Chapter 1: Invention for Real
Have you ever thought of something to become someone? Have you ever thought that a fantasy will turn into reality? Do you expect the things happen unexpectedly?
Well, here it is. A long time ago, Saudi Arabia has invented a human-like robot, a girl who named Sophia, to be the helping hands for the elders. It aims to lessen the work done by some people who own her. She has an ability to make people smile inspite of her being a technology-made robot.
Time passed by and she is never failing to provide a good service and to give amusement to the people everyday, so the government of its inventor decided to make Sophia, the robot, one of them. She was given a privilege to live normally with the same rights as real humans - Citizenship.
Citizenship is a sacred thing that should not be given easily. Strong basis, decision-making, opinions of others should be considered. Having this thing is essential in order for someone to have an identity.
Since she was human-like robot, she is sentient or she obtains feelings like humans do - fear, happiness, sadness, etc. Aside from that, Sophia can cover 50 facial expressions. The recognition was announced in public for her to feel happier and to have the chance to talk in front of the people on October 25.
"I am very honored and proud of this unique distinction. This is historical to be the first robot in the world to be recognized with a citizenship," she said.
Being honored and recognized is truly a pleasure. And as my stand, robots should be given a chance to live. It is man-made yet it gives a big help in our nation. Also, they are the ones who flourish our technology nowadays. Be proud of our own inventions.
