Marcus was having a rough time in the royal palace. Way too many surprises and secrets he wasn't supposed to discover on this seemingly simple trip. On his first day here he already got to know something not even the most loyal people would know ever. His Masters' friendly relationship with the King and one of the Protectors was already big enough for him, but the background story of it all was much more terrifying. A Protector and a King on the Kingdom rebelling against the Kingdom itself. It was like a children's bedtime story where the protagonists would pursue the good in people for ages to come.
A lot of time passed during and after Servan's story. While Marcus was dazed off, Servan changed his appearance once again into his human form. Both him and Titus were patiently waiting for some more time until Titus said: "I had the same reaction so just take your time".
That made Marcus recollect himself as he had tons of questions now.
"M-Master, what's your connection with them then?" he asked carefully since he didn't want to experience another massive secret unprepared.
"I'm just a normal noble who has the same goals as Servan" Titus answered but then continued: "I say I am a normal noble because I am the founder of the Bearclaw family and I am not blessed by any magic beast. I just got my family name because of my unique way of fighting you have yet to experience."
"Why didn't you tell me all of this earlier?" Marcus asked a bit frustrated for not knowing his Masters' story.
"Well, you never asked." Titus bluntly replied. "And you were too young to know any of this before" he added.
Right before Marcus was about to start his rant, Servan intervened and asked: "Do you know why we told you all of this even though we are risking a millennia worth of planning and preparations?"
Marcus felt taken aback because of the somehow freakish way that question was laid down.
"Why?" Marcus asked while preparing for the worst.
"You have two blessings from the Protectors" Titus said.
Just when Marcus thought things couldn't get any worse they did and left his mind completely obliterated. "Two... Two blessings? How!?" he asked.
"I noticed a change in your bloodline after you tried saving that little demi-human girl in the woods two years ago" Titus replied with a look of complete seriousness. "After further inspection, I found out you were blessed by the Protector of the Protectors, the only magic beast to never give his blessing, Arcane Regius Wolf."
"As to why that old furball would do it I don't know but he had probably seen something none of us could," Servan said.
Marcus slowly walked over to the couch laid down next to the table and sat down on it with a loud thump. He didn't know what was happening anymore and he just couldn't accept any of it. Everything he thought he knew about himself or any of the people closest to him turned out to be wrong.
"How? Why? I don't deserve it, I'm not ready in the slightest. At least he could appear and tell me what he wants from me!" he cried out.
"Maybe you are already doing what he wants from you, don't you think? You are constantly growing as a person, both mentally and physically while holding true to your heart. If I didn't see your progress myself I could barely make a connection between you and that 8-year-old boy 5 years ago.
You gave me hope, Marcus, hope that everything Servan, Richard and I will eventually come true. You showed me how much I have strayed from my goal of wanting to help those poor demi-human souls that never did anything wrong in this world." Titus emotionally said.
"Titus contacted us 5 years ago saying he has another potential candidate for the cause. We, of course, told him to keep an eye on you and your actions. And then when he noticed the change in your bloodline he immediately sent another letter stating in it all that happened. We decided to wait a couple of years just to be safe. I can only imagine how stupid it sounds that a couple of old men are placing their trust in a 13-year-old boy who has yet to grow pubic hair." Servan added.
Marcus didn't have the time or the will to get insulted by that as his brain was already working at full speeds trying to place everything at its rightful place in his mind. Time and time again he got mind blown in a matter of hours.
"Don't get too relaxed, you have yet to meet Richard," Servan said with a chuckle.
And indeed after some time, the three rebels went to a separate room even more luxurious than the guest rooms. This room was for important guests and ambassadors and it had a soundproof barrier covering it whole while in the guest room Servan himself deployed the barrier. The two guards in the front immediately let them inside. There they met the King or as Titus and Servan call him, simply, Richard. Entering the room, Marcus finally had a good opportunity to take a look at this King. the King was wearing war regalia as the official clothes. Regalia itself was made of the already mentioned Pluma metal with gold patterns inlaid in it. The armor looked magnificent by its own but got even more beautiful because of the cape made from presumably the Frost Puma's fur with some red gems inlaid in it. The King himself was a middle-aged man with a strong jaw that even further highlighted his black trimmed beard along with his short black hair. He was a massive man reaching nearly 2 meters and 10 centimeters in height with wide and strong shoulders and a magnificent build overall.
The King was sitting at the forefront of the table with a cup of tea on the table. He was looking at some sort of a scroll that was most likely a report from the border with the Empire because of the crest belonging to the Fireknuckle family; the family currently responsible for defending the northern border. The King even seemed kind of pleased so it must've been good news.
When he noticed the three of them he smiled slightly and said "Oh, it seems I have kept you waiting. Forgive me about that, it was quite important after all". The way the King started speaking surprised Marcus quite a lot since it was entirely different than the previous tone he used in the throne room.
"Please, sit," he said while pointing to the chairs around the table. Marcus sat next to Titus who sat next to the King while Servan sat on the opposite side next to the King. Some awkward silence came to be that made Marcus feel slightly uncomfortable.
"Well, Little Marcus, How are you feeling knowing that you are the strongest 13-year-old in the continent?" said the King in a mellow tone.
"Good, I... I guess?" answered Marcus.
"Good, I hope you improve even more over time as we will need your strength in the upcoming war"
"I will do my best, especially with a certain Master by my side," said Marcus while pointing at Titus with his eyes.
"Hoo, so you enjoy being the disciple of this tough looking old man who's actually, a sweet grandpa in heart," the King said while laughing. Soon Servan joined him in the laughter while Titus was glaring at both of them for ruining his image.
"Anyway, Little Marcus, there's a reason why you are here. The bull can never be contained and controlled for too long. And neither can we, especially after gaining quite a few reasons for the rebellion we are planning. We know we are quite weak on our own against the giant called the Church and their patriots. That's why we gained quite a few allies over the years, but there's never enough of strong supporters. So let me formally as you, Little Marcus." he paused slightly but soon continued "Will you fight with us for the good of this world?"
