Chapter 27: Chapter 27: Recommended
The sparks of lightning died down in Yohan's palms. Despite losing he showed no anger or frustration, he was pretty much indifferent to the result. With only Yohan on the field, Klara and snow had won.
"We won!" Said Klara after she had recovered her footing and breath to hold hands and celebrate with Snow. She felt it was a hard fought match, making it all the more satisfying.
"Barely." Yohan quipped.
"A win is still a win!" Klara said. "I told you that you wouldn't win."
"I guess." Yohan shrugged. He didn't mind giving up the win, after all he got to test how far he can go and how he compared to others without using mana to enhance his combat abilities. He was genuinely satisfied with the results of his strength training.
Klara almost pulled her hair over his apathy. 'Where is the frustration in his expression?!' She really wanted to see Yohan showing at least a tinge of being butt hurt over his loss, but was sorely disappointed.
The matches continued, Henry and Yohan had won their final match while Klara and Snow had won all three of theirs.
"Good work everyone. You have all shown a satisfying level of performance. You may all be dismissed for lunch." The instructor sincerely said. They had a recess after the first round of matches and had started the second round of matches afterwards, which was just then.
"Yohan, Klara, Snow, could you three stay back for a few minutes?" The instructor asked while everyone went to the lockers to change. The three didn't mind and stayed back. "You three were exceptional today and despite this being the first lesson, I would like to recommend you three to represent the school. I would like to ask you three, would you be willing?"
(A/N: Mr. Evans = Combat instructor)
"Mr. Evans, sir, are you serious?." Klara said. "I would be happy to!"
"If Mr. Evans thinks I am capable, I'd be more than willing." Snow said in a very formal tone.
"If it means I get to fight strong opponents then sign me up!" Yohan said one could see a bit of fires in his eyes.
"Of course, you will be facing the best of the best of the other magic academies. In fact, I heard that this year in particular is one of the strongest on record since the past four decades at the very least."
"That's good, however, you might still need to compete with others from others in the other classes at a given date. This is just to ensure that those students we are sending are the strongest we can send." Mr. Evans, the combat instructor explained. The three nodded their heads in understanding.
"Your surname is Uchiha, is your sister Amber Uchiha in the 4th year?" Mr Evans asked.
"Yeah, I'm her younger brother." Yohan confirmed.
"No wonder." Mr Evans paused for a second. "sorry for being too curious Yohan but, your eye had a pattern when you were fighting these two, is that a mana mutation of yours?" Mr. Evans asked. The two girls had their ears perk up, they too had noticed the change in his eyes and were just as curious.
"Yep it is." Yohan answered while his eyes then became three tomoed as once before. "It improves my sight and thereby my reaction speed to a great degree." Yohan left out how he can essentially copy spells.
"That's a very useful ability" Mr. Evans assessed. 'With these two who could use all the elements to such a degree, with one of them wielding such a mana mutation and Snow having a secondary element, this year has a good chance at aiming to represent the Sprigg region in the World tournament.' He thought further. He asked the two girls a couple of things as well before letting them leave. "Alright, that is all, sorry I held you all back back."
"It was short so it was fine Mr. Evans." They each assured similar things and headed towards the locker rooms.
"Hey Yohan." Klara said.
"Hmm?"
"Do you practice martial arts?"
"No I don't."
"Oh, I see..." Klara took a pensive look. She still had doubts about her theory of Yohan knowing martial arts since the fight proved that his eyes were enough to counter any of her own martial arts.
"Your blows were really strong, it made the shaft of my scythe shake." Snow complimented.
"Thanks, Your scythe sweeps were ruthless, I thought my legs were going to be severed." Yohan returned. They exchanged a few more compliments before separating to different corridors to reach their respective locker rooms.
Klara nudged Snow after Yohan was far off. "Hey, hey."
"Hmm?"
"You like him don't you?"
"N-No"
"Hehehe, you're blushing, I thought it was suspicious how you were catching looks at him when he was fighting." Klara grinned ear to ear for acquiring blackmail material.
"You're mistaken" Snow denied with her still expressionless face blushing some more, her blank white ears were twitching nervously and her white as fresh snow tail wagging in a flustered manner left and right behind her around the level of her knees.
(A/N: If it's a bit difficult to picture, just think of Snow having a poker face the whole time, but her cheeks glowing pinkish.)
"Okay okay, hehehe." Klara was in a good mood from winning and being recommended as a rep. "Still, I'm disappointed in his reaction to losing, I wanted to see him more frustrated." Klara pouted with her hands behind her head in a relaxed manner.
Yohan ate lunch with his new friend Henry, Arwen, Ayne, Acia, Stella and some of his old classmates, the raccoon-kin boy Devin, the human boy Clyde, the bunny girl Bonny who came to Advent as well. Devin, Arwen and Acia who was in the other elite course stream also had combat class and apparently the combat instructor there saw potential in them and expressed his intentions to recommend them to participate in the same City tournament. He exited the cafeteria while chatting with his friends. He was walking backwards chatting before turning a sharp corner.
"Ahh.""Woaah." And crashed into someone. Yohan had fallen backwards and on to someone. He felt something soft pressed onto the back of his head. Yohan recovered his senses and stood back up to help the other person. He looked upon a girl, probably from the higher grades, with blond hair, emerald eyes, fair complexion who was a 'well endowed' individual, even for an adult, to say the least. Yohan realizing what he may have felt, became flushed and turned his head in shyness.
"Ashley are you okay?" "Are you hurt anywhere?" The girl's friends which accompanied her were asking her while helping her up.
"S-Sorry, I didn't see you there. I-If you need any help I will t-try to help you the best I can." Yohan stumbled through those words becoming more embarrassed with each word all the while bowing his head towards the girl. His friends stood back while holding their laughter.
"I see, it was an accident so I'll forgive you for this incident." Ashley softly said holding back a giggle. "How cute, acting so mature by taking responsibility for your actions with a favor." Yohan's neck shrunk back in shame at her words. Ashley walked by with her entourage and out of sight.
"Hahaha!" His friends couldn't hold themselves back and giggled.
"I will help you the best I can." Devin was mocking Yohan with an exaggeratedly just tone and stance. Clyde, Bonny, the triplets and his childhood friend laughed harder even Henry started to snicker.
"Oh, can it you guys." Yohan grumbled.
The day continued, Yohan attended his classes and he was lectured after school for his misconduct, he was tasked to look through the codes of conduct and burn it into memory.
He was walking back towards the boys dormitory when he saw a familiar person walking along somebody in the distance, as he approached he saw it was his sister Amber and to his surprise...
'Cain?!' Yohan watched them stroll towards the boys dorms. Yohan stalked behind some trees and hedges. He saw them talking a few more minutes before an unthinkable thing happened.
Amber leaned in and kissed Cain before running off with her face in her hands.
