2 - HAKIM
"Wield your sheilds , your life depends on it , swords , you morons , that is not how you hold them , such amazing metal wasted on useless shards as you " kept yelling captain Vizar .Vizar, a quite tall man tanned skin , with face that could pass for an unromantic . A scar over left cheek that pulled upto his forehead made them ladies stay at a distance from him .But he did wear it as the medal of honour . He was the head of the army and it was his recruitment day , the day he hated the most as he had to deal with beginners and bundle of knuckleheads .
And as always Aeon sneaked up to training ground to witness the one man that intimidated him . The training ground was not away from the palace , it was a huge circular area , surrounded by a brown wall and a platform over the wall , the platform acted as a base for building up the seats for people . The wall had seven tunnels , or the so called entrance points that led into the trial rooms , armoury and the waiting rooms . It was quite a special place to the people as it held the most entertaining , annual fights .
Aeon imitated the moves of Vizar and kept practicing them , he was too young to be let into the ground ,so this was all he could do , and he never missed the chance whenever he got one. It was time , the training was done for the noon , the trainees began walking back through the tunnels and Vizar took off his helmet , his hair stuck to his head with sweat , he then turned to the platform and looked at Aeon , Aeon stood still not knowing what to do . Vizar then bent his neck as a respect for the prince and to this Aeon just kept smiling feeling quite a bit happy about him being a prince . Vizar walked away too , and it was time so Aeon took off to the streets .
"Hakim , Hakim " yelled Aeon as he went looking for the beggar . " Watch your steps kid , I am not a medicine man to help you if you break your head " replied Hakim with a sarcastic note . "whatever , anyways Hakim , have you seen Vizar fight and train , he just goes wushh ...wushhh.. with his arms " the kid spoke with enthusiasm swinging his arms in air trying to imitate the captain . Hakim just laughed and told " yes , yes Vizar , I know him , he is truly one of the few honest beings around here , do you know he is always quiet because he is afraid he might raise up the anger bar and speak out his heart , and that is why he just trains and fights , to keep his anger to the muscles rather than letting it reach his tongue " . Aeon looking quiet confused spoke, " I am just eight , I do not know things that the elders deal with but I want to know what you are trying to say " . "hmmm .. come on then , let's take a walk , and while we walk I will tell you what you need to know "Hakim told and they began walking .
"you know this kingdom , this majestic place called PROVENIR became so , not long ago . It was never a just a beautiful place locked up inside the wall , it wasn't always a place which had people hide their pain , anger , every damn feeling under a smile " Hakim spoke . confused Aeon just kept walkin and waited for Hakim to keep speaking , Hakim looked at the kids face which lit up with unexplainable doubts and hence he kept speaking , " remember kid , THERE WHERE LIES JUST THE GOOD THINGS IS A LIE, WHERE THERE IS TRUTH THERE IS SADNESS ,DEATH , PAIN , FIGHTS , LAUGHTER , there used to be a time when the gates were always open , there were people of all soughts , men who were nice and men who weren't as much . the kingdom was how any other kingdom was , filled with reality and now I see this place and all I see is just someone's dream forced to reality with no fun or fault " . " well ... what happened then, why did it change , why is this place so blunt ? " asked Aeon . Hakim sighed and bent down n held the shoulders of the kid n looked him in the eye bringing him closer ,startling the kid and told " you happened , you " .
"what do you mean ?" asked Aeon with guilt gathering up . Hakim continued " you father, Orion and your mother Serena wanted a child since a long time , but they were never lucky enough , their children were born dead , it happened thrice and the fourth time you were born , a prince , a gift , Orion then shut the gates with everything that wasn't good for you on the other side of the wall , and plans on treating you as a kid forever , I suppose " he laughed and continued " every boy born would be tested at some point , when a kid reached the age of ten , he would be sent to the forest beyond the gates filled with , the campers , the gypsies, the witches , the hunters , animals , and through this the kids had to live for six years and come home a warrior , and the ones who don't make it were considered as death of the unworthy . And , you will not be let outside, as you can see the gates are shut and rules have changed since your birth".
"does that mean I wont be a warrior , all I have to do is sit on a throne with people laughing at me for having not held a sword , ever ? . No ,I will get the gates open , and I will fight to live , i will know the pain and I will know the reality " told Aeon with frustration . Hakim spoke " be careful kid , the people out there hate you already ". Aeon replied " that would be a the next probelm , I will see you soon Hakim I need to go " and he left for the palace , Hakim stood there holding the stall with both his hands looking at the kid go while the sun sank behind the hill for yet another meaningless night .
Thatnight Aeon stayed awake on his bed looking at the ceiling and just thinking " two more years , I will have to convince father somehow to let me out and face the world , I will , I have to " .
"He's eight and he's smart unlike other kids , you can't keep him away from the world he deserves , he can't keep living in a cage u made for him " Serena excalimed to her husband Orion regarding their son . Serena was a remarkable woman with much more sense than Orion . It all seemed to make no sense to her , why was the fortress closed , why would Orion hide his own son from the world . She has so many unanswered questions in her head and Orion had promised that one day she would know , one day when the time hits the wall , she would know , and she kept waiting . Orion spoke out " there are real dangers out in the world , I can't risk my son's life , he'll be a king no matter what , and moreover people out there are ready to kill him if given a chance ". Serena with anger raised her voice and spoke " yes , I know and what is the reason for that , you , you are the one , you seperated husbands from their wives , you kept fathers away from children even for a robbery , just theives stealing for bread , everyone away from their family for 8 years beyond the wall , for what price ? " and stormed out their room . " I am sorry but you will know Serena , you will know " Orion told himself closing his eyes and clenching his fist .
