Chapter 1: First Look
It was our first voyage and we were 12 in numbers.
And the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.
When we saw something majestic in look and bright as stars walking on the lake, we were terrified. "It's a ghost,"they said, and cried out in fear.
But the saviour immediately said to us: "Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid."
Knowing that He is the saviour our lives
"Lord, if it's you," I replied, "tell me to come to you on the water."
"Come," he said.
Then I got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward my saviour. But when I saw the wind, I was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!"
Immediately he reached out his hand and caught me. "You of little faith," he said, "why did you doubt?"
And when we climbed into the boat, the wind died down. Then I and those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, "Truly you are the Son of God."
