Chapter 4: What could have happen
there has to be another way. the world is wide and the possibilities are endless.
"so you're saying Jacob will be quitting and will start writing on his own?"
she replied with a single 'mmm' at Pat's question. she was sitting opposite to Pat. they are now at the cafeteria for their lunch. Lei force herself to eat though she didn't have much of an appetite. she feel like she's wasting money if she wouldn't finish it so she ended up shoving food to her mouth on a lifeless way.
"does he know how to write though?"she shrug.
"good thing you have yourself enrolled before he decided on that. cheer up Lei,this is the last sem and we'll be graduating in no time"
Pat's sentence made her feel better. he's right. there's no need to be anxious. she doesn't have to be worried about tuitions anymore. she had it paid after Jacob quit. plus,this is the last time she'll pay tuition because after this semester,she's finally graduating.
"but what about after graduating?do you have any plans?how will you find a job?"
the happiness she felt awhile ago because of him quickly extinguished and it was by his words too.
"you really know how to kill someone's joy huh"
frustrated,she left Pat with a confused look on his face.

She took out her journal as she settled in wide vacant lot inside the school. away from the bustling school grounds,away from the bitches who think mighty of themselves and away from the troubles she'll face later.
She open it and a piece of paper fell. Lei take a good look at it and saw the cursive handwriting. 'Lilein Lewis'. taking a deep sigh,she fold it back in four and hide it between her other books. she tried writing something on the journal but memories of the letter came flooding on her mind. she can't seem to focus so Lei allow her self sunk on the past,remembering her tender years on the province.
Lei clearly remember the day she received the letter. a face of a young boy in his clean long sleeved polo and slacks with a pair of black shoes is what she recalled. she remember herself in a yellow flowy dress and doll shoes. her hair is untied and the ribbon on her back was neatly done.
it was a clear sunny day on the 8th of May. the mass had just finished. Lei decided to take a walk on the church garden while his parents are busy chatting with their churchmates. it was a bright cloudy day and she was on a good mood. she saw a swing on the center of the garden. Lei sat on the other side and begin swinging herself slowly. not so long when a boy arrived and took the swing next to her. she didn't pay attention nor look at him and just glued hes eyes on the ground while swinging slowly. however,the boy's eyes was glued to her,his body not moving at all.
He then stand and hold onto Lei's swing to stop it from swinging. Lei look up and saw him. she trembled.
"W-what?" she let out a trembling voice. "read this when you get home" he handed a paper folded into 3 in a landscape manner. in front,there is a cursive writing 'Lelein Lewis' written on it. after Lei took it,he turn around and took large strides exiting the garden,leaving Lei behind.
the boy he like,just gave her a letter. she couldn't believe it. but what letter is it?is it really a love letter? she unfolded the paper,revealing the alphabets written carefully. she read it and once finish,she was in tears.
Lei blink. she was brought back to reality. she collect her things and got up. she decided to go home and just sleep. on her way out,she thought,if she didn't leave the town,what would happen?that boy,what would have happen to them?
