Chapter 32: Ajay Was Just As Good As Prakash
The morning of the Interview...
Sonal woke up very early, she freshened up, ate breakfast with her mum, her mum wished her the best of luck after the meal.
She thanked her mum and headed out to Mehra TV for the interview. She has her own car but she decided to take the family car with bodyguards to accompany her.
Jasmine had also wished her best of luck that morning before she arrived at the interview. Desha was at school, Yuvi was at work.
They decided that it would be best if they come back after the new entertainment anchor has been recruited.
The meeting was at 9am, Sonal got there by 8am and familiarized her self with the place. Candidates were to pass three sections of interviews.
First, written interview, here a written test is taken, second, oral interview where they would have a chance to talk about themselves, and the final one a presentation where the candidates will act like the entertainment anchor and perform.
Other candidates started coming in, Sonal familiarized her self with a few of them, but she was focused, she came for the job and she was determined to get it.
Soon it was 9am. Sonal and the other candidates were sited in the conference room where they were given the written interview first.
After 30 minutes, the test scripts were collected. Those who failed the written interview could not proceed to the next stage, the oral interview.
At the oral interview, their credentials were collected, next they were asked a few question and given the chance to talk about themselves and their careers so far.
Again those who failed the oral interview could not proceed to the final stage of the Interview.
Sonal was in the final stage along with another candidate, a guy. It was not an easy task. They were asked to behave like the entertainment anchor and perform.
During the performance, Sonal slipped a little, she missed a line. The other candidate did excellently well.
Sonal was not happy about this. When the final result came, Sonal was not given the job but the other candidate.
Meanwhile at the Military base in the outskirt of Delhi...
The new recruits, including Prakash, Pulkit and Sagar, on arrivals, were made to run around the military base for 6hours.
They arrived at 6am, it was now 11am, an hour left before they are issued rooms at the base.
Some of the new recruits who got tired and could not take it anymore had stopped running. They were asked to leave the military base.
Their badges were stripped off of them. Prakash, Pulkit and Sagar were tired as well but they persevered, they did not give up.
They kept on running round the military base with the others who did not give up as well. Soon it was 12noon.
They were made to stop by the top military officers. After they stopped, each of them were given rooms, two in a room.
Pulkit and Sagar were room mates while Prakash and another military guy called Ajay Singh, the brother of Jasmine, were room mates.
Ajay was just as good as Prakash, they introduced themselves and became friends. Prakash introduced Ajay to Pulkit and Sagar later on and the four of them went out for the parade.
In the parade, Gevan Arora Introduced himself as the overall head of the army officers. He urged the new successful recruits that they came to serve India, that they should not relent in service to the nation.
He also urged the older recruits that they should continue in the good work they started in service to their nation India.
After his speech, he was applauded. Other army officers in charge of different drills also introduced themselves.
After the introductions, the new and old recruits were made to match round the military base in synchrony.
They matched round till it was dark enough. When it was 6 pm, they were made to stop and retire to their rooms for drills the next day.
Usually there is a tradition in the Military base that new recruits are treated to a party at the military bar.
The officers did not object to this as long as they desisted from fighting and causing havoc and quaos.
Prakash, Pulkit and Sagar including Ajay went for the party as new recruits. They parties and enjoyed themselves. They also danced with other females new recruits.
When the party ended, it was already 10pm before they all retired to their rooms to get set for drills for the next day.
Meanwhile at the Mehra mansion...
Sonal at the dinner table, barely touched her food, her mother tried to cheer her up, she told Sonal that more interviews will come her way from other media houses she had applied to.
Sonal replied and said thanks mum for trying to cheer me up, but I really wanted the job at Mehra TV.
I know Sonal, but don't give up, one day you will have another chance at Mehra TV. For now focus on gaining more experience with other media houses.
She cheered up a little and said thanks mum. Now eat your dinner, you barely touched it. Ok mum, she ate a little and went upstairs.
By this time her mum had gone to her room upstairs as well. The maids and butlers cleared the dinner table after they left.
When Sonal got upstairs she gave Jasmine a call and told her how she didn't get the job. Jasmine cheered her up as well that she will get an chance at it someday.
Sonal then asked Jasmine about Rohit and how his business meetings went. She replied by saying according to what Rohit had told her, the business meeting went well and Burih firm is the favorite to win the contract.
Sonal was happy for Jasmine, thanks girl, said Jasmine. You welcome girl, said Sonal. They both chatted some more before ending the call and slept afterwards.
