Chapter 13: addiction - pjm

Celina: the young warrior

Celina tapped her foot as she waited in a coffee shop for Jimin to arrive.

She went through her monologue she prepared for Jimin, she even went so far to imagine the whole scenario of what he'd say and how she'd respond. With determination in her eyes, she went through it one more time, just to be sure.

Jimin was her boyfriend of two years and they met at one of the many college parties.

As soon as her eyes met his raven orbs she knew that she wouldn't be able to escape them easily. It felt like his eyes were black holes that sucked her whole existence.

Spending time with him felt like she was enchanted, all her senses were hungry for his attention. A smile, a laugh, a touch, anything.

Celina was a very intelligent and hardworking student, but the moment Jimin called she'd dash out of the lecture to go to wherever he wanted her to. After months of begging for his attention, he finally asked her out.

What others called stupidity, she called love.

She glanced out of the window and saw him walking to the coffee shop she was in. Her mind recited all the reasons she wrote in her diary as to why she should break up with him.

First, he would always shout and break things when he was angry.

Second, nothing but lies came out of his mouth.

Third, he never kept a promise.

Fourth, he always ignored her opinion, humiliation was on the daily agenda.

Fifth, he introduced her to a world that almost killed her.

The list was endless. There were so many reasons to break up with him and it took every ounce of her courage to come to the decision of ending it.

Celina took a deep breath as she saw Jimin entering the coffee shop. Her heart was thumping in her chest uncontrollably as he took a seat in front of her.

"You wanted to talk?"

Her breath hitched at how beautiful he looked. His silver hair fell on his face in soft waves, his small black eyes observing her every move. The way he ran his fingers through his hair, grabbed the attention of every single female in the vicinity.

Celina bit her inner cheek as she prepared herself for the next words.

"Let's break up."

"What?"

"I said let's break up."

"Do you not love me?", his previously soft eyes were now fuming with anger. She bit her lower lip harshly as she felt the tears form in her doe eyes. The fact that she loved him more than herself was making this hard for her.

"Come on, we both know you'd be miserable without me", an arrogant smile appeared on his lips.

"Besides, what we're having is special, don't you agree with me sunshine?", he continued. Jimin got up and sat in the chair next to her. His fingers caressing her jawline softly.

sunshine.

The way that nickname rolled out of his tongue made her insides clench. Whenever he called her that she imagined being the warm rays of sunlight comforting his exhausted self during hard times.

Jimin smirked as he saw the hesitation in her eyes. He knew that she couldn't resist him calling her that. It was like a secret weapon he used whenever he wanted things his way.

"Do you really want to break up with me?", Jimin asked as he cupped her small face in his hands.

"No."

"That's my girl", he whispered. His strong arms pulled her closer to him. Their breaths mingled for a couple of seconds before he planted a soft peck on her lips.

This man was toxic and Celina was aware of it, but she always found herself falling into his traps.

A month later

Celina looked around her shared apartment with Jimin. Jimin has been acting suspicious for the past days. Not the cheating-on-me-suspicious, but he's-hiding-something suspicious.

After inspecting the kitchen and living room a couple of times, she decided to look through the bathroom. Just to be sure.

She checked the shower and the wooden cabinets, before glancing at the toilet. Celina raised her eyebrows as she noticed that the toilet tank wasn't in its place.

Celina was hesitant, scared of what was inside. She took a deep breath and removed the cover of the tank with shaky hands.

The moment her eyes laid on the plastic bag inside she felt her heart drop. Her hands reached for it and she clenched her jaw when she saw the contents.

"I can't believe this", Celina sat on the toilet seat as betrayal washed over her. How could he do this to her? He promised, not do it again.

Celina glared at the plastic bag that had white powder in it. The white powder she knew too well. The times when this thing was her only source happiness flashed through her eyes, making her wrinkle her nose in disgust.

The more she looked at it, the angrier she got. Her brows furrowed and her nose flared as she bit her lower lip in rage. A low growl escaped her lips as she stuffed the plastic bag in her pocket and walked to the living room.

This couldn't go on. No, it won't go on, she won't allow it.

Celina glanced at the wooden clock on the wall. Jimin should be here any minute.

As if on queue Jimin walked into the apartment while humming. His long silver fringe was tied into a man bun.

"Ay babe, what's up?" He approached her with a lazy smile.

"What's this?", Celina ignored his question.

The bag that was previously in her pocket was placed on the table. Celina leaned back on the sofa with crossed her arms as she glared at him.

Jimin's face fell as soon as his eyes landed on the clear plastic bag.

"I can explain-"

"Oh, you better."

"So what happened was u-uhm. These are not mine! Taehyung told me to take care of them for him", he rubbed his neck with a nervous smile.

"Take care of them as in stuffing them in your nose, right?"

"No, you know I stopped taking drugs", Jimin said sat down next to a fuming Celina.

"You promised Jimin. You were the one who suggested to stop taking and selling drugs", Celina looked into his eyes, those raven eyes that never failed to suck all the oxygen out of her lungs. The usual comforting blackness was replaced by pitless darkness that had no sign of anything she was used to seeing.

"I know", he whispered as he put her hands in his. "I promise you that it wasn't me", he smiled reassuringly at her.

Celina sighed and glanced at her tiny hands that were covered by his slightly bigger ones. Her eyes moved from their intertwined fingers to the watch around his wrist.

"Where did you get this from?", she raised an eyebrow at Jimin.

"Y-You mean this?", he stuttered as his hand left hers to cover his brand new Rolex.

"With what money did you buy it?"

"I had some leftover money-"

"Don't bullshit me Jimin. We don't even have enough money to pay for the upcoming rent."

"Fine, yes! I sold some drugs! What's the big deal?", he threw his arms in the air as he stood up in anger.

Celina felt her body get warm as anger spread through her veins. This man standing in front of her was the person she left her family for. The man her friends and family warned her to stay away from. They knew that he was only trouble. But Celina, being her love-struck self, defended him with all she had. How come it took her so long to realise how wrong all of this is?

She watched as Jimin paced around the living room, throwing excuses here and there. Claiming how they'd get through this and how he won't do it again, but Celina knew that he was lying.

Celina threw her head back as a dry laugh escaped her lips. She couldn't believe her current state, she finally realised how messed up her life had become. How one man ruined her perfectly normal life, just through his charms and breathtaking smile. She should've known, damn was she stupid. She should've noticed the warning signs as soon as he introduced her to the drug world.

Everyone warned her from the drugs that were sold in dark alleys, the ones that were secretly mixed into a drink, but no one warned her of the ones that came with a smile.
