Chapter 25: An Unexpected Encounter

After talking to her older sister, Isla took a shower and dressed up herself to attend the University. It's only a week after their new academic session started.

As a student of one of the top law schools in the country, she studied very hard and gave her all. Despite the tough competitive conditions, she was still the top student at her class. All her professors favored her and they had a very high hopes for her. She was smart and brilliant in all her lessons.

Isla wore a white shirt with a dark blue jeans. Her dress were always as simple as before. She untied her dark brown hair which covered till the middle of her upper arm. She used a little make up as usual. Isla is now 24 years old. She had grown up into a beautiful and gorgeous woman.

Though her dress were simple, the luxurious omega watch on her left hand really stood out. It was the luxurious omega constellation co-axial 27 mm watch, characterized by its famous griffes and striking dials. It was silver in color. It featured a white pearled mother of pearl dial with 10 diamond indexes and a date window at 6 o'clock. There was also a small seconds featured at 9 o'clock that includes 4 diamond markers in 18K of red gold holders. It cost approximately $9000. It was a gift she received last year on her birthday. The quality was good enough to work for half decade.

Isla picked up all the necessary materials for her study and left her house. She drove the latest model of Chevrolet Camaro car, blue in colour. It was gifted to her by her father when she was the gold medalist in Political Science one year ago.

As it was only thirty minutes drive between her house and her university, Isla reached her university in no time. She first went to the library to pick up some books for her project. Then she went to her classroom. She sat near her friend named Jennifer. They had been friends since their first year.

Isla was not in touch with Davina and Celine after she left Houston. She send them a message saying that she will contact them one day and asked them not to changed their email address until that day comes. She changed her phone number and email address but memorized their email address.

Isla did all these things because she was afraid that she will changed her mind if she heard news about August from her friends; only to get hurt again. She already went through it once, after many years of suffering. It was the hardest thing she ever experienced in her life. If it ever happens again, she will never be able to went through it. She barely did once, but it was impossible to do twice!

She even convinced her parents to changed their address after they returned to New York. She wanted to make sure that none of her friends would be able to find her. They sold their house and purchased a new house, not much far from their previous house. All her hard work paid off for none of her friends were able to tracked her down during the past eight years.

Isla contacted Davina and Celine about two weeks ago. They talked for a while on the phone. They even set a plan to meet this week, only two days left from now. Though the duo were still living in Houston, they were more than excited to meet their old friend. They suggested to come to Boston to meet her. Isla refused because she didn't want them to spend so much money and time just to meet her. But they insisted to come and left no room for argument. She finally accepted as she was also very excited to meet them. Eight years was such a long time!

Jennifer was also a good friend for Isla. She was her closest friend at the University. Jennifer had a carefree behaviour, so similar to Davina. She had a good background and a great and loving parents. She was the only child, so she was spoiled a bit, but not in a bad way. She was one of the two people who always lifted Isla's mood and made her laughed. Isla always felt relaxed when she was with her.

"You're almost late today. What did you do today morning?" Jennifer crossed her arms, giving Isla a suspicious look.

"Hmph! You and your suspicions. I went to the library to collect some materials for the project that Professor Brown gave us. Happy now?" Isla giggled at her childish friend. Though they were the same age, she's like a little girl to her.

Jennifer was delighted to hear such things. She opened her mouth trying to say something. Isla stopped her. "Not this time. You should do it on your own. I won't help you." Isla glared at her.

Jennifer didn't try to back down easily. "But I'm sick these days. You know me well. Please help me out. Just this time, okay? Please, Isla!" She said with a sweet yet childish voice. She showed her a cute expression and looked at her with a puppy eyes. "Please, okay?" She repeated.

Isla was at a loss of words for her cute yet childish behaviour. She always convinced her with her cute and childish expression whenever she wants her to do something for her. She smiled and shook her head. "You're spoiled so much. You need to grow up soon."

Jennifer seemed to be a bit down because of her answer. Isla looked at her friend and sighed. "Fine. This will be the last time."

Jennifer hugged Isla, shaking her nonstop. "You're the best!"

During the break, Isla went to the law school cafeteria. The law school had a separate building, campus, library, cafeteria and all. She was talking to someone on the phone while ordering a Cappuccino for her.

While she was standing, waiting for her order; she heard a familar voice beside her. She was struck to the core as she heard the man's voice. Her mind urged her to turned her head and take a look at the one who owned the familiar voice; but her body refused to do so. She clenched her fist, hoping it was not what she thought. After almost a minute, she finally made up her mind.

Isla slowly turned her head to the man standing beside her. As she saw the face of the man, Isla was startled like never before. Eight years had passed but she still didn't forget even his voice. For her, his face was impossible to forget. She stared at him for a few seconds without realizing it.

She finally came to her sense as August turned his head to her, a little smile on his face. He seemed to be shocked too. "Isla? Is that you?" His voice were as calm as always.

Isla can't say a single word. She was tight lipped. All her efforts to hide away from him forever were futile. It was all a waste. Now that she met him again, her greatest fear had come true....
