Chapter 12: The Chain
Dinner was finished prepared after five, Angel and the three other ladies neatly packed and sealed the containers that the food was in before packing neatly inside a box for her to take home. Angel remembered that her travelling bag was in the living room so she returned to the living room, she noticed that the tall and muscular guy with blonde hair was not around together with Jeremy.
"Everything ready?" her godfather asked when he saw her.
Angel nodded and then pointed her travel bag, "Okay go ahead, dress nicely because there will be visitors there as well," he said as she walked away with the travel bag to the first guest room where she would normally stay whenever she was staying over.
Angel took a nice shower and dressed in a black fitted jeans, shy blue t-shirt, sneakers and white cardigan before putting the dirty clothes in a wash basket inside the room before combing her unlevelled black hair. She carried the bag out of the room with her and when she arrived in the living room she modelled for her godfather with a smile.
"Beautiful, I am sure there will be many that envy you," he said.
"Beautiful indeed," Leon said and walked over to her. He leaned forward as though to kiss her on her cheek as he winked but instead he just took the bag from her hand and then her backpack from on the ground by the leg of one of the sofas before walking out of the house with them.
"You like him," her godfather asked her as he saw the pink creeping up her cheeks, "No need to answer. I will get the food," he then said and walked towards the dining room and returned to with the box in his hands. "Come on, you are getting late to reach home," he said and then walked out the house.
Angel followed him to his car and when she arrived at the passenger door, the fair skinned, blue eyes young man opened the door for her and when she got in he even buckled the seat belt for her. This was the first time she was ever this close to any male before which caused her to blush more and even bite her bottom lip.
After Leon buckled her in he closed the door and then waved to her, he couldn't believe he just met his wife and mate and now he was giving her bye bye and he didn't know when he would get to see her again. He also wasn't sure if the next time he saw her, if he would recognize her because he could already sense that her body was already going through some change.
The drive from by her godfather was really an hour, that is if they were talking the main road, but instead her godfather look his private road that would reach the border of their pack territory which was a ten minutes drive and then there was another ten minutes drive through the territory to the back of the pack house.
The pack trusted Yin as they usually seek help from him whenever they were in trouble that they would allow him to enter and exit freely without questioning him. They arrived at the pack house in twenty minutes, Yin helped her offload her things and the food from in the car before he said, "When you go inside go straight to your room and pack everything that you will need in your bags. Forget the torn and old clothes, take all the new clothes, shoes, jewelry and all your books. Also make sure and take the chain that your godmother left for you, and always keep this and the chain on. They will protect you," he said before putting the beautiful platinum bracket with sapphire stones that matched the earrings that Leena had given her for her last birthday and the chain her godmother gave her before she took her last breath.
Yin helped Angel empty the food into the pack food containers before he put the now empty containers back in the box and left the kitchen and head to his car. Angel entered the dining room and saw that it was still empty so she quickly took the containers and laid them out on the table, then set up the cutleries on the table in front of each chair.
As soon as the last plate was set on the table Angel hurried back into the kitchen and grabbed her bags before rushing and locking herself inside the small closet room that she had to sleep in. She followed her godfather's instruction and pulled out the suitcase and duffle bag that her godfather had bought for her the year before because she had to leave the pack for five weeks and stay in City A for her examinations each semester.
Angel sorted out all the shoes and slippers she had and found there wasn't anything much, she then quickly removed the boards that was around the bottom of her bedframe where she pulled out all the things that she could of hide that the bus drivers and her god family gave her over the years and packed them in the suitcase. She then threw all her textbooks and notebooks in top of them neatly to hide the gifts.
From the way her godfather talked it meant that when she was leaving this time she shouldn't have anything left back that she would have to return for. She loved her mother and her both grandmothers but they were too weak to protect her and she was of the age to protect herself. She knew that her grandmothers would want her to escape this hell hole that her father and other pack members had made for her.
Angel was given a good forty minutes to pack all her things before she heard a knock on her room door, Angel was about to answer but then she remembered that everyone in the pack believed that she was a mute. She took an extra five minutes to check all her things and pack them in the suitcase and duffle bag. She opened her travel bag and removed all the torn clothes she had in it and replaced it with the remainder of the things that couldn't fit in her duffle bag and suitcase. Angel then took of the pair of earring and bracket and hid it in a corner of the bag before grabbing all the small padlocks she had secretly hid away and locked all the bags and suitcase.
Angel then slowly opened the door, Rebecca was leaning on the wall playing with a chain, Angel recognized it immediately as she had looked throughout her room for it but couldn't find it anyway. She wanted to snatch the chain but she would be risking her life before she could clearly escape the pack house.
"Time for dinner," Rebecca said in a very nice tone and peeked inside and saw the messy room as though someone was looking for something.
Angel looked back to see what she was looking at and thought that her luggage was seen but sighed when she just saw the messy room. "Looking for this," Rebecca taunted as she played with the chain, "It is very beautiful, isn't it?"
They had arrived in the dining room area and Rebecca had completely forgotten that they had a guest in the house as she made fun of Angel. "Rebecca," Rebecca name was called and she looked up to see her mother in law looking at her with a disapproving looking.
Rebecca was about to say something but then she saw the guest which reminded her that they weren't alone and the reason why Angel was even invited to eat dinner with them. She fixed the chain inside her clothes and smirk before taking her usual seat which was next to her mate Brad.
