July 19, the year 2623...
In the Union High Council Chamber, everybody was engaged in heated debates over the new proposal. 35 days had passed since Lord Adril visited Aizel. Today marked the significant day when Prof Aizel would deliver his presentation to everyone.
He did his best to explain everything, persuading most of the Lords and Elders. However, some still harbored doubts, remaining skeptical about the process and its success rates. In truth, they couldn't come to terms with the idea of their impending demise. After all, who isn't afraid of death? Consequently, they clung to hope, still wanting to explore other avenues of escape across different parts of the Galaxy.
These events fell within Adril's expectations. He had already considered a solution. He entertained the idea of allowing those who wished to escape to do so in various directions. After all, they might have a chance of survival and could potentially become the seeds of humanity's future.
Amidst the bickering and disputes, Adril slammed his hand on the table.
"Enough!" he shouted, his voice cutting through the tumult.
"I have decided. Those who want to leave can leave. We don't know if this time travel will succeed or not. Therefore, we cannot put all our eggs in one basket. We will create multiple groups and send them in different directions," Adril declared, his gaze piercing as he addressed everyone in the chamber.
"Lord Adril is wise," echoed throughout the chamber as everyone stood up to show their respect. Adril commanded deep admiration from all present. He was the unifying force that kept humanity together and ensured peace prevailed. With his power and control over the entire populace, he instilled a sense of security in their hearts.
Tired of the endless political strife and dirty tactics, they found solace in Adril's leadership. They had learned valuable lessons from past conflicts and were content with their lives under his guidance.
Despite the division and disagreements over the decision, Lord Adril respected everyone's opinions and devised a solution that garnered their collective approval.
"Marshal Colton! How is the situation on Island Clusters?" Lord Zhang Wei inquired.
"Lord Zhang! Right now, the situation is not good in Island Clusters. They have pushed us back deeper into the cluster, and they are gaining momentum. The casualty of our troops has surpassed 50 million, but we have managed to kill billions of class 1 and 2 Entomons. We haven't seen anything out of the ordinary and haven't encountered any of their elite bugs," Colton explained.
A somber mood settled over everyone as they listened to the staggering number of casualties.
"Something doesn't feel right about their behavior. Nolan, how many escape ships do we have?" asked Adril.
"Lord, we have: 137 Nomad-E Class, 473 SC-Freedom, and 1782 Voyager-Civilian Class on Earth. If we include ships from all of the planets in Sol Cluster, we have enough for everyone," Nolan replied.
"Lords and Elders, those who want to leave, please put your hands up," Adril shouted.
With their heads bowed in shame, 14 individuals raised their hands. The Union comprised 15 Lords and 35 Elders. Lords served as leaders of the federations, while Elders represented large independent organizations. In the 26th Century, one could ascend to become a king and govern over a planet as long as they adhered to the rules. With abundant planets and resources, many individuals purchased planets and established their own organizations and kingdoms, provided they received approval from the Union. However, not every independent organization was recognized by the Union.
"I won't judge anyone for your decision. It's natural that you guys want to live. This is human nature, and this is what kept us alive for millions of years," Adril consoled them.
Suddenly, an emergency siren blared, startling everyone. 'It can only mean one thing, they are here,' Lord Adril thought.
A person entered and introduced himself to Lord Adril.
"Brigadier General Benjamin, reporting to Lord Adril," Benjamin shouted with a salute.
"At ease, soldier. Tell us what happened?" Adril requested.
"We have detected 3 wormholes opening in our solar system near the Kuiper Belt, Sir. It seems to be the doing of the Leviathans. Many Entomons have passed through the wormhole and are approaching us, Sir," Benjamin reported.
Panic swept through the room. Those bugs could travel through wormholes?
"OMG..."
"We are doomed."
"This is a nightmare."
The atmosphere was one of chaos and confusion. Everyone was rightfully terrified.
"SILENCE!"
Adril's voice cut through the panic. He was also feeling the agitation. "Prof Aizel! Care to explain what the hell is going on?" he demanded.
"At first, I had my suspicions, but now I understand. These Entomons are an ancient life form that has evolved and lived for billions of years, reaching a stage where they can adapt to the vacuum of space. To travel across distant stars and space, they have adapted their bodies and senses to extreme conditions.
Their sensory abilities have become so advanced that they are able to detect wormholes and traverse space to search for food and resources. They are similar to earthworms that hunt for food beneath the Earth without relying on their eyes. All living organisms on Earth are mere nutrients for them. Even though there are plenty of planets in the Galaxy that support life, we cannot find a planet similar to Earth. Our planet is fertile and full of life. Just look at the number of plants, animals, and marine life. This planet is essentially a gold mine for them."
We were exposed in Cygnus 1 when we first made contact with them. They were able to detect our scent, and like breadcrumbs, they were able to follow the trails and determine the position of our Earth. Their senses can detect wormholes, not to mention our scents. Similar to hunting dogs, if you give them a piece of cloth from a person, the dog will be able to trace that person. Now, multiply that sense by millions, billions, or even trillions of times. That's what we are talking about: extreme evolution. Ancient lifeforms that have lived for billions of years.
Just think about it, it's not difficult to gather your entire life's information with just a drop of blood, saliva, or skin cells.
We also have devices that can discern what we eat just from our scent... So, imagine how capable these highly evolved beings are if they can travel through space and detect wormholes," Prof Aizel explained.
"Colton, I want you to oversee this battle. Test out those Leviathans, and see if you can find any weaknesses," Adril ordered.
