When I awoke I was in a place i didn't recognize. I automatically started panicking.
Chance's face was hovering above my own. His clothes were shredded and blood was dried in spots of what was left of his silken white shirt.
"Where am I? What happend to my friends, what..."
"Shhh... calm down, lie back and take it easy, you've lost a lot of blood, and have been poisoned. I can help, but it has to be volentary."
"Wha..." my head started spinning and I was forced to lie back down anyway. My body convelsed and I was drenched in sweat. Darkness soon over took me again. It could have been days later before I awoke again, but when I finally did Chance was sprawled out in a chair asleep.
It was dark outside and the windows were open. The cool breez flowed through it and gently brushed my burning skin like a lovers hand. I sighed from the respite. Though it wasn't all that loud, atleast not to me, Chance stired awake.
" Oh, thank the Gods, you're awake." He straitened himselfe and then stood up out of the chair. He made his way over to me and put his wrist up to my forehead. His cute nose and mouth wrinkled, as if he didn't like what he felt.
"You're still burning up." The tone in his voice proved I was right.
My mouth was so dry that my tongue was stuck to the roof of it. I tried, but failed to produce some saliva.
"wa.. wa" I croaked
"Water?" Chance finished for me. I could only nod my head in agreement.
" Of course." he left and came back shortly afterwards. A glass of water and a bowl, of what I hoped was soup, in his hands.
"You've been out for more than two days, I thought you might be hungry." his words confirming my other suspicions.
He put the bowl down on the mahogany table and took a seat on the side of the bed. He helped me sit up enough to get a gew drinks of the water and then put the glass down and picked up the bowl.
"You don't have to feed me, you know. I'm sick, not an invalid." My tone sharper than what I ment for it to be.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to be rude." Chance just smiled and brought the spoon up to my mouth.
"I don't mind. The poison in your body has made you weak, so to conserve your strength, please, just let me feed you."
He looked me dead in the eyes. His filled with genuine concern, and his lips curled into a beautiful smile. How could I resist? Can anyone really be this gorgeous?
"Ok, you win." I said and then opened my mouth after a slight giggle escaped.
The broth of the soup was creamy and very delicious.
"What is this?" my question filled with actual wonder. I had never tasted anything like it.
" It's a family trade secret. Suffice it to say it's cream of chicken with herbs and spices that have been used by my family's chefs for generations." Chace said, not giving any hint as to what the spices were.
"it's rather..." before I could finish my statement though i began to vomit. Was that blood? No, it couldn't be.
"That's what I was afraid of." Chance discarded the bowl and helped me out of the bed, my sickness getting worse.
" I need you to try and listen to me, Sasha. As I said before you passed out two days ago, I can help you, but it has to be your choice. Do you accept my offer to help?"
