Here I stand on the shores of Isenstar, with the city of Gil'ead glimmering in the distance, as thoughts whirl around in my mind. Brom and Eragon are en route, and the ambush site is ready and waiting. A surge of nervousness engulfs me. Sure, I might be deemed a cold, heartless jerk, but I've never killed anyone before. I've gotten into fights, even fractured a couple of jaws back in high school, but the lurking darkness that dwells just beneath the surface always terrified me. It's like peering into a black hole, knowing a monstrous beast resides within, ready to devour all in its path. In my previous life, I managed to keep it chained, but the more power I acquire, the stronger it becomes. I wait, fearing the moment it emerges to wreak havoc.
Suddenly, I sense Eragon triggering my spell. "Well, let's hope I can keep this beast in check. If not, I'm bound to fail this quest and have to fight the gods of this world to escape," I mutter to myself.
The robotic voice echoes in my ear. "Beep... Host is correct. You may suffer a penalty and potentially lose one or all of your abilities."
"Great. SIGH."
Turning to my dragon, Sky, I ask, "Is everything prepared on your end? We need to act swiftly, kill their mounts, then fly back to get Arya. I will inform Brom about the traitors in the Varden and tell him we will rendezvous with him and Eragon in Du Weldenvarden."
"Of course, nest mate. Be safe and do not fret about the monster. After all, he is a part of you."
The profound wisdom of a dragon, everyone. Quite a sight to behold.
As I approach the camp, I arrive just in time to intercept an arrow meant for Brom. In one fluid motion, I decapitate the Ra'zac. As Eragon and Brom look on, stunned, I smile at them. "It's a pleasure to finally meet you, Eragon. Brom, I don't have much time, so I'll make this quick. The Varden have betrayed you, they've planted spies. Once you get there, Brom, you must kill the twins if you wish to take down Galbatorix. I'll meet you in Du Weldenvarden, where Eragon can receive the training he needs. But first, you must deal with the traitors in the Varden before journeying to the elves." Before they can utter a single word in response, a scream echoes, making them wish to tear their own ears off. Moments later, Sky lands beside me, and we take flight towards Gil'ead.
As I stand astride her mighty shoulder blades, we glide over the fortress. I leap off, casting several spells to slow my descent, landing as soft as a feather on the rooftop. Sneaking through the stronghold, I grab the elves' weapons and use my magic to unlock the door. As I step inside, I'm struck by her beauty, even marred by cuts and bruises, she radiates a captivating aura of allure. Startled for a moment, I walk up to her, wrap her in my arms and turn to leave, when I hear a voice.
"Well, well, a jailbreak, how fascinating. Where are my manners? My name is Durza. Might I have the pleasure of yours?"
"NO," I retort. Releasing my Conqueror's Haki, I bring him to his knees. The floor and walls creak under the immense pressure as I tower over him. "You are unworthy of my name, of breathing the same air as I do. You should just die," I say, bending down to use my Armament Haki, I reach through his back, pulling out his heart. As he expires, the spirits within him burst forth in a stunning array of colors, swirling around, imbuing me with an unknown power.
The robotic voice chimes in once more, "Beep... Host has received the gift of the spirits. Your soul is now immortal, immune to soul attacks, which will instead be absorbed and strengthen your soul. You are on the path of the divine."
"Nice," I muse to myself.
Using my teleport spell, I find myself back on the beach from earlier. Walking slowly towards the small hut I've constructed for this purpose, I gently lay Arya on the bed and begin to heal her wounds. Once finished, I cover her with a blanket and step outside, just as Sky lands beside me. "Well, did they take the message seriously?"
"It appears so, nest mate," Sky replies.
"Good, good."
"We should rest here for a bit. The poison in her body is stronger than I anticipated. I'll have to delve into her mind and ask if she wishes me to purge it."
"I don't think she'll mind," Sky comments, "You're the strongest in this world. You should conquer it, acquire all the jewels, gold, and women you can. We could rule."
"HHAHAHAHAHAHA Sky, I know you'd love for me to make everyone kneel, but that's not my style. I know the system wants me to be king, but I'd rather explore other worlds first. Then, we can come back and rule all the worlds we've visited."
"YES, that's a good plan. Then, you can present me with your treasures, and I can lounge in a pool of jewels and gold. That sounds delightful."
"SIGH."
"OPEN STATUS," I command.
