Mr. Darin was surprised on that day because no one gave her any trouble throughout the ride all the way to City M and when they arrived at the bus stop next to the Royalty College did he wake her up as everyone seemed to be afraid. She woke up after being shaken for a few times by someone, when she opened her eyes and saw it was the driver she looked around to see where she was only to she that they had already arrived at her stop.
She noticed when she stood up that all the other passengers were watching her and they didn't make a sound, they even made sure that there was no one in her way as she was exiting the bus. It was only when she was getting of the bus did Mr. Darin saw the mark on the left side of her neck and he thought, 'It's starting again,' and sighed.
It sighed because he knew that the fights among the different packs, clans and other beings would stop for a year, but then the fights among all the girls that bare the mark of being selected to be the next queen would start. He said a silent prayer, 'Goddess please protect her,' as he looked up as he believed in the moon goddess.
The driver then made a note to visit the sorcerer after his shift ended so that the sorcerer would make protection charms for his two daughters that he believed would also be a part of the selection since his mate was vampire and one of the twins took after their mother while the other was a wolf like him. He also thought about the chubby, mute, black hair girl and made note that she would ask him to prepare and give her one.
He was sure that the charms would protect them against the evil deeds that the other girls may try to do upon them so that they would be eliminated from the selection in an unfair manner like how his two sisters were cheated in the selection process twenty one years prior. He thought that his daughters still had three years again to go before the selection started, but then who would of thought that the king already had a son when he was coronated to become the king twenty years ago.
After she was dropped off by the bus stop she walked into the campus and looked at the time, it was almost seven which gave her two hours time to do whatever she wanted to do before her class started at nine. The first place she headed was the laundry where she had a locker, she opened the locker and swiped the laundry card that her god-sister had got for her with the scholarship, she swiped it on the automatic machine desk computer so that one of the five washing machines to start for her to wash.
She heard the machine start to full while she took out the two travel size bags from in the locker and sort out the dirty clothes that was in the heavier bag. After she sort out the clothes she then head to the bathroom and took of the clothes that she was wearing and wrapped herself in the clean towel that she had and add the clothes she was previously wearing with the dirty clothes. While the first batch of clothes was washing she took a nice warm shower to wash away all the sweat and dirt from on her skin from the previous day and morning and then changed into the last clean seat of clothes she had in the other bag.
After changing she included the two bags and the towel in the batches to wash, as soon as a batch finished washing she placed them in the dryer and when they were finished in the dryer she folded them neatly until she got a dry bag to place the clean, warm and folded clothes inside of it. She then fold the other bag and placed it inside the side pocket of the bag she had the clean clothes in and returned the bag inside of the locker and locked it then headed out the laundry room with her backpack.
She saw the clock tower showing that it was half past eight which meant she still had half an hour before the lecture started at nine. She decided to head to the library to print her examination timetable for the final examinations that would start in two weeks time.
The security at the library recognized her as soon as he saw her walking to the library and allowed her to enter the library immediately as she was a regular there and sometimes she worked in the library as an assistant to put away the books that other students returned, left lying around or placed on the wrong shelf.
When she entered she left her bag on the securities desk and head straight to the computer lab and sat at the first computer that she saw was empty. She logged into her student account and sent to print the examination timetable, she then went through her student email and sent to print the notes, lectures and power point slides that some of the lecturers sent. She then opened the e-learning app on her account and sent to print all the assignment, tutorial and note sheets before logging off her account.
She then went to the computer that operates the printer and amount in her student account and entered her student number and password to see all the documents she sent to print. As soon as she sent the last document to print she saw that her student account had a balance of zero dollars and zero cents. She was glad that she didn't have to print or do anymore courses to complete her degree after this semester.
She then looked at the time on the clock that was on the wall behind the computer lab technician and saw that she only had ten minutes again before her lecture started at nine. She hurried and grabbed the documents that printed from the printer, she was glad that the printer had the staple setting so all the documents were stapled accordingly.
She then hurried out of the computer lab and grabbed her backpack by the security before heading to lecturer room where the lecture was held in the social sciences third building first floor. As she entered the lecture room she heard the lecturer say, "Angel White," as everyone looked at her upon her entry in the lecture room.
Angel's name was the last name in the roll call so when the lecturer and the others saw her they were surprise to see her rushing in because normally Angel would be the first to arrive at the lecture room and sitting in her usual seat. Today was no exception as everyone though she was already there and was shock to see that she was the late one and it was the last lecture in top of it.
