Chapter 39: Favourites To Win The Contract
The next morning...
Sonal had suddenly woken up because of the dream she had, it was 4 am at this time. She was not frightened but rather she was thinking about the meaning of the dream.
She keeps dreaming of the same soldier whose face she is yet to see and her father trying to prevent him from getting close to her.
She had not thought of the meaning of the similar dream she had dreamt before, because she had not try to put meaning into it and understand it.
This time around she decided to put meaning into it and understand it. The dream was beginning to become too much and similar in nature.
She put on the reading lamp at the side of her bed and sat down on her bed. She rubbed her eyes briefly and began to think deeply.
She did not mind that she had work as early as 7 am in the morning. This dream had woken her up suddenly and she had to get to the bottom of it.
First of all, she thought, her dad is ruthless, and now that he is charge of the army barracks as the army officer in charge, he is bound to be more ruthless.
She thought about how her dad had to convince her to study abroad to ward off men who are scums away from her in India.
His relatives had moved and now lives abroad. He wanted her to be close to them as well because it had been long she last saw them since she was a child.
And he felt she would be more safe with more relatives watching over her than just him and his wife Shruti who are not always present at home.
Secondly she thought about this unknown soldier who seems to care for her and wants to protect her from her uncaring fiancee.
But her question was who is he? Everytime she dreamt, his face was not seen. She began to worry a little just thinking about him.
She thought to herself, her dad her betrothed her to Yash, and if indeed this soldier does exist in real life who cares for her so much, then her dad won't spare him.
Her worries increased, if he is a soldier who is currently at her father's army base, she prays that her father is yet to know of his intentions towards her.
Her father wouldn't try to understand, he would punish him just like how he did in her dreams or even more than that in real life.
As she was thinking, she was surprised at her thoughts, for a soldier she had not seen and not even sure he exist.
She had never for once get worried for her fiancée Yash and even when he gets drunk sometimes, she still didn't get worried about him.
She knows she has no feelings for Yash but she thought to herself that she should at least worry for him even if it is just a little.
She continued thinking and not long after that she decided to have an early start of the day. She went to shower and got dressed. It was already 5 am when she was done.
She checked her handbag to ensure that everything she needed was complete, she had arranged it the previous night before she slept.
When it was 5:30 am, she went downstairs to have her breakfast, her mum was still upstairs in her bedroom at this time.
As she was prepared to leave the house by 6 am, she informed her mum she was leaving for work.
Immediately she got into the car, her dad called her, she picked and greeted namaste dad. Her dad then went on in congratulating her on her job.
She was not surprised he knew about her job, she had not called to inform him, but her mum had informed her earlier that she had already informed her dad of her employment.
After the brief conversation with her dad, she hung up and reminded the driver that they will be picking Jumpa on their way. He replied and said yes miss and continued driving.
Meanwhile at the military base...
The friendly combat had began. While most of the new military personnel lost entirely to the old military personnel, Prakash and his buddies including Ajay were doing well.
Although they did not win all friendly combat contest they participated in, they still performed better than their peers.
Among the four of them, Prakash was the best, followed by Ajay then Pulkit and Sagar. After the friendly combat contest, prizes were awarded and the celebrations continued briefly.
They were informed afterwards shortly that the drill will resume at 12 noon sharp by the respective officers in charge of each platoon.
Ajay took this opportunity to call home, his grandma picked and he greeted namaste grandma, grandma responded, greeted him and asked how he was.
Am fine grandma and how is everyone at home? Everyone is fine Ajay, in fact they are all eager to speak to you.
Everyone at home took turns to greet him except his father, uncles and brothers who had gone to work and the little ones who were in school.
When he was speaking to Jasmine he asked her how she is and about her fiancée, his future brother in-law if he was back from his business trip.
She replied that she is fine and that Rohit would be back the following week when he is done with work at Bombay. They spoke further for a while before ending the call.
Rohit had to go back to enjoying the celebrations at the military base, such celebrations doesn't come everyday, he didn't want to miss out any further.
After the call ended, Jasmine then thought of Rohit and how she missed him and couldn't wait to see him when he returns to Delhi from his business trip.
She wanted to call him but restrained her self that he probably would be working and she did not want to disturb him.
She instead went into the kitchen to continue helping her mum with the food preparations. Though they had maids, her mum always included her so she would know how to prepare meals.
Meanwhile at Bombay...
So far Rohit and his assistant were the favorites to win the contract, they have been doing absolutely well so far.
Their proposals and presentations have been top notch. They have been working very hard and sometimes go the extra mile in research.
Things the others competitors would normally not do, Rohit and his assistant would do them and score extra points in the heart of President Bhatt.
President Bhatt was Impressed, at this point, he had already made up his mind to give the contract to Rohit and his assistant, but he did not inform them nor any of the board members of his decision.
He decided to let the competition between the companies to continue for the two weeks for formality sake.
