Nevada, 21:43pm, international airport. The moon illuminates the desert surrounding the airport making the sand almost glitter and highlights the modern building. I sit at the window of a plane lost in thought a man sits beside me as we all wait for takeoff.
As the plane took off I started to get excited and nervous for what was to come. This was it. I was finally getting away from making the same bouquets over and over again for bad tempered, rude customers at my mums flower shop. I was also finally leaving that horrible night job at the casino behind me as well, seriously no one gets paid enough for the amount of crap the staff there have to go through especially when most costumers are either drunk or high. Luckily I found a better job in Seoul through the help of an old friend.
However, there is one thing that I will genuinely miss from that nightmare of a place, my mum. She is my only living relative other than my so called father who's name I don't care to mention. She has been with me through everything, so when I was accepted to a university out of state she wasn't thrilled. She hated the idea of being away from me for so long and I understood why as we were all each other had, so I stayed and studied business management at a local collage instead. As strong as my mum is, she has one major flaw, she fears being alone. I blame it all on him. The man who decided to ruin his entire life along with ours. She loved him with everything she had, where as the longer I knew him the more I hated him. She deserves a lot more than what she ended up with and another chance at happiness unlike some people. It was nice of him to stay long enough so that I'd remember him when he'd leave.
Enough, positivity is key at these moments supposedly, but then again soo much could go wrong like its ridiculous when you think about it,I could lose all my luggage, money, find out the job is a scam or get lost and end up stranded. Oh well, those sound like future me's problems let's just hope for the best. Then again what if it's just stupid stuff that drives me insane like hating the job, or the client oh god this is making my head spin...
"Hey, you okay?", "Hm, oh yeah just a headache, thanks for asking." I look next to me to see the man that sat down earlier, he is worriedly looking at me with his warm eyes. "Do you need anything?", "No,I'll be okay thanks." I give him a small smile to ease his worry, "Okay, what's your name?", "Claire and you?", "Nam-joon." , "Nice to meet you Nam-joon?, did I say that right?", "You too and yeah, you said it right." He's looking at me a little puzzled which is weird but eh I'm too lazy to ask why. Nam-joon's mind: does she not know who I am?, interesting.
As he is looking at me I take a moment to really see him, he's quite tall with nice, clear, olive skin and has dyed pink hair, which is a bit random but each to their own. We talked for a while and realised that we have a few things in common like the fact that we are both going to Seoul for work and that we are of a similar age him being a year older than me. It was a good distraction to talk to him as by the end of the flight I didn't feel nervous anymore but then it dawned on me I'll never see him again.
After 13 hours we had finally arrived in Seoul, South Korea first things first, find my suitcase, none of my stuff better be missing. I said my goodbyes to Nam-joon as he stayed on the plane to get his friends and I went to the baggage area.
You know I've always been intimidated by airports something about them just scares me a bit particularly when your in a foreign one where not everyone speaks English and there are so many wrong directions you can walk in. I grab my suitcase from the belt and walk out to find a taxi at the front.
I Jumped in a taxi and took in the sights as we drove through Seoul, it was impressive. The buildings further out were older and had a unique charm to them where as the main city was covered in more modern and state of the art buildings.
After paying for the taxi I walked into the reception area of the building and seen a woman at the desk. She was really pretty and smiled at the sight of a guest, "Hi there, what can I do for you?" she asked in almost perfect English, "Hi, I'm Claire, I'm moving into one of your apartments today.", "Oh okay I'll just check which one it is, one moment please." "Sure." While she checked the system I looked around the room cause you know I'm a little nosy and see this couple walking in. They were a good looking pair and seemed quite happy bringing a slight curve to my lips.
I got the key and went to my apartment, "Well, this is me." I say to myself as I open the door to my new place. I was flabbergasted, it was so nice! the living area was big and already furnished with modern decor along with every other room in the place. Time to check out the bedroom i think to myself as I bolt to the first door. I open it and am met with the biggest bed I have ever seen yeessss!!!! I love you Seoul!
Right ok time to unpack and rest I have a big day ahead of me tomorrow after all, it is my first day on the job.
