Chapter 3: Exeptional Beauty
Guinevere
"But darling,you know how much of importance is this to us. The Paxley Family have excellent records when it comes to magic and they are by far the most powerful. This is a rare chance for us." We were walking on the balcony as we argue.
"ugh! I AM NEVER MARRYING SOMEONE I DONT LOVE!. How many times must i repeat that,Daddy?"
Daddy seemed scared by my shout.
"I am not fine of marrying someone just because he's from an excellent family. I wanna be free to choose who I love." I looked at the window. The sun shines so bright today.
"It's a lovely day and i dont want to ruin it by arguing with you,Daddy." i held his hands "Let's just leave this matter,okay?" I kissed daddy's cheek and went to the garden.
I met up with my friends there,all from noble families of course, and it seems they were talking about something before I arrived.
"Good morning everyone." I smiled. They were quiet when I arrived. "hehe,what's wrong?" I let out an awkward smile.
"is it true,Guinevere? That you're getting married?" Catherine asked me
I froze.
"That's absurd. Who dares to spread rumors about me. I will not tolerate them!"
"I-it's true. Your father already arranged countless invitations for your wedding with a Paxley. He is going to give you a grand wedding."said Elizabeth.
I was completely angry all of the sudden but I didn't show it,instead I smiled quite forcefully. I never accept to be wed like this,especially when my groom is someone I don't know.
I turned my back,left my friends and headed straight for my father's room. I arrived there and kicked the door open. He was enjoying his morning tea in his bed and I approached him.
*deep breath* "Father"
He stopped sipping his tea and looked at me nervously.
"W-what is it,Darling?"
"Father. Who told my friends that I was to be wed to a Paxley?" I smiled.
"That was uh... a precautionary measure. in case,you changed your mind"
"What kind of precautionary measure do you have in mind when you sent invitations to all barons,nobles, and earls thoughout the land?! I have refused,haven't I? You are forcing me to marry. You are depriving me of my freedom!"
He was quiet but then...
"Listen here,Guinevere Baroque." my father raised his voice. "You are to be wed by Dawn. You will have a grand wedding and all nobles of the land will attend. You will take a Paxley for a husband and you will not disappoint me. Do I make myslef clear?"
I became quiet and I stormed out of the room.
I was too frustrated that I couldn't even eat lunch and just crouched on my bed. I refused to let anyone inside my room.
"What should I do? I cannot accept this. I cannot let myself be driven around by people for their own advantage. I just can't"
I tightly hugged my pillow while desperately trying to find a way to escape this mess.
*Knock knock
"Miss,Your father wants a word with you"
I opened the door using my magic and my father went inside.
He sat beside my bed and stroked my hair.
"Guinevere....."
I didn't respond
*sigh* "You know when i was your age,I didn't had someone to love. Then my parents thought of way for me to be married. I didn't accept,of course, but I thought about it. I may have the power to choose my own way but my parents highly expected me to marry. After countless of efforts by my parents,I gave in. I met your mother a month before our marriage. At first,I didn't think that my acceptance to this marriage was worth it but when we were wed,I finally realized that I could come to love people who I judged to be unlovable. Because of that, I came to love your mother very deeply. Because of that,We had you."
I still kept quiet ,not uttering a sound, not even a murmur.
"Guinevere,I know it's hard for you but.... You are the only hope for our family."
*ting
An Idea popped into my mind when Father mentioned 'only hope'. I'm not an only child. I have a Brother who has been wandering about. If he is here,he may be the one who will be betrothed and not me. All I need to do is find him!
"Darling,You have to accept this marriage. Alright?"
I sat up and nodded.
My father smiled and hugged me.
"It will be alright,I promise."
I let out a nice grin as he hugged me.
*Dusk*
I have practiced my magic for this. I spent the whole afternoon making a portal to my brother's whereabouts.
"Just a little more dust. There."
I finally finished my Portal. All I need to do is chant the spell. I was halfway through my spell when my father knocked on the door. My eyes widened but I continued chanting.
"Guinevere?"
I am almost at the end of the spell.A very bright light was glowing in my room. My father may have noticed it and opened the door.
"Guinevere,what are you doing?!"
He almost held me when I finished the chant then my room was engulfed with the light.

I opened my eyes. I was in the middle of a forest.
"I succeeded!" I happily shouted.
The moon was bright and there was a giant arc of rock to where I'm standing.
"Huh.Now where's that brother of mine?"
I looked around and saw him. Lancelot,my older brother,who had long disappeared from the family due to unknown circumstances.
"Hello,brother"
I came closer to him. He was sleeping.I giggled.
'Maybe i should tell him the news when he's awake.'
I sat beside him and slept, waiting for Dawn to arrive.
