooms.
The next day...
Very early in the morning, the four of them had woken up and earlier than the others, Ajay then went ahead to the business/media house in the barracks to draft a permissions letter.
When he came back, they all quickly signed their names, Ajay then proceeded to go hand it over to their platoon officer to grant them permission before the general training for the day commenced.
When Ajay got to the office of their platoon officer, he greeted army style and stated his purpose for being there. Their platoon officer took the letter from Ajay and told him to report back to him at the end of the day to get a report concerning the permission letter.
Ajay greeted army style again and left the office of their platoon officer. He returned shortly after to his room. His buddies were waiting for his reply there.
Ajay explained to them that they have to wait till the end of day after the daily drills and trainings to get a reply from their platoon officer.
They understood and hoped that they get permitted, otherwise they might get kicked out of the army if they are caught in the training fields at such hour without proper permission.
Not too long after Ajay came back, the others had woken up and prepared themselves for the day, it was almost time for their daily drills and trainings.
The four of them then decided to go out to the training fields first, the other will join them. When they got there, they saw a few of their colleagues including the skinny soldier who had gained a little weight now.
Meanwhile at the Bhatt Mansion...
The full household was sitted at the dinning table for breakfast including the little ones except Sunita. Ever since her father forbade her from seeing or communicating with Rohit, she had not being joining them at the dinning table to meal.
Her mum will send the maids to go give her breakfast, lunch and dinner in her room. As the maids were dishing out the foods, Ravi asked his wife Trisha if Sunita will not be coming down for breakfast today aswell.
Trisha answered and said, I don't think so, she is among the first to always come down to the dinning table to meal. Everyone is already sited at the table and she is not here yet.
Ravi looked at Trisha and then turned to one of the maids dishing their meals, go fetch Sunita, it is important she comes down for breakfast, don't serve her in her room.
Sunita was in her room, she had showered and was already dressed up. She had the intention of going downstairs for breakfast, she just wanted to take her time in doing that.
The maid knocked on her room, she asked her to come in. Namaste miss Sunita, she greeted. Namaste she greeted back. Your father calls for you, to come downstairs for breakfast, the maid said.
Ok I will be down in no time, Sunita replied. The maid left her room and informed Ravi that Sunita was on her way downstairs for breakfast.
Sunita came downstairs soon, greeted Namaste to everyone sitted at the dinning table. She sat down on her sit, the maids served her and she began eating.
As she ate, her father said to her, get yourself prepared this evening. One of my friend and business partner will be coming with his son to ask your hand in marriage.
Everyone at the table was shocked including Trisha his wife. She had no idea of the decisions concerning Sunita that Ravi took. She looked at him. She did not want to oppose her husband in front of everyone so she became supportive of him.
She looked at Sunita and said, Sunita dear, your dad is doing this for your own good. Be grateful. Sunita did not yell but she asked with tears in her eyes, mum you are in support of this?
Her mum looked at her but did not reply. Ravi then said to his wife, see to it that she gets prepared to meet her inlaws this evening.
One of her aunties in the table then spoke to Sunita, Sunita dear, it's time you get married, you are of age now, don't cry ok. I will give you tips of how to be a good wife to your husband and to your in-law.
Her husband, Sunita's uncle then said, yes Sunita, look your aunty is taking good care of me very well, she does equally well in the sight of her inlaws, you should take her a cue from her.
The others in the table all agreed that Sunita should get married soon, they had all heard of how she almost caused a scandal with Rohit. They believed this is the best decision for her.
Sunita continued to cry softly, she couldn't continue with her breakfast, so she ran upstairs to her room. Her brother called up to her but her father told him to let her be.
After Sunita got inside her room, she locked her room door, she laid on her bed and continued to cry, she cried more profusely now.
After a while, she began to sob, she went into her bathroom, washed her face with warm water and used her face towel dry her face.
Sunita then took her phone and dialled Rohit's number. Rohit was about to pick when he remembered her father's threat. He loved her but he loves himself more. he did not want to rot in Bombay Prison.
So hid did not pick up, Sunita tried his number again and it was switched off. She began to cry again instantly.
Everyone downstairs had finished their meal, Ravi went to his room to get a document he had forgotten to put in his briefcase. Trisha followed him and tried to talk him out of making a rash decision concerning Sunita.
He did not buy into it, he explained to Trisha that he had given Sunita the chance to pick any one of his friends' sons but she refused. He had no choice but to pick one for her. The one who he thinks and believes is well off than the others and who will treat her right.
Trisha did not want to have an argument with her husband so she said no more and agreed in the end to help get Sunita prepared for her inlaw's visit later in the evening.
By this time, the little ones had joined their schools bus and had gone to school. Sunita's uncle had left for work. Vijay her brother, rides in his own car to work, but his car had broken down and was out for repairs, so he had to wait for Ravi to give him a ride to the office.
Ravi came downstairs, Vijay helped carry his father's suit case, they went outside of the mansion after bidding wife and mother Trisha a good bye. Vijay entered the front sit with the driver while Ravi entered the back sit, the one meant for the owners. The driver drove them afterwards to the office.
At Bhatt Conglomerates, the meetings in the board room for the contract that Rohit was bidding for is usually held in the mornings, but the company had an important client who was coming in, that morning to talk business.
The client was very important, that President Bhatt had to attend to personally. Because of this, the meeting at the board room had to be scheduled for later in the afternoon.
President Bhatt successful attended to the important client. When afternoon came, the meeting at the board room commenced.
Rohit and his assistant now knew that using the back door won't help them, so they had to work extra hard, they even called some of their top directors in Burih firm back home in Delhi who gave them a better insight into where they got it wrong the other time.
Rohit and his assistant had learned their lesson, after what had happened to them in the last board room meeting, they decided to always prepared a back up plan, a plan B idea from now on.
President Bhatt didn't stop them from participating in bidding for the contract but Rohit and his assistant were still a little bit scared in the board room.
When it was their turn to present their business ideaa, Rohit stammered a little at first when he began but as time went on, he became more confident and did not miss words anymore.
When he was done, the others who had not yet presented, took over and presented their own ideas of a business for the contract and how it should be carried out successfully to yield maximum results.
As at the time the meeting was over, it was already 5pm. Rohit and his assistant did not hesitate to go, they were the first to exit the board room.
As they left, they were nervous. They did not want to experience the wroth of President Bhatt, especially Rohit who had experienced it before. As they exited the building, they immediately boarded a taxi and fled.
No matter how expensive the taxi was, Rohit was ready to pay, as long as it can take them far away from Bhatt Conglomerates as fast as possible.
The price rate of a taxi is different from another if they are from different taxi companies. Rohit and his assistant had boarded the most expensive taxi.
