Chapter 35: Chapter 35
Mrs. Webster combed her hair in a simple side plait and applied a light makeup for her. The jewelry she was given to wear was a silver heart chain with its matching earrings, bracket and ring that fit her middle finger. The jewelry complemented dress and completion well.
Angel sat and listened to the other four at her table talk about their day as well and how they were glad that they had passed the sixth round. It was only when they said that it was already Thursday did she realize how close her final examinations were and how little she had studied.
She started to get in a panic mode and didn't want to miss out on the scholarship because she couldn't afford to pay the tuition unless she got a job as soon as she arrived in Country A but then those terms of job being provided for her was with the scholarship.
"Hey, you in the pink and flowers dress, do you have an idea what the next round is about?" she heard someone asked but she didn't realize it was her that they were talking to until the girl on her right shook her.
"Sorry did you say something?" Angel asked.
"Wow, you seemed to be in a world far away," the girl opposite her said.
"Just thinking about something, what did you say earlier?"
"We just wanted to know if you had an idea what the next round might be," the girl that shook her asked.
"Maybe a talent show or something."
"Why you think that?"
"Well, isn't that something they always have in those beauty pageant?"
"You watch a lot of television."
"No, but I know they have does for those high school queen and king competitions."
"True, do you all have a talent that you all would be doing then if it is the talent show?"
Angel sat there and ate quietly as the others bragged about all their achievements, which pack they came from, how wealthy they were and all their different type of talent that they have. At one point she zoned out completely from the conversation as she started to think about her courses once again and how much she had to revise.
Angel returned to her room with Mr. Fortune, she didn't even pay attention to who was in the apartment again with her. All she was focused on was to get her examination roster and to start studying for the upcoming examinations. When she returned to her room she just freshened up to get back her focus and lock herself in the room.
Angel studied the entire night and only fell asleep when it was around six in the morning from focusing all her attention on a little of each subject. She was so deep in her sleep that she didn't even hear someone knock on her room door a few time far less when someone entered the room.
Four individuals were standing by the bed foot looking at the sleeping girl on the bed. The only person that moved from by the bed foot was Miss Carter as she saw how messy the table near the bed was. Miss Carter walked towards the table and looked at all the books that were scattered on the table, and started to neaten the table.
She noticed there were a lot of scrappy notes made in both the textbooks and note books and only to the bottom of the pile did she see the examination timetable. She immediately realized that Angel was trying to pull some last minute studying for the upcoming examinations and she was backward in it according to the study roster due to the busy schedule the girls had.
Miss Carter pointed the door and the other three walked out the door followed by Miss Carter who closed the door very quietly. It was only after they sat down on the sofa in the living room that Miss Carter said, "Do you know if she has any talents?"
"I really can't say. Angel has always been quiet and kept to herself because no one was allowed to be her friend since the new luna came in the pack. Angel didn't mind and I think it was because she actually would get the time to study. If I am correct the final examinations are about to start and well over the last year she would lock herself in her room during this time."
"Yes, according to the examination table I saw, her examinations would start on Monday and it looks like she is backwards in that. Number four you are the one we would have to depend on to win this challenge and get to the semi-finals. Do you have any kind of talent?" Miss Carter asked.
"I know how to sing and dance."
"How long it would take for you to remember a song?"
"It would normally take me a week."
"Is there any song you know by heart?"
"Yeah a few, but I would need to prep myself so I wouldn't make any mistake."
"Fine, is there any way that we can help?"
"Do you have something that have the lyrics?"
"Sure," Miss Carter said and handed her the cell phone she had.
"Oh my god, this would take too long since it seems like I would mix up the lyrics for a few songs. Maybe I could dance."
"That could work to, go and warm up and start practicing then," Miss Carter said and dismissed her. Only when there was only Miss Carter, Mrs. Webster and Mr. Bernard was in the living room alone did she say, "What do you think we should do about number five?"
"Our highness would wake up at some point of time. From what you said, she is studying so I think it is best that I prepare something for all five of us to eat and when she wakes up she would need something to eat," Mrs. Webster said.
"Okay, yes she would need energy, but what about winning this next rounds?"
"Jennifer why are you constantly worrying, I believe things will work out and our highness, I mean Angel, am number five will do well," Mr. Bernard said.
"Good that you have some faith, let just hope that one of our girls would go on to the semi-finals and we wouldn't let the young master be disappointed," Miss Carter said.
