=Advent's Campus=
The academy was near the outskirts of the city, but there were still quite a few buildings and skyscrapers around.
The campus had a very large steel barred gates with a large footpath leading to a round-a-bout at the center of which towered a large monument of a Wizard and ahead stood a chateau which acted as a reception. The whole campus was flat and spacious, it had a sports field, gymnasium, courts, running tracks, since it was like any other high school which provided recreational activities. The dorms were on opposite sides of the campuses with all the different class buildings, which looked a little more modern and the newly renovated combat center which had been installed with the Combat Simulator between the dorms. Almost everyone had settled in the dorms and were preparing for their first day
Yohan met up with some schoolmates, they caught up with each other while they walked to the entrance ceremony venue. It was a custom in the major academy to have a entrance ceremony as a way to formally welcome aspiring mages on their career path as combat mages. Yohan saw some seniors walking about as well, some were flirting and showing a bit of affection publicly so early in the morning, to which he inwardly puked.
He ignored them and met with other first years in a small auditorium. Stella who was with him went about and started mingling those who came earlier. Yohan went to the backstage to prepare himself mentally. While he was used to being watched, it was only when he was distracted with a fight and not directing and amusing the attention of a whole crowd consciously, thus he was a bit anxious.
"Attention everyone, please be seated, the welcoming ceremony will begin shortly." A supervising teacher instructed. Everyone hurriedly sat, awaiting for the ceremony to start. A slightly stocky old man strolled to the podium. He faced the sitting body of students comprised of slightly over a hundred students.
"Welcome 1st years, to Advent magic academy. I am the principal, you may call me Mr. Warblemore of this prestigious learning institute. I have great expectations in all of you...." The old man gave a long speech before finally passing it off to Yohan. "As custom we give the final minutes of this welcoming ceremony to the most exceptional applicant to say a few words for all of us."
"Ahem..... Principal, members of staff, fellow classmates, I would first like to express my deepest honor for having this privilege to talk in front of you all today. Today is a special day, for it is the day in which each of us officially embark on our journey to become respected mages and the first step will be taken today. Therefore, let's all hold our heads high and strive for excellence. Let us show that Advent magic academy is the best academy present in Hakono!...." Yohan continued for a couple more minutes before ending. His parents helped him a little with his speech and it came out quite nice. Everyone stood clapping before being dismissed to then officially receive their schedules.
"Yohan can I see your classes?" Stella asked as she just peered over Yohan's shoulder. Yohan just kept reading. He took a Wizardry class which was aimed for those who wished to try their hand at mastering the 5 basic elements, it was the most demanding class on campus. Arwen had the wind magic course, Ayne had the earth magic course and Acia had water magic course. There was the mandatory magic theory class, mathematics and language class. Mathematics is considered a must have in every modern society and though you can choose another language such as elvish or dwarven, almost everyone chooses the 'common language' since it was the easiest and it used everywhere.
"Oh looks like we got the same language class!" Stella said as she compared the room numbers, teachers and periods.
"Well, my first class should be Wizardry with..... Mr. Crawford, sounds familiar." Yohan didn't delay and went to the classroom. The desks were rows of long tables and a bench that melded with the table behind it. He was the early bird and got to sit near the window at the front. A couple of minutes and only one other student came, that being Klara Price.
"What are you doing here?!" Klara said with a slightly aggressive tone.
"I'm taking Wizardry class. What about you?" Yohan replied.
"I'm taking Wizadry too, why is this class so empty?" Klara asked
"Wizardry is the most difficult subject available so almost no one chooses it." A deep voice came from the doorway. It was a middle aged man who resembled an Englishman, wearing a shirt, long pants, a short cloak and a wizard hat. Klara immediately got seated at the front, middle row. "Mr. Uchiha, don't sit there, since there's only two of you, sit next to Ms. Price."
"But teache-" Klara wanted to protest.
"Ms. Price, I know you may have reservations for this but, I hope you don't treat your only classmate as an outcast and likewise you as well Mr. Uchiha." The wizard calmed them. "Without further ado, good morning class. I am Mr. William Crawford and I am a wizard, you may call me Mr. Crawford, this will actually be my second year teaching. I will be teaching you throughout your whole academic stay at this academy. Any questions?"
