Chapter 6: Shedding

The issue of having multiple anime series fused together is that even the rotten apples would be included. Not to mention, it wasn't just 'anime' that have been merged, as 'anime' is short for animation. As long as it's animation made in Japan, it'll be integrated into the world...

Lin Wu wiped off the cold sweat forming on his forehead as his eyes locked onto the screen.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The sixteen feet tall women watched, her long white dress drenched in the rain.

She watched.

And watched.

And watched.

And watched.

And watched.

And watched.

"Po... Po... Po... Po..."

The voice was deep and masculine, unlike the feminine and elegant appearance of the women.

Her raven black hair covered her two eyes as she peered into the room where the boy was.

The women's pale fingers reached past the vertical balcony, tapping on his balcony glass door.

Tap.

Tap.

Tap.

Why wouldn't he open the door?

Why?

Why?

"Lin Wu... It's me, your mother... Have you forgotten how your mother sounds like? Open the door, honey..."

Her hands couldn't reach the boy she had liked so much...

She could remember their first meeting...

His eyes full of despair...

She wanted to touch his supple and tender cheeks...

She wanted to rip them off...

"Po... Po... Po... Po..."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"The thunderstorm is retreating! What a miracle!" The newscaster smiled as he spoke into the camera.

Lin Wu took out his phone; he had missed at least 30 calls within an hour.

All of them from his dead mother, who he barely remembers.

He had blocked the number a week ago.

Hachisakusama.

The 'Eight Feet Tall.'

If only she were just 'Eight Feet Tall'... Anyone can become a monster in this world as long as their negative emotions grow ever so stronger, so too could they get stronger through the same method.

Back in his world, he chanced upon a doujin drawn by an illustrator by the handle 'Jyoka'.

He thought he had suppressed the memory back then.

When he flipped the page, there she was, Hachisakusama's actual appearance plastered all over the page staring deep into his eyes, it had scarred him mentally.

The absolute creepy-ness of her true appearance imprinted into his mind permanently.

When Lin Wu was first exploring the new world, he chanced upon the urban legend.

Staring at him over his brick wall.

Sucking in his appearance, as her creepy large eyes enlarged.

The sound of his stomach grumbling brought him back to reality. He went to the balcony to see that the rain had stopped, but the overcast was still here.

"It's going to have to be repaired..." He looked at the broken glass door.

Lin Wu went back downstairs and grabbed his wallet. Since the sun wasn't out, he didn't have to bring his umbrella.

He started walking to the closeby Lawson, a famous convenience store brand that was about eight minutes away.

Halfway to Lawsons, Lin Wu stood by the road next to a pole.

Through his senses, the women had disappeared west, probably heading towards Kyoto for her next victim.

He clenched his hand into a fist as a torrent of emotion washed down on him.

Fear.

Frustration.

Anger.

And above all else, shame.

"It's the second time."

He subconsciously started biting his lips.

"Will I be scared forever? I've gained a new power, I've gotten stronger! And yet... and yet--"

His nails dug into his palms.

"I'm still the same!"

The disgrace of having supernatural powers but still being held by his subconscious wall of 'normality' that had formed from both his previous life and his current one!

This was the one thing that he had trouble with ever since he transmigrated over!

'How come those transmigraters in other works can so easily change their mindset? Easily adapting to their powers and throwing out the moral ethics that had essentially become an ideology, a law that goes unquestioned?'

If he had 'adapted' quicker, he might've acted like one of those brazen protagonists where they killed everything and everyone who blocked his path without hesitation!

He still had these subconscious 'limitations' inhibiting his actions, preventing him from going 'loose!'

It was like seeing the way out of a tunnel, but there was an invisible wall blocking him!

"Damn it!"

He swung his right arm straight into the steel pole out of utter frustration!

BANG!

His fist pulverised the steel pole! Smashing it into bits!

He stomped the ground in frustration!

BOOM!

His foot went straight into the ground, a spiderweb-like crack formed throughout pavement!

Electricity surged through his body as they exploded outwards!

The 'whips' of electricity 'splattered' onto the nearby walls, turning the concrete bright-red before it started to melt and crumble!

His bloodshot eyes turned west!

"I'll kill you when we meet again!"

He wasn't going to be a pushover god damn it!

Lin Wu looked at his palms, expecting to grimace at the probably bruised hand that had pummeled the wall.

But there was nothing!

The wound had already healed— or maybe he wasn't even wounded at all from exerting a fraction of his real strength!

He took a deep breath in and slowly exhaled, and for some reason, he felt as if the sinking feeling in his chest felt lighter!

It was like he had started 'shedding' something!

He looked at the destruction he had caused, realizing what he had done and started running away!

----------------------------------------------------------

"That'll be 800 yen." The cashier smiled as she accepted the yen.

"Your change will be 50 yen." She smiled as she handed Lin Wu the change.

Out walked Lin Wu, holding a bag with two meat buns, some snacks, and two Pocari Sweat.

The rays of light started to pierce through the dark clouds.

Lin Wu turned to a figure sitting on the ground, her beautiful silver hair and blue eyes dazed him for a second. Perhaps the medieval armour had contributed to that.

"Here," Lin Wu smiled as he handed her a meat bun and a Pocari Sweat.

As soon as the girl received it, he immediately started running home.

The girl watched as he disappeared into the distance.

"He's..." She bit into the meat bun, looking at the direction where he had a ran off to, "starting to... become less human..."

CREATORS' THOUGHTS
Robot9001 Robot9001

I find it weird that stories where the main character receives strong powers, they change as if they were never once a regular 'human' before!

It's as if they were never bounded by the mentality of a 'normal' human and suddenly go about making decisions they would've never otherwise done just a second later!

The MC still treats life as if he was still a 'normal human' with just some cool abilities, which will slowly change in the upcoming chapters.

Sorry if it sounds confusing!
