Chapter 12: The Match
[Saturday, 9 of November]
Rainy-(it seems tomorrow it's the first Quidditch match, Gryffindor against Slytherin...)
I was thinking on the common room while trying to make an ice shard with blizzard!, when Hermione came by.
Hermione- what are you doing with that ice?
Rainy- as you know, i depend of my transfiguration to make myself a weapon. So i thought of using my blizzard! spell to make some ice, and then, make an ice rapier.
Hermione- and why not directly conjure a rapier?
Rainy- ...what?
Hermione- i found the other day a book about the different branches of transfiguration and one was conjuration. It said '' Conjuration is an advanced form and branch of Transfiguration. Conjuration are distinguished from the other branches of Transfiguration, by their ability to transfigure the desired object from 'thin air'. '' I can search for a book about the theme.
Rainy- ...you, are a genius!! thanks!, anyway, don't search for the book. I'm going directly to McGonagall! See you later, and try calming Harry's nerves.
Hermione- that will be difficult...
I went sprinting down to McGonagall's office and knocked on the door. She told me to enter and i sat on one of the chairs.
Rainy- professor, i'm here because i want to try something, and i need your help.
McGonagall- hm? You are by far the best of the first years on my class. What do you need help with?
Rainy- as you know, i really like transfiguration and i wanted to try conjuration, but i need some advice to figure how to do it. The objective of the experiment is to be able to conjure an iron or silver rapier.
McGonagall- the conjuration is part of the 6th and 7th year on hogwarts. Can't you wait?
Rainy- i'll try it even without advice, if it's what you are asking.
McGonagall- not really. Fine, here you have, take this book. And remember that to conjure something you must have in mind everything about what you are conjuring. If the objective is a rapier, you should investigate how the iron is made, what is made of, and see some well-made rapiers. Anyway, i hope you won't do anything dangerous with this knowledge right?
Rainy- of course not. I just need some self-defense ace's up my sleeve. Thanks for the advice and the book.
McGonagall- no problem, and if you succeed, show it to me. I'll see if you are doing it good enough.
Rainy- ok! Good bye, professor.
McGonagall- oh! Before you leave. Tomorrow, after the match, the headmaster wants to see you. Come here, and i'll show you the way.
Rainy- sure.
i took the book and went directly to my bed to begin to study. I spent all the day, night, and morning of the next day with the curtains closed reading the book. Then Hermione showed up and told me that i should go to breakfast. And she was right, i was starving. So i followed her to the great hall
On the Gryffindor table some of the first years, including Ron and Hermione, were trying to cheer up Harry and make him eat the breakfast. But he had an horrible face and it seemed that Hermione couldn't do anything to tranquilize him.
Rainy- why are you so nervous, Harry?
Harry- what do you mean? I've got to play in an hour...
Rainy- i'm not asking that. You know that the faster and smaller the seeker is, the better right? Then why a first year natural, with a Nimbus Two Thousand, is nervous? You are gonna destroy Slytherin...
Harry- what if the other seeker is better? What if i get hit by a bludger? This is my first match, literally. I haven't seen any, i don't know what to expect.
Rainy- Woods has already told you that you are probably the best seeker right now, so i wouldn't expect much of the other seeker... and is the Weasleys job that the bludger don't hit you. Besides, you don't have to do that much. You will just be watching the match like us until you see the snitch. Who knows maybe you can catch it on the first minute.
Harry- you are quite optimistic, did you know that?
Rainy- but of course. That's a given when you are as awesome as i am! Hehehe.
Hermione- sure miss i'll-put-this-in-the-potion-what-can-possibly-go-wrong!
Rainy- but the explosion was pretty, right?
Ron- but Snape's face wasn't...
Harry- hahaha! That was the only time he was more angry with someone else than with me.
So we finished breakfast (even Harry) and went to the stands to see the match. By far, the best part of the match was Lee Jordan, the one doing the commentary. I was like a minute laughing when he called Angelina attractive at the beginning of the match. It wasn't a lie, but it was really out of place. And i loved it.
After some time, and some foul plays of the Slytherin team, Harry's broom begun to act weird. And Hermione saw that Snape was doing something, or so we thought...
Rainy- what!? what is needed to make that cursing thing!
Hermione- direct eye contact and if you want it to be more powerful, some muttering.
Rainy- well, then this is easy enough... Command! Magic! Blind!.
With that Snape suddenly got up from his chair surprised and tried some magic on his eyes. But it wasn't working. Meanwhile, harry was struggling and the broom was still acting strange.
Rainy- it isn't stopping! Maybe Snape wasn't the one! Is there another one in the stand with the same characteristics??
Hermione- i- i'm looking but- There!! Quirrell is also doing it and is hiding his mouth!
Rainy- well. I'm not sure what do you guys have with Snape, but that's by far a more suspicious behaviour... Command! Magic! Double! Blind! Mute! (i'm not going to risk it)
And with that Quirrell also stood up. Looking not only surprised but also fearful. Harry got to his broom, and some time later, he got the snitch with his mouth. I looked to the professors stand but Snape and Quirrell had disappeared.