"I won't disappoint you, Lord!" Colton responded confidently.
"Lord Adril," Prof Aizel called out.
When Prof Aizel called out to Lord Adril, everybody felt annoyed. They didn't want another long, exhausting lecture. They felt this Professor had a motor mouth that could talk for days. It couldn't be helped. Since morning, the Professor had been talking nonstop, explaining about time-travel.
"Prof Aizel! Would you like to add something?" asked Adril. He knew the Prof had something important to share.
"Lord, if my theory is right, I'm sure it's the Leviathan that is opening up the wormholes. To open a wormhole, you need a huge amount of negative repulsive energy which can keep the wormhole from collapsing from its gravitational pressure, and they need an extraordinary amount of energy to traverse inside the wormhole. Looking at their gigantic size, I believe only the Leviathans have capabilities to hold that much amount of energies needed to open up a wormhole. That means they will have to spend a large amount of energy to open a wormhole, and it will take a few months to get their energy back. We will be at least safe from attacks for a..." Before Aizel could finish, he was stopped by Adril.
"Just cut to the point!" Adril said. 'How is this guy able to keep talking the whole day? With his skinny stature, where did all of his energy come from?' he thought and wondered.
Prof Aizel blushed with shame. He knew he had annoyed everyone, including Lord Adril, the person who was always believed to be calm and composed.
"Lord! What I want to say is, right now it's the best time to attack. When they consume a lot of energy, their defenses will be at their weakest moment, like deflated ocean whales without water. Not entirely weak, but at least 33-40% weaker than their originals. Which is still tough, but a much better chance of winning without any casualties. With this, I'm done for today," Professor Aizel said, laying back in his chair.
"HA HA HA…"
"You would make a better general than most of us if you put your time and energy into it," Jayden joked.
"If I'm the general, then who is going to do all of the research?" Aizel pointed his finger at Jayden. "You...? You don't even know basic physics," Aizel scolded Jayden.
Jayden blushed with shame and stopped antagonizing the talkative scientist.
"Colton! Go and start organizing your troops. You can leave now," Adril began giving out orders.
"Yes, Lord," Colton bowed and left the chamber.
"Nolan! Recall everyone from all the other planets. If they can travel through wormholes, then there is no point in distributing our forces separately. We will build our final line of defense firmly in this solar system," Adril ordered Nolan.
"Yes, Lord," Nolan replied, sending out orders to every military leader through the virtual network.
"Lord! What if those independent royal families and the merchants refuse to comply?" Nolan asked worriedly.
"Leave them behind. We don't have time for internal wars or diplomacy. Let them defend their own territories. Just bring those who are willing," Adril said firmly. He didn't have time to deal with selfish independent monarchies and merchants. If he forced them to come to the Sol solar system, it would only lead to conflict.
"Alright! Now for the escape team. To Lords and Elders who have decided to leave, I'll authorize you 5,000 large and medium-sized ships and 10,000 small ships. The more you spread out, the better for everyone. You will have higher chances of escaping this hellish situation.
You know the drill. Women and children first. All aboard must have a clean background and be medically certified. We will provide you with Prugnator-Droids, Meta-humans, Cyborgs, troops, and battleships for protection.
With these resources, you should be able to defend and handle most situations," Adril summarized, offering generous amounts of resources.
The Lords and Elders who decided to leave couldn't help but feel ashamed. The way Lord Adril treated them made them hang their heads low. His generosity and willingness to help everyone showed how much he loves and cares for humanity.
On the other hand, they felt greedy and selfish, unwilling to take responsibility and opting to run away like cowards. Would they be the same people without Lord Adril and the selfless members of the chamber? That seemed uncertain and very unlikely.
The remaining members who chose to stay behind at least knew they would die together with their friends and families, sharing their last meal in unity. They were followers of Lord Adril for the longest time and understood that without him, society would never be the same again. They didn't want to witness the past brutality and dirty nature of humans again - the wars, corruption, and politics were repugnant to the core.
The ones escaping were viewed as greedy and selfish, and they realized that nothing would ever be the same again. Despite enjoying the happy moments and loving the peace, they chose to run away like cowards instead of defending and giving back to society.
Now, they were having second thoughts. With the new information they got from Aizel, they realized it's not possible to escape the Entomons if they can travel through wormholes. They finally resolved to die alongside everyone and cherish their last moments together.
Lord Adril possessed charms that could make everyone feel at ease. People couldn't help but trust and respect him. When with him, thoughts of backstabbing faded away, and they could simply enjoy their carefree lives with him around.
The 14 people hesitated. The Leviathans could travel through wormholes, and there was no guarantee they would be able to escape. Additionally, the military leaders warned that they would be more vulnerable out in the open.
"Lord! I would like to retract my request. I want to fight alongside you and die while fighting. I refuse to be remembered as a coward. There's no chance of escaping those monsters; I'd rather contribute something to the world. This is my home too," shouted one of the Elders. Then, like a chain reaction, all the Elders retracted their requests.
All of them exchanged smiles, recognizing they were now in the same boat, ready to sink together into this bottomless pit. It was a cruel world they were living in.
Adril smiled as he looked at everyone. He was glad that everybody could come together in this difficult time. Humans could be as dirty and disgusting as the muddiest of waters, but they could also be as beautiful and innocent as a lotus flower. His life had been about serving humanity, sacrificing everything. In the end, it was all worth it.
"Brayden and Jayden!" Adril shouted. "Prepare for war."
"Yes, Lord," both of them replied, patting their chests and saluting.
