The Solution

Angela was surprised that the old woman knew her. Her surprise was evident earning a warmer smile from the old woman.

"Edward never kept secrets from me dear. Don't look too surprise." The old woman smiled warmly.

Her words cut through Angela. How much honest information did Edward told her? Did he also told her that they are already divorced?

"That's flattering!" Angela replied returning the smile.

"Come here dear. The sun is against my eyes and I hate squinting. There's a better room to stay at this time of day."

Edward helped her towards the sunny room where the sun was slightly obscured from their view as the trees shielded the direct ray of the sun. It felt warm as natural light filtered through the room.

She found a good spot on the sofa and seated gently as her legs wobbled again. Edward helped her settle more comfortably. This side of Edward is what made her loved him but his other side is what pushed her to the edge. He pampered her like he loved her. No woman with a sound mind would reject such dedication.

"What brings you here Eddie."

He sat beside her rubbing her arms supportively. "We came here to visit Grandma." Edward smiled.

"So nice of you to bring her along."

"I promised, did I?"

Angela looked at Edward feeling puzzled. Why would he promise his grandma when he knew they were divorced? Edward avoided her gaze.

"Have you had your sweets? A tea maybe or coffee." His grandma offered.

"Something hot for her stomach might be wonderful. But I don't think it's good for her." Edward declined nicely.

"Manny, please bring us some biscuits and hot drinks. Angela needs something for her stomach." The man called Manny nodded and left. Later he reappeared with a tray filled with various biscuits, tea cups and a tea pot. A young woman followed him with her tray of coffee powder, milk powder, sugar, tea bags and all manners of powder for hot beverage.

Edward immediately stood and took a tea cup filling it with hot water. He scooped spoonful of milk adding sugar to it stirring it vigorously then handed it to her.

"Drink. This will help settle your stomach."

She took the tea cup but the smell of milk made her a little queasy. She put the cup on the table wrinkling her nose. "I don't like the smell." She whispered trying to make him understand why she refused his cup of milk.

"Oh, sorry." He took another tea cup and add some hot water and handed it to her. "Drink before it gets cold."

The old woman in front of them was observing the whole scene and finally deduced what was very obvious. "Oh I am so happy for the baby." She smiled happily clapping her hand.

Angela blushed. Was she that obvious? She smiled awkwardly feeling ashamed.

"You look pale my dear. I know you're dying to know me better but I guess you should need to lie down for a while until the queasy feeling settles." She clapped her hand again and a parade of servants appeared to assist her waiting for instructions.

"I do love the rest you offered but I haven't known your name." Angela interrupted. As much as she wanted to rest, she was also dying to know Edward's grandmother.

Embarrassed, Edward introduced his grandma. "I am sorry. I was so occupied about your welfare that I forgot to introduced grandma. You already met my grandma Helen Mc Claire. My wife, Angela Mc Claire."

Angela blushed at the introduction. He called her his wife when they were already divorced. But Angela offered a smile to the old lady. She stood to give the woman a kiss on the cheek.

"It is such a pleasure to finally meet you." Angela murmured.

"As it is my pleasure dear. You have no idea how many times I beg this brute grandson of mine to bring you here. He always gives excuses."

"Had I known you wanted to meet me, I would have come here on my own." Angela replied honestly.

The old lady gave a look of hurt to Edward. "You should have brought her here sooner." She exclaimed sounding hurt.

Edward scratched his head boyishly. "Before things will get out of hand, I think I need to escort my wife to her room so she can rest."

"Manny, show them to the room near the library. I don't want Angela falling on the stairs."

Angela smiled at the old woman at her concern on her welfare. She thought of the stairs she had at her apartment. Would she still use her room or would she choose the other guest room next to her office? She tried to think but then her mind was interrupted when she was ushered into a room so big she could barely contain her gasped of amazement.

"This room is so huge!" She exclaimed in amazement.

"This is the smallest room in this floor. The other rooms upstairs are larger than this. Even the rooms of the maids are bigger than this." Edward replied proudly.

"Wow. I thought you are the one who bring the company to where it is right now, but how could your grandma have a house like this if she was having a hard life?" Angela asked still shocked at the display of wealth in the house.

"It's a long story. But all I can say is that my grandma had always been wealthy. She came from a line of wealthy families on her father's side." Edward was kind enough to supply her a little information.

Angela looked around and saw the tapestries that were lined on the wall and the huge window that occupy almost the entire wall. She went to the window as it opened to a huge balcony overlooking the beautifully manicured garden below her.

"Look at that view!"

"Amazing isn't it. I know you would love it here. The view is better upstairs but since grandma doesn't feel like having you use the stairs this will suffice for now." Edward added sounding apologetic that Angela could not see a better view because of her condition.

"When I am better, I would love to see the garden from upstairs." She exclaimed excitedly until she realized the meaning of her words. Was she telling him she wanted to stay here for a while? That would further complicate things as it is.

Edward had probably sensed her trepidation because he made her turn to look at him.

"Look at me Angela, as far as I know, you are my wife. You can stay here as my wife as long as you like. Grandma is your only parental authority when it comes to being pregnant and all. You cannot go to Dom and ask him for the basics. Linda is out of question as she is also single as she is." Edward informed her blatantly.

Angela looked away. They were divorced. That's all what matters to her. But why does she felt so comfortable at this arrangement? Could she open up her heart again then fell so hard again?

"I wanted to rest." Angela finally found an excuse and went inside to seek the comfort of the bed.

"We will talk about us once you have rested." Edward was trying to make a fight of his claim.

Angela feared what he could do to her emotionally. She can't hope and be disappointed again. It would be too much for her to hope for something so impossible for her to accomplish. But if he will tell her he loved her, maybe. Just maybe.

"Please leave me." She begged.

Edward helped her get comfortable then pulled the bed covers over before shutting the door behind him. He did not say anything to her. Maybe he needed to sort his own feelings like what she was doing right now.

Tired and still weak, Angela slept on the softest bed she had ever laid on.

The room was dark when she finally woke up. It seemed quiet and peaceful except for the occasional hooting of a distant bird. The curtains fluttered from the open window. Angela stayed on the bed for some time pondering on her options.

Her condition was something she did not hope for. Not that she hated babies but it seemed like the baby was not planned. She wasn't prepared to bring a baby into her own chaotic world. She had to go back to college and this pregnancy would certainly get in the way. Her resort is under renovation with a huge setback on the pool.

The baby will be born out of wedlock as her marriage had been ended long before she had considered that one day she might turn pregnant with his child. The baby complicates her already complicated life.

Angela thought of an abortion. It was her only option.
