Chapter 14: Go And Pack

Ronald started walking around the pack, he noticed among the forty members in this small pack there were only twenty that were young adults and among the twenty there were fifteen young ladies. Five of those young ladies did not have a mark and among those five Rebecca was one. Angel was the last of the ten girls that had the mark on her neck and Rebecca was annoyed that Angel was getting to participate in the selection which mean that she and the other four girls that remained in the pack would have to do the work.

Rebecca wanted to stall Angel so she wouldn't get to go on the bus and wanted to how from the others how Angel would be humiliated and punished when the guards dragged her there. She wanted to make things harder for Angel so that it was impossible for Angel to move on beyond the first round so she would have to return to the pack and do all the chores in the pack like she always did.

"Go and pack," Ronald told Angel when he stopped by her as she was the last of the marked girls and the last member in the pack for him to pass by. He looked at the time and saw that there was only fifteen minutes again to go before the bus had to leave.

Rebecca smirked as she also thought that there wasn't enough time for Angel to finish packing up the left over rags that everyone gave her over the years. Angel left the dining room and returned to her room and closed the door. Her things were already packed so all she had to do was look around and see if there was anything she was missing again.

Angel took ten minutes to neaten from one side of the room to the other and also look under her bed to make sure that she was not leaving anything back. She was glad that she started from one corner of the room to neaten and ended back where she started. When the bed was fully cleaned and there was nothing else to fix she put the two textbooks that were under the mess and all her toiletries in the duffle bag after unlocking and unzipping it.

After she took another look around she heard the fourth blowing of the horn which meant that the bus would be leaving in the next minute. Angel zipped back the duffle bag and locked the padlock again before throwing the duffle bag on one shoulder and the travelling bag on the other before pulling the suitcase with her palm and walked out of the room.

"I told you this is mine," she heard Rebecca saying as soon as she entered the living room. "Where do you thing you are going?" Rebecca immediately stood up and said as she looked at all the new bags that Angel had.

"She is partaking in the selection and if you try to stop her you would be punished. I already told you to give me the chain nicely twice and I not going to ask another time," Ronald told Rebecca as he was getting ready to snatch it from her.

"Babe just give him the chain, he already told you that he wanted to just look at it," Brad told Rebecca.

"Fine," Rebecca said and took of the chain and hand it to him.

"What are you waiting for? Get on the bus now," Ronald turned and looked at Angel.

Angel didn't stick around to see what would happen to her chain and Rebecca, while Angel was leaving Rebecca looked at Angel with hatred and swore that she would do anything to cause trouble for her so that she would never move pass the first round. She didn't know how she would do it but she had to do it somehow.

"My little Angel," Ronald said as he looked at the magic inscription on the inside of the pendant.

"What?" Rebecca asked.

"Is this really yours?" Ronald asked her, at the same time the last horn was blown and the sound of the bus pulling out of the driveway could be clearly heard.

"I already told you that it is mine, my mother gave that to me when I was leaving her pack to join this pack," Rebecca said.

"Then what is the inscription on the chain?"

"There is no inscription."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes I am."

"Then I am sorry to tell you that this is not your chain," Ronald said and with that he held the chain tightly in his hand and left the pack house and head straight to the passenger side of the black Audi.

"What is that?" his colleague asked him when he saw the chain dangling from Ronald palm.

"It is protection charm. See if you can get ahead of the bus and let us give this to the rightful owner," Ronald said as he closed the door and buckled himself.

David did not take long to meet up the bus and the bus driver stopped when he saw David flagging him down. Ronald give the chain to David and said, "Take this and give it to the fat, ugly looking girl."

"Yes sir," David said and took the chain from Ronald's hand, he got out from behind the drivers seat and head to the bus, the bus driver opened the door for him and he entered. David looked for the fat, ugly looking girl the Ronald told him about, he saw her sitting with her head leaning on the window of the backseat.

David walked up to her and dangled the chain in front of her, Angel saw the glitter and didn't take it on at first but then the inscription caught her eyes and she held the chain. Angel slid her finger over the inscription and then looked at the person that returned the chain to her, she simply smiled and nod at him before holding the chain in a firm grip.

David let go the chain as he just wondered if that was the way that she should show her appreciation by just nodding and smiling. David wanted to tell Angel something about her manners but instead he just let her be and got of the bus then returned to drive the Audi out of this god forsaken place that didn't even have proper electricity and other utilities.

While David was driving Ronald took a sleep and the journey would be a long one and during the night he would have to switch with David as they had to continue behind the bus all the way until they arrived at City A Royalty Hotel.