The lecturer shook her head and said, "Hurry and take a seat," to Angel before she started saying, "Now class, this is the last lecture of the semester, for some of you this may be your last semester at Royalty College and for some it may be your second to last year. As you all know I do not give hints on the last lecture as the hints I give are throughout the semester for each topic. So for those of you who are only here to get the hints, I am sorry to disappoint you and all I can do is wish all of you good luck. For this lecture we will be …." Mrs. Gibbs started the lecture shortly after, but during all the small talk it gave Angel enough time to get a seat and take out her broken glasses, stationary, textbook and notebook.
Angel took note of everything Mrs. Gibbs said so that she would be able to pass the course as well since she didn't want to repeat the course again and deter her chance of getting her scholarship to attend Royalty University that was in Country A. She remembered the first time she got her scholarship to attend Royalty College that the administrative officer told her that if she continued to perform well then she would be able to sign up for a scholarship to attend Royalty University to do her degree and masters.
Angel had the dream of advancing herself beyond just secondary school education level and was fortunate enough to already be able to do her degree at the Royalty College which eventually motivated her to want to learn more and that was why she was working do hard to get the scholarship, it was also her means of escaping her pack and to have a better life. So since then she had applied for the scholarship for her masters at Royalty University and had been working extra hard to keep her grades at the top of all the courses she did.
She had already received a honors award from her dean in the first year and she expected to receive another one this year. There were many that envied her performance in all her courses but they never took advantage of her because she was mute as well as they couldn't get a chance to catch her outside of the lecture room because she was usually the first to enter and last to leave the lecture room.
Angel knew the lecture was coming to an end when she heard Mrs. Gibbs say, "The final examination has three sections, sections one and two has two parts each while section three consist of twenty five multiple choice questions. Just to inform you all these papers are set by the university itself and not us the lecturers here. Just like you, I have not seen the examination paper but I know the structure of the paper. Section one part one has three case study questions and you get to choose one, part two has five short answer questions, section two part one has ten fill in the black and ten true or false questions. Remember your course work was only forty percent of your final marks and the final paper is the remaining sixty percent. However, those of you that have not acquired more that twenty percent in the course work will be withheld from doing the final examination. Also remember that you have to get at least forty percent of the final paper to pass the course, I wishing you all the best and may your two weeks of study break help you all to complete this course. Class dismiss, oh right, Angel please stay back."
Angel slowly packed her things in her backpack before walking to the front of the lecture room. It still had around ten students waiting to talk to Mrs. Gibbs and it seemed as though they couldn't finish asking questions about the course and different topics. Angel watched her almost nine months pregnant lecturer get up from behind her desk and packed her things while answering their questions. Angel walked over to Mrs. Gibbs and helped her hold her things.
"Did you all attend all my lectures throughout the semester?"
"Miss I missed a few because of some family emergency."
"Did the family emergency happen abroad?"
"Miss …." the girl that was in her late teens wanted to defend herself but she couldn't come up with a better excuse.
"Miss I missed about two because my vehicle was down and it was by the mechanic for about two weeks."
"What about you?" she asked the third girl that was with the other two.
"I missed two because of water shortage in my area for almost three weeks."
"Miss I didn't have electricity to wash my clothes," a boy that was standing among the ten said.
"No more excuses from you all, you could have get the notes from another student in the lecture. None of these excuses would work because there is someone that I knowing attending this college that does not have their own transportation, electricity or water and lives two hours from here by bus and yet that individual is always here even if they are sick and their grades are always in the nineties. If you all are expecting me to give you all hints for the examination, I am sorry to disappoint you all. Angel let us go," Mrs. Gibbs said and started walking out of the lecture room with Angel following behind her leaving the other speechless in the lecture room.
When it was just Angel and Leena walking to the lecturers building, Leena said, "Your godfather has requested you to visit this afternoon. I am not sure why but I can take you home after father is finished speaking with you. I will also get the maids to prepare enough dinner for you to take home. I have also received a package for you, I will give you it in the car. I will wait for you in front by the library at half past two, so be on time. I don't want Jeremy and father to be worried that something has happened to us."
Angel just smiled and nod her head because it was enough time for her to attend her one hour tutorial and then to head to the laundry room to get her things and return at the library. "Do you have a class now?" Leena asked.
Angel shock her head to say no, "What time?" Angel showed her one finger, "Okay, but is almost one already. Go ahead to class and we would get something for you to eat on the way home." Angel then pulled out the sandwich that the bus driver gave her in the morning, "Okay eat that, but I will still get you something to eat on our way home. I have to stop by the supermarket anyways."
