Chapter 10: The Trial and The Verdict

Inside the Student Offense Department's Student Trial Court, Nelson looked around the large hall. A stern old man stood by the hallway as if he's waiting for him.

The old man stared at Nelson for a few seconds before turning around and leading the way. The old man then spoke to Nelson in a deep tone.

"Aren't you guilty?"

Nelson stopped and so did the old man. Nelson stared at the old man's back before finally speaking.

"I didn't do it. The Dorm Master... I, I just pushed him a little"

The old man looked behind at Nelson before looking him up and down. The old man's hair is dyed gray by the long time he has been alive. His stern expression loosened a little after making sure that Nelson is not lying.

The old man led the way again.

"Follow me"

Nelson followed the old man making sure to stay 5 feet away from the man. Nelson didn't know the old man after all.

The old man stopped before tapping at the wall on the side, more specifically, at the touch screen. The two black glass doors split outwards before finally revealing the scene inside.

Gregory Forle the Dorm Master stood behind the Plaintiff's Table. The room was actually quite small. There was no one inside other than Gregory Forle and the judge sitting there with an imposing aura as if he's the most impartial person in the world.

The old man entered inside the courtroom. Nelson then followed behind him.

The judge who has been releasing his imposing aura looked on at the old man in shock. Gregory Forle also looked stunned as he stared at the old man with wide eyes.

The old man then raised his hand as if to stop them from speaking. He then walked behind the judge before staying in place. The judge then pretended as if nothing happened before looking back at Nelson with surprise in his eyes. Gregory Forle also looked at Nelson with eyes full of doubts.

Nelson was now standing behind the Defendant's Table, his mind focused on his memories inside the academy. He didn't seem to realize the gazes on him.

...

The crowd outside has grown quite big as Students from different departments watched the Entrance of the Student Trial Court. They are waiting for the verdict towards Nelson Hansen.

Today was the first day that a student will be expelled because of hooking up with a girl inside the Male's Dorm. After all, Sanjek Daren was never expelled for all of the mess he's been causing.

Yorl Light, Jorin Maik, and Veen Night stared at the Entrance with serious expressions. They didn't seem to realize the person behind them calling for them.

"Hey, Hey, HEEYYY!"

The trio finally snapped out of their reverie after being shouted in their ears. They looked behind at almost the same time.

"EEK!" x3

Before they could even fully tilt their heads they jumped back in fright. That's because the person in question is a terrifying individual that even the word terrifying seems to be an understatement.

"Ms. Theresa what a coincidence! Hahaha..."

Yorl Light spoke with a forced smile plastered on his face. The two nodded their heads quickly.

"What do you mean a coincidence? My brother is about to be expelled you know!"

Theresa kicked Yorl at his shins for every word she spoke causing Yorl's face to contort in pain. Theresa looked at the trio with sharp glares before grabbing the hand of the person behind her and pulling her away from the trio. She didn't want the trio to taint this flower after all.

Elysse didn't notice the commotion caused by Theresa as she intently stared at the sky above the Student Trial Court. Later the verdict will be announced using a hologram at the sky above. Her eyes so focused it almost seem as if her eyes is a laser.

The trio noticed Elysse as she passed by them and saw her unfamiliar face. The trio looked twice before staring back at the sky. She should be Ms. Theresa's friend, they thought.

...

Nelson stared at the judge with a gaze as if he's ready to accept his fate. His eyes as calm as a morning lake.

The judge looked at Nelson before finally looking at Gregory Forle.

"You may proceed.", the judge spoke with his serious voice.

Gregory Forle spoke about how he found Nelson about to leave the male's dorm with a girl in tow. He didn't fail to mention how Nelson pushed him. He explained in detail how disrespectful that was together with his offense of bringing a female inside the male's dorm without permission.

"I see...", the judge took in Gregory's words before sneaking a peak at Nelson.

Nelson sat there as if he's not the person that was being trialled. His gaze still looking straight in front.

"You may be seated."

The judge motioned for Gregory to sit before asking Nelson for his defense.

"Will the defendant please rise"

Nelson stood up and stared at the judge with a determined gaze.

"I did exactly as he said, your honor."

Nelson knew that lying is useless in front of the academy. He knew that lying will only make things worse. That is why, no matter what happens, he'll proceed with dignity and honesty. This is the least he can do in respect for the academy that taught him up to this point.

The judge looked at the old man behind him. The old man nodded slightly.

The judge looked at Nelson for a long while before shifting it to Gregory.

Nelson could feel his heart calmer than ever. He knew that regret was useless here. Nelson waited for a long while. His heart finally started to feel anxious.

He remembered Elysse, whom is the reason for all of this. His father always mentioned to him that goodness starts with treating your servants with love and warmth. He finally realized that he's no different from his M of a father.

Not that way, but in the way that he perceives those around him.

The judge finally spoke after it felt like an eternity to Nelson.

"The defendant is found not guilty. The defendant shall be sentenced to intense monitoring by the academy. His violations has been done with the academy's honor in mind."

Gregory Forle looked at the judge in shock. He didn't expect things to turn this way. He did not know why the academy was willing to accede to his demands but it seems that there seems to be more to it.

Gregory looked at the old man standing at the side behind the judge before finally coming to an understanding. Though, he is still confused about the whole situation. He didn't know what would warrant the old man to go so far.

The judge left the room after announcing his verdict. He spared another glance at Nelson on his way out.

Gregory followed the judge out of the room.

Only Nelson and the old man remained inside the courtroom.

"I didn't know how you did it but... The academy is thankful for your recommendation for the prodigy."

Nelson finally realized what was happening. He stared at the old man in confusion. He didn't really know who was this old man.

"I forgot to introduce myself, I'm the Vice Principal of Berdan Academy, Justin Brook", the old man explained unhurriedly.

Nelson was shocked out of his wits. He stood there staring at the old man in doubt and confusion.

'What does he mean by introducing a prodigy to the academy? Is it about Elysse?', Nelson thought in his head.

The old man smiled amiably before continuing.

"First you were reported for bringing a girl inside the Male's Dorm, then a report about you taking advantage of a prodigy, insulting a prodigy, threatening a prodigy, and extorting a prodigy. All I can say is that you have done many things that can warrant you and your descendants denied entry to the academy."

The old man's words confused Nelson. He knew he brought a girl into the male's dorm but when did he take advantage, insult, threaten, and extorted a prodigy? If they're talking about Elysse, he can't really remember when did he mistreat Elysse.

'Do I look that suspicious?', Nelson smiled bitterly upon the realization.

"Sir, I can admit to the first one but I don't really know about the other ones. I have never done such things.", Nelson spoke with a solemn tone.

The Vice Principals' smile widened after he heard that.

"Of course, we did an investigation. We don't know how you did it, but the Prodigy seems to respect you very much. I will warn you though, you shouldn't bite more than you can chew."

The Vice Principals' voice deepened at the last part of his speech. His voice carried with it a solemn threat.

Nelson gulped hearing the threat behind the Vice Principals' words.

"I will not let you down, sir"

Nelson spoke with a determined voice.

"Good."

The Vice Principal then left after hearing his answer.

The sky outside the Student Trial Court changed as 7 large words appeared. The change jolted the crowd waiting outside.

NELSON HANSEN IS SENTENCED INTO INTENSE MONITORING.

It has been a while. It was hard to jumble writing with my studies. I tried very hard but it was just too taxing for my mental capacity to jumble the two. I hope you can understand. Please add the book to your collection as that is a good way to motivate me.
