Laying in his hospital bed surrounded by his children and grandchildren, Leo felt content. Having lost the love of his life 6 years prior, Leo understood their pain. Smiling happily towards his family Leo laughed brightly "Dont make that face everyone, I don't feel bad about going now. Just like your Ma said 'You can't outrun Death only complain when it wrecks your shit!'".
Leo Falls died later that evening, smiling knowing his family would be alright. Unknown to himself but Death wasn't his last stop.
Unlike other stories where the protagonist suddenly appears in a convenient story location. Leo found himself trapped in a repeat viewing of his life, reliving his best and worst moments. Cognizant of the life he lived, he smiled and cried as he watched. Emotionally drained after every repeat, he 'learnt' to appreciate this torturous experience. Noticing 'small' mistakes during his review and missed chances allowed him to better understand his personal faults.
Throughout this long, exceedingly long period of time. Leo learnt patience or more realistically learnt his powerlessness. Humbling and infuriating in equal measures Leo had come to accept the more harsh realities of his situation, he would be here till he wasn't. Some would think this such an obvious thing but Leo had always held out some hope that some Omnipotent being would suddenly appear and free him.
It didn't.
