Chapter 1: Palo Alto,CA
As the alarm sounded 5 in the morning, I came to my senses and remembered about the meeting today at 10:00 am. Then a hand pulled me as I am trying to climb out of my bed.
"Mark, come on sleep. Why are you even awake in this time of morning" said Jenny as she trying to sit up and covering her naked body with the sheets.
"I have a meeting today at 10'o clock. I should take a shower and get going" I replied trying not to
look at her undraped body.
My groin sweated as I try to remember the night we spent together. Then my head ached to indicate the last night's hangover.
While Jenny got out of the bed and started dressing she asked "I wanted to talk to you about something and it's urgent"
"Not today I have a mandatory meeting which I should attend to" I said as questions wandered free in my mind about what this meeting might be about.
"You keep on ignoring me and always dump me for work. Do you even love me?" asked Jenny with concern in her eyes and started to leave.
I started walking towards the bathroom turning a deaf ear towards her questions because I don't know what this conversation might lead to and my only priority now is the meeting. After a refreshing shower, I walked towards my dressing cabinet and started searching for the felicitous dress for this meeting. I finally choose a white shirt and blue jeans and covered it with a black blazer and selected a Calvin Klien watch from the drawer below. As I started to get out of the flat I noticed the note Jenny left for me.
Mark,
Please meet me at Cristy's Coffee shop tomorrow at 5 pm.
Don't dump me this time. I love you.

The last word sent chills through my body. She misunderstood my intentions for love. Without overthinking it. I took a lift to my basement and climbed the Audi waiting for me.
"Take me to the meeting" I ordered with a firm voice.
"Yes, Sir" came the reply as he ignited the car and started driving towards our destination.
