Chapter 11: GODS - THE CURSE
Loud thunder , howling wind and quite a lightning that lit up the rainy sky startled Helen , she woke up sweating and her heart racing like that of a horse . She looked around , stood up slowly as though her limbs had walked miles , she searched around for the old lady but she wasn't to be found anywhere . She searched the other room but no signs of her , she walks out the door in the rain , at some distance stood the oak lady .
Helen called for her , but the lady wouldn't turn , she started walking towards her , calling her even more so loudly , heavy rains drowned them but she walked to the lady and touched her shoulder and asked " what are you doing out here , it's raining and it's still dark , get inside " . Helen could feel her hand moving , soon she could feel the old lady sobbing . " what happened , what's wrong? " asked Helen as she turned the lady towards her . The lady turned slowly , weeping . The rain covered for the tears , but Helen could still tell by her eyes that she had tears . "I am sorry my child , the world is crueler than I could imagine , what all you are going through , I am sorry , I truly am " said the lady .
"What happened , you are scaring me , please tell what happened .. w..what are you trying to say " .
"Let's go , we need to get back here soon , and we need to find ways to make Venus speak so hurry" TARUS told his friends as they were about to leave REVINUS to seek information from Venus regarding the unknown , unfathomable and horrifying tale of blackmoon . They left the hall unnoticed, they crossed the streets and finally reached the gate , as they crossed the gate they stopped . They stopped on hearing the horn . The horn that was blown just once in the history of the hall , the sound that was never heard in recent life's , the alarm which meant the greatest disaster, the greatest threat to the REVINUS , that horn was blown . TARUS and all his comrades stood there in shock and fear , slowly turned back , but angry of their lost quest and more afraid for what was to come . The story could not be found , they knew , thus they walked back .
"Ahh...." a loud scream echoed through the walls of the hall , the maid scared to her death ran hither and thither weeping badly , the cries woke the hall , everyone rushed to her , she kept shouting with no words coming out . Everyone who saw her were shocked and stood still . On hearing her cries the lord opened his doors and shouted "quiet the young lady , anybody " , but the cries did not stop . Furious PRIMUS walked out his chambers and rushed to the direction of screams.
She kept screaming and screaming . PRIMUS rushes to her and shouted " what in the hell's name is wron..." he stopped , he stood there like a rock when she turned towards him .
There he saw in her hands , his baby girl , with no life , his blood born baby , with blood out of its mouth . " my lord " the maid wept as she handed him the baby . PRIMUS took the baby in the most loving way he ever did , sat down and screamed at the crowd " get the medicine , get the healers please , please , please , it's my baby , it's my girl , what is happening to us " he kept weeping . He held the baby close to his chest and cried and sang songs which he never sang when she was alive . He could not accept the death , so he sang to her and cried for hours , the crowd did not move a inch , tears rolled down everyone's cheek , TARUS was broken . PRIMUS shivering with pain and guilt would not let go of the baby , he whispered in the baby's ear "I am sorry , I am really sorry , you were my treasure, I disrespected you , I thought Ill of you , ohhh my baby , what happened to you , I love you soo much , please come back to your father , he has got none but you , please , will you , please " and wept , cried all his heart until he held her and passed out on the floor .
Whole crowd rushed and tried to pull the lords hands away from the dead child , he was too powerful even when unconscious, none could move his hands even by an inch . They lifted him to his cabin and waited for him to wake . After some time PRIMUS wakes up and opens his arms to see the baby . Now he knows it's time to let go . TARUS comes to him with tears and says " my lord , the princess must be given a god's funeral soon so that she lives on among the stars " . PRIMUS still did not exist in the present situation , but he realised it was time to let go . He stood up and went to TARUS and asked in his ears " where is Helen ?" . "RAYU told he delivered the leaf in the evening my lord " replied TARUS .
"Begin the procession " ordered PRIMUS as it would be too late , but he still was so lost in the death of his child that he didn't care to see below once , see his wife once and what was happening to her below .
"Your baby is no more , winds brought in the news , they told your daughter had blood out of her mouth , she's no more " told the old lady to Helen . Helen moved back n fell on her knees . She just sat there with no sense and still . Oak lady came near her , and held her shoulder . Helen started crying , the mother's pain , the mother's sorrow, no one could ever know the pain that a mother would . She cried for some time and wanted to see her child for the last time befor she was sent to stars . She rushed inside the hut and got the leaf . She held it tightly and ran towards water . She ran crying . She ran , but as soon as she reached the banks of river she stopped , she could not see any stairs . She walked in , her body sinking in water , she comes back to shore and runs again for the stairs but sinks again , runs , sinks , runs , sinks . Many times later , the oak lady stops her .
Helen is shocked , she cannot believe what is happening . She doesn't know what to do , she looks at sky and starts screaming "why are you doing this , what have I done to deserve this , please, I beg you , let me see my baby one last time , let me hold her , let me mourn for her , you have to let a mother mourn for her baby , look at me please , what monster made you so heartless , let me till the gates atleast , I promise I won't enter your hall , just give me my baby , just hand her over and I will never trouble you ever , please " Helen kept weeping .
The procession came to end , the thousands of Gods stood by the baby and chanted words , but PRIMUS did not , he did not exist , he was lost . In the end , all the gods picked up their bows and arrows and pointed to the sky and .... SHOT , every arrow had different colour , it seemed like a new world was forming , the colours beamed across sky , the world could see , Helen saw it too with blurred eyes , she saw . Soon the baby turns to sparkles and slowly floats through the sky and disappears amidst the colours . She sees it , she could see everything , Helen sees her hands and clenches fist in pain and anger . She lost her baby , but she could not see her even in her death .
Helen looks at the sky again and speaks " you people believe , just because you sit up there you are above all of us , you treat us like dirt , now I know what humanity is and what you gods are , the world is cruel because their beliefs are , and you are their belief , but beliefs are not supposed to be cruel . You took my girls life , you took the only thing that mattered the most to me , a mother's pain can never be understood , I could not see my baby as she flew across the sky , I couldn't touch her , couldn't hold her , couldn't sing to her or feed her or walk her first steps or hear her voice , you... you took that from me , you took it all frooommm meee .. " Helen screamed with tears and continued " I curse you , I curse the REVINUS , everyone in it , fate wasn't kind to me , nor will it be to you , here I give my life so that you may fall , I give up my soul so that you know may perish , and a mother's curse is the one which will sting forever , I bid goodbye to the world so that no one worships you anymore " ."nooo , what have you done child , why a life curse , whyyyy , " cried the lady looking at Helen . Helen smiles back and says her last words "NO ONE WILL BE GOD UNTIL THEY ARE HUMAN FIRST " and disappears into the sky as a fog does .
Air is still , water stops rushing through rocks , sky turns red , REVINUS which is already mourning begins to make sounds , the wind blows hardly , so hard , it's stroke brings down the pillars , the hall's ground shatters , the gods start falling down the sky , soon the REVINUS starts falling apart fiercely, every brick gets a count , all the gods fall apart , TARUS , RAYU and many more are gone , riza standing startled not sure what would happen next also goes . PRIMUS sat still on his throne which stood still until everythin around him fell apart . He sat there until none were left , every wall and pillar beside him fell , he closed his eyes and spoke to himself " here is the end to misery " and then the throne falls and so did he .
Nothing was left , just dust , waste and air .
