Chapter 20: Dinner
The elevator opened and Angel was about to get on it but it was already crowded and she had to wait for a few of the girls that were in it to exit and then she could got on. After she entered she was about to press the number for the lower floor but she saw that the number was already pressed.
Angel just stood to the side and looked at one side of the elevator wall, she could clearly see the reflection on it was showed how the other girls were looking at her in disdain. Angel didn't bother with it because she was accustomed to that kind of look from small.
She didn't even pay attention to what the other girls in the elevator was saying. When the elevator stopped and the door opened Angel released a sigh as she got of the elevator. She stood not to far from the door as she looked at the display map of the floor that showed the names and the locations of each store.
After memorizing the map Angel then pulled out the list with the recommendation of what she should buy and from which stores. She was not accustomed to shopping in malls and grew up with the habit of heading to whichever store she needed to and get whatever she needed and then head back home.
Angel did the same, she didn't bother heading to any other stores or even looking for anything other than what she was requested to get. It took her an hour on that floor to get the things she needed because there were a lot of other girls walking around on that floor and she didn't want to push her way into the stores and then there were a lot of girls that wanted to cash as well.
As soon as she finished finding all the stores on the list that was on that floor and getting everything that she needed, Angel then head back to the elevator with a few bags in her hand before heading to the next floor.
By the time Angel finished shopping and getting all the required things she needed her hands were filled and she was both tired and exhausted. Angel head straight to her apartment floor and to her room. She felt sticky and hungry but she knew that she didn't have much time since she needed to get to the meeting room before seven.
Angel watched the time and saw it was already six, she quickly showered and dressed before she head out of her room and apartment. As soon as Angel arrived in the meeting room she saw that there were three males and two female sitting at a table in front of a room that had ten single tables spread out around the room like if it was a classroom setting.
She looked at the five of them, she recognized one of the man as he was the one that came to her pack house the night before. She also recognized the young man as the attendant that took her luggage that morning. The next man looked to be in his mid twenties, the younger woman looked to be in her mid twenties as well and then the older woman looked to be in her mid forties.
The five of them looked up and saw her enter the room, the man that picked her last night was the first to speak, "Find the seat with your name on the desk."
Angel started from the back and started looking around for her name, when she found her name she realized that she was sitting in the extreme right of the room. There was no desk and chair either to the front or back of her, it was as though she was isolated from the others just like back at her pack house or even in her classes.
"Angel White?" the young woman asked.
Angel nodded her said to say yes, shortly after the older woman got up from by the desk and head to a table to the back of them. She saw the woman was doing something but Angel didn't really care what she was doing as she started to look around at her surrounding.
"Eat," she head someone said, Angel looked towards the voice and saw the older woman placing a tray with a plate of food and a glass on juice on the desk in front of her.
The plate had salad that covered half of the plate, some steamed vegetables that was a little more than quarter of the plate, some red beans that was one eights of the plate and two pieces of meat.
From the looks of it, she could tell that the older woman had a diet plan for her, Angel wanted to refuse the food but she was hungry and tired so she started to eat the food without complaining. The food had little or no taste at all which made her lose her appetite but she was hungry and just ate the tasteless food to fill her stomach.
While Angel was eating the other girls from her pack entered and they were also served food by the older woman. Angel saw that they were all served different types of meals, it was as though each of them were being treated differently. Angel just continued to eat quietly in her corner without any complain and as soon as she finished eating her tray was removed and she had to wait for the others to finish eating.
Angel noticed that the other nine were also served dessert and she wasn't served any, but she still didn't complain as she just looked out the window that was next to her and observed the park that was opposite the hotel. She could see that there were a lot of families that were walking around the park.
She always wished that her family would do those things and she would be able to join them, but her pack never invited her to go anyway with them as they would always leave her to do all the chores in the pack while they all went out to enjoy themselves.
