Chapter 36: Chocolate Biscuits Are The Best
The next day...
Sonal decided to join her mum in the garden. Her mum did not go out today to join her socialites friends for tea.
She decided she wanted to stay home and bond with her daughter Sonal. Sonal did not object to that idea.
Usually it was preferably for Shruti to bond with Sonal in the cool of the evening. But she decided to make it earlier at noon.
She came to that conclusion just in case Jasmine comes over and Sonal will be preoccupied and come back home late just like the previous day.
She did not want to be responsible for taking away friendship bonding time between Sonal and Jasmine.
Sited in the Garden, receiving fresh breeze from under the tree, and having a delicious cup of tea and biscuits to go with the tea, Shruti looked up and smiled when she saw her daughter Sonal approaching.
Sonal smiled back at her mum and when she was close to her, she greeted Namaste mum. Namaste Sonal her mum replied.
Come sit, sit beside me dear. Thanks mum Sonal replied as she sat down beside her. When Sonal was sited, Shruti instructed one of the bodyguards to get the butler.
The butler came and Shruti instructed him to get more tea and biscuits for Sonal. Shruti had earlier on exhausted the tea in the tea jar and the biscuits in the tray were almost finished aswell.
Yes madam, the butler responded. It didn't take long when he returned with fresh tea in the tea jar and more biscuits in the tray.
Shruti and Sonal both thanked the butler respectively. The butler served Sonal and her mum said. Here you go, have some delicious tea and biscuits, spend some more time with your mum.
Alright mum, Sonal replied and took the cup of tea that the butler had poured for her and ate some biscuits.
After a while Shruti spoke up again, Sonal do you remember when you were little and you didn't know what had happened to your biological mum?
Yes I remember mum, I remembered crying all day and night that I wanted my mummy. Yes dear you wept so much that some of the neighbours even called the police on your dad that he was maltreating you replied Shruti.
Your dad had to explain to the police several times that he had just lost his wife, and that is why you were crying that you needed your mum, God bless her soul.
The police even arrested your dad for a few hours until they finished their investigation, found out it was true and released him
Wow, I was told that dad had important work to do at that time by grand ma, I didn't know dad went through all that.
Well dear he did but that is past now. After a year of you not seeing your mum, you remember dad started bringing me over?
Yes, I remember mum. And you hated me because you thought I drove your mum away to be with dad? Yes mum. And you also started disliking your dad because you thought he allowed me drive mum away just to be with me. Yes mum I remember all.
Well dear do you also remember how I wanted to be close to you and I started buying you a lot of biscuits? Yes mum, I remember that aswell.
Your dad told me of how you love biscuits alot especially chocolate ones. Well mum I still love them, chocolate biscuits are the best.
They both laughed. Shruti then continued, you would take the biscuits from me, finish them and still be not nice but before your dad and I got married, the family had to explain to you what really happened to your mum.
How she got into an accident, well you cried so hard that I had to comfort you, you started getting closer to me after that.
And you were not upset with your dad anymore, we had nice times, went on vacation until our relatives from your dad side decided to relocate abroad.
Your relatives from my side were already living overseas, I met your dad there when he came for business, and I came back with him to India when he was returning.
Your relatives from your biological mum, after she passed away, decided not to keep any form of contact with your dad nor his relatives after he got married to me.
I never really asked dad this, but why did he not relocate overseas aswell? Well your dad wanted to serve India.
He wanted to be in the army, he was passionate about it, so he stayed back to pursue his dreams. And he is doing great at it.
Yes he is mum replied Sonal. About your applications, have you gotten any more interviews from the other TV stations you applied to? Asked Shruti.
Yes mum, I have one the day after tomorrow, replied Sonal. That is great, you are talented, you will sure get the job this time around said Shruti.
Thanks for the the encouragement mum. After that Sonal's phone started ringing. She thought the call was from Jasmine, but lo and behold it was an unknown number calling.
She wondered who it is that was calling her. She picked up the call and said Hello. After speaking with the caller for a while, she hung up.
Shruti then asked, who called dear? you looking bedazzled. The call was from Mehra TV, they want me to come to the station tomorrow along with my credentials.
Did they tell you why? No mum, I was told when I get to the TV station tomorrow, they will communicate the reason why my presence is requested.
Well I hope it's is good news. I hope so too mum. After the call, they received the breeze outside for a while before they went inside the house. As at the time they went inside it was already 4pm. The butlers cleared up the place afterwards.
Sonal went up to her room while Shruti went to the kitchen to instruct the cooks on what to prepare for dinner. When she was done with that, she then went up to her room to freshen up.