The wizard had been teaching the year Yohan had taken the entrance exam and the school had him attend the combat exam as a way to formally welcome him as school staff, sort of like showing off for having such a great personage.
""No"" The two students replied. 'So he was the wizard at the combat exam?'.
"I've already taken note of you since both of you have displayed exceptional combat competence for your age. May I ask that you each introduce yourselves, despite it being a small class, just a couple of sentences, maybe a hobby or long term goal?" Mr. Crawford had taken registry and was waiting to hear their pieces.
"Hello, I am Klara Price, my hobby is reading books on magic and my long term goal is to become an Arch-wizard." Klara stated.
"My my, what lofty goals indeed. Your surname is 'Price' are you perhaps related to the guild master for Light bringer?" Mr. Crawford asked.
"Yes, he is my grandfather." Klara answered.
"Ah, I see. You're quite the character, yet you're quite humble." Mr. Crawford said. He gestured to Yohan for his turn.
"Hello, my name is Yohan Uchiha, my hobby is sparring and my long term goal... for now I guess it's being the most powerful wizard there is." Yohan said.
"An even loftier goal! Are you perhaps Amber's little brother?"
"Yes!"
"Ah that girl is very studious. I expect great things from the both of you." Mr. Crawford said. "Right, I almost forgot, follow me the both of you. I will be taking you to the Element indicators."
"But sir, we've already checked our elements" Yohan said.
"We're using the specific elemental indicator, or SEI for short, it measures your affinity to one specific element. I'm guessing the indicators you used were the general indicator for the 5 elements." Mr. Crawford said. "Though I am curious, Ms. Price why had your grandfather not saved all the trouble in getting a reading on the extent of your affinity to the elements with the SEI."
"I'm not sure on the reason either but, he said that I shouldn't worry about my affinity and that if I dream of becoming a respected mage, I should strive no matter what." Klara said. Klara's grandfather wanted to dissuade her after the reading, believing it to be true, but her earnest efforts made him support her instead. As she showed rapid progress and great competency in magic, to the point he had even doubted the indicator, he started supporting her wholeheartedly crediting her progress to her genius and perseverance despite her 'lack of talents'.
They arrived at a room with 7 pedestals which had crystal hemispheres atop them, 5 were the basic elements and the other two were light and dark. The 5 basic elements were at the 5 points of a pentagram, like a magic circle which was about 10 meters in diameter, while the remaining two were at the center of the formation. This was a more traditional SEI, which relies only the brightness in the crystals to measure the affinity. The more modern ones are able to 'quantify' it, but they would need to use very costly machines. Some supervising teachers were on standby.
"Ms. Price, go towards each pedestal and inject your mana into each crystals." The Wizard instructed. She did as such and each crystal shone brightly of their respective colors, red, blue, yellow and purple. The Wizard watched, becoming dumbfounded by the second. "E-excellent Affinities to all 5 basic elements!" She finally went to the center of the formation and injected her mana there. "Moderate affinities to both Light and Dark?!"
The affinities scale as such (If quantified with modern SEI):
_________________________________________________________________
No affinity - 0-4
Low affinity - 5-34
Moderate affinity - 35-54
High affinity - 55-79
Excellent affinity - 80-99
Perfect/Embodiment affinity - 100

This was quite different to the Shinobi world. The two world's systems did have some similarities, such as the principles of jutsus and spells but it differed in that people in Orbis can conjure elements without the need for chants or hand seals.
The wizard recovered and called back Klara. "Mr. Uchiha, it is your turn." He gestured towards the pedestals. Yohan went up towards the lightning crystal and started to inject some mana into it. The spectators were immediately blinded as purple lights flooded the room.
"What?!" Everybody was immediately stunned.
"Perfect affinity?!"
Welp, I am sorry for this, but, I don't really have free time to write this novel since school has started again. So I am sorry for the future infrequent chapter updates.
