Chapter 40: *Spoilers*
"Welcome professor and Rick, Lord Adril is waiting for you at the Garden," Nolan welcomes the guests with a warm smile.
They were led to a beautiful Garden, Lord Adril was sitting in a chair while drinking coffee.
"Rick and Professor! Both of you please, come and sit here," Lord Adril invited Aizel and Rick with a warm smile as he pointed to the empty chairs in front of him.
Both of them sat in the chairs.
"Coffee or Tea?" Lord Adril asked.
"Coffee," replied Rick, "Tea for me," replied Professor Aizel.
'Clank' Lord Adril lifted the kettle made out of clay and start pouring tea and coffee for them.
"Rick! What is life?" Lord Adril suddenly ask a question.
"What is Life?" Rick took a deep breath and thought for a moment, "Life is a living organism which process growth through metabolism, reproduction and the power of adaptation through changes originating internally."Rick replied from the dictionary with some uncertainty.
"Professor, care to explain the details of our body from micro levels?" Lord Adril look at Aizel and ask.
"Ahem… I will try to make it short" Aizel cleared his throat, "Our physical existence is cells, Trillions of them.
The cell is a living being, a machine made up of up to 50,000 different proteins, It has no consciousness, will or purposes, but it is still an individual.
Cells combine and cooperate, they specialize and respond to one another.
Together they form huge structures for jobs like preparing food, gathering resources, transporting stuff around, scouting the environment.
And over time, they develop a complex organism with remarkable capacities.
If we extract the cells from our body and put it in the right environment, they will continue to survive for a while or if you put them in the right place, they will survive for a very long time, like transplanting organs
They can exist without us but we cannot exist without them, If we take all cells away there is no us.
Our Arms, heart, and legs are an incredibly complex and complicated system made of trillions of individual cells, and yet we breathe, digest and interact with each other.
How do our cells know what to do?
Think of the pacemaker cells in our hearts, nobody commands the heart, billions of them just need to send out impulse to collectively create a heartbeat.
Each of the organs with their specific cells collectively works together and sync up with different parts of the organs.
These organs act according to the feedback they get and communicate as a single unit, and the whole body communicates through neurons by sending out electrical and chemical signals called neurotransmitter, that's how body function
The next thing is where did the consciousness come from and how did it form?
Consciousness comes from our brain and it's the only organs who set us apart and give us a unique identity, you can change all of your body organs but as long as you have your brain, your identity will be the same.
Now how did we form this unique consciousness?
The answer is Emergence and our Evolutionary ladder(DNA)
Example: Ants and Bees are stupid insects individually but they developed a high level of intelligence together, Termites can build air conditioner home with precise temperature for growing their food fungi.
Bees are divided into different groups for different purposes, each group has different tasks like scouting, harvesting, building structures and soldiers guarding their home like a full-fledged functioning society.
They even know how to use strategies against the enemies, which is to lure the enemy scouts with delicious food, and swarm the enemy with their numbers and kill it before it escapes and exposed their location.
These collective thinking of intelligence when the individuals are stupid is called Emergence, same with our bodies, our whole body with trillions of cells and units of organs function together to form a unique consciousness with intelligence, which is called emergence, our body is the same as human society, a single person cannot defend himself from wild animals, build roads, guns, machinery for farmings, so we socialize and evolve as a group with each person contributing to the society, that's how cells co-exist and survive together.
And our intelligence and consciousness come from the refined process of our evolutionary ladder/DNA, each animal has its own ladder of evolution, our ladder is more unique;
Every living thing, or a self, is a part of the Universe that sustains itself and makes more of its kind, to do so, It needs energy.
When a cell needs more energy or food, it needs to move, so the first step is mobility, it also needs to stay away from other cells who thought they were food.
The next thing is to develop a sense and the direction to move to find better food or energy and to add some perception at a distance, you need vision.
Now you can move, sense and see your surroundings.
Vision adds context and depths to our world, with vision comes a sense of the space we and our food existence in, It also add a huge step towards familiar consciousness.
But we eat only what we saw, the next step is to visualize the food, that is to memorize the food and search for them later on even if the food does not appear in our sensory, this will make a huge step toward inner evolution.
Now we are familiar with the world with memories…" before Professor could finish Rick Grunt.
"I get it, each of our organs evolves to our needs and forms a brain, get to the point already," Rick said with veins bulging out of his forehead, Rick was truly angry.
The professor clearly said he would make it short, he believes it for a second.
"Ahm... Professor, continue and this time just get to the point," Lord Adril said with a sheepy smile.
Professor mouth gap with an awkward face.
He made an awkward cough "Our body is trillions of individual cells, forming units with different type of cells, they sync and function in our body as a whole; And our brain whose function is processing sensory information, regulating blood pressure and breathing, and releasing hormones(these three things are developed from our evolutionary ladder DNA), because our brain is the main driving force and with the ladder of evolution, we developed a unique emergence of consciousness.
That's it, Individual cells form a few unit sets of organs, they form a living being, the living being than form an emergence and developed consciousness.
The DNA is the code of how things evolve, the genetic code is like a memory of the past," Professor Aizel finish with a sigh, he doesn't know if they could understand with this simple explanation in such a short amount of time, he wanted to explain more in detail.
If Rick and Adril hear his thought they would spit out blood.
"Rick! Do you understand what Professor Aizel just explain?" Adril asked.
"Yes! Lord Adril," replied Rick
"Well! What I'm about to tell the two of you is a lifelong secret, If there is no war or a chance of survival I won't tell anyone of you this secret," Adril said with a serious tone.
Rick and Aizel became interesting and closely paid attention.
"Our Earth is a living planet," Lord Adril said and looked at the two of them whose mouths were wide open, the gap was so big that it could fit an Ostrich egg.
