Chapter 57: Fresh Start or Not

Dominic arrived along with the things Angela had requested. Angela was delighted to finally change into something much more comfortable. She hugged her cousin telling him how much she missed him.

"Am I missing something here?" Dominic whispered.

"You missed nothing. It's just me and Edward working out our differences." Angela smiled as she led him to the sunny room.

"Whose house is this?" Dominic asked mystified by the beauty around him

"Helen's. Edward's grandma."

"This is a lot of money!" He exclaimed taking in all the beautiful decorations.

"Yep. This is a lot. But this house did not just happen overnight. This is a product of years of hard work and dedication." Angela stated proudly like she owned the house herself.

"So when are you are going home?"

"I'm not sure yet." Angela was feeling undecided.

"So things are really turning out better for you."

Angela was feeling hopeful. "I hope so. And I hope I did not make the worst mistake."

"So there's the baby."

"Yes there's a baby."

"And you don't know that you were having a child?"

Angela cringed shamefully. "I think I had the hunch that I was with child but I tried not to think about it. With the resort coming into place, I have no time to think of the few weird changes my body was telling me."

"Why hadn't you told me so I could have taken the resort renovation out of your hand?"

"Because I wasn't sure yet. I didn't have the courage to take the test. I was afraid I might disappoint myself and you."

"Oh Angie, you could never disappoint me, not now, not ever." Dominic hugged Angela.

Angela felt all her fears ebbing away. The warmth of Dom's support seeping through their embraced bringing tears into her eyes.

"I wish I had you back home." Angela suddenly felt how lonely it was to stay at the apartment alone, without Dominic to help her sort things out and without Edward.

"Angie, I was always home, it's you who preferred to stay away."

Angela realised she had so many things left unsorted. There are so many things in her life that she needed to put into perspective. Now with Dom and Edward back in her life, she could find ways to search herself and find who she really was and what she really wanted.

All this time, she had put her life on hold for her mother's sickness. Then she put her plans of going back to college aside so she could pay off her debt. Now that she had paid her debt, she put her life still on hold, to give way to her dreams of owning a business, of expanding her horizon. She had forgotten to live. She dived into the industry of which she had no idea if she could take on the heat.

Her decisions in the past were all made on impulse. No long term plans and no long term commitment. Now, she wanted to redo her life. She might not be able to restart it, but she could always make a fresh start.

Sighing, Angela looked wistful. "I guess I needed to make a fresh start with everything, sort things out and plan each commitment I am going to be in. I'm missing so much in my life."

"Glad you realized you needed to sort your options" Dom smiled at her.

"Me too. I guess it's about time that I do." Angela agreed more fervently this time.

Angela and Dominic was deep in their conversation on just about anything that they lost tract of time. It was mid-afternoon when Edward joined the cousins. It wasn't long before they were laughing whole heartedly like there was no grudge between them in the past. Tea was served along with the finest biscuits and pastries the cook could bake at the moment and Angela gladly enjoyed each delectable bite savouring the sweetness of the biscuit and the crunchy curst that melts in her mouth with every bite.

"This biscuit is delicious." She finally commented after the last one was gone.

"Grandma had the best biscuit recipe in the entire universe." Edward felt pride with Angela's compliment.

"She baked all these now?" Angela was surprised that the old lady still baked.

"No of course, there's no way she could bake at her age. The cook of course baked it."

"Oh…okay…it doesn't change the fact though that the biscuits were very delicious up to the last bite."

As they agreed on the biscuit, Edward puffed his chest with pride. The afternoon was spent with a tour around the garden.

"When are we leaving?"

"We will be leaving now. I will drive you home of course."

"I was planning on riding with Dominic. I want to stay at my place for a while, take a break from everything."

"Then I'll take you there. We will just drop by the cottage on our way. I need to pick up some things."

"I will be putting Dominic in charge of the resort renovation until I am ready to handle it."

"Is he up to it?"

"Of course. We already discussed about it."

"I was thinking about handling the renovation so Dominic could take care of you while you are resting. I will also have David review some of the designs, there were designs that did not pass the standards and he was willing to redo it."

"Would it affect the total cost of the project?"

"Yes, but it will add goodwill to the resort"

Angela knew Edward was right. He hired the best men and David must have noticed the flaw.

The trio was on the road not long after. Angela was delighted to have been allowed to bring some of the most delectable biscuit she had ever tasted. She was even promised to have an endless supply of the delicacy as long as she wished it. Angela felt ecstatic at the idea. Her heart was light when they reach the cottage.

Dom continued with his trip home while they made a quick stop at the cottage. Dom went out of the car and instructed Angela to just wait him for he won't be long. Angela did not get off the car as she was feeling tired already despite her happy heart.

Just as Edward was about to get back, Angela noticed something odd about Edward's behaviour when he came out. Angela wanted to investigate his sudden agitation. So unlocked the door to see what was bothering Edward. She went directly inside and as she went in, she saw Erin.
