Chapter 23: #21 Return
It was already 2 days after the fight and Ren finally regained consciousness. He could see how Shell, Shadow and even Hawke were looking at him with worry.
"I am fine, I just needed rest" Ren said to make their eyes full of worry disappear since he didn't feel comfortable being watched like that.
"It's good that your mastery over water energy is almost at master level or you would need to rest a lot more to heal all your wounds" Shell said in cheerful mood since Ren was fine.
"What happened while I was unconscious?" Ren asked them.
"Not much, just that I was able to absorb that beast but I am still in phase of processing all of it's energy. When I will process everything you might even gain master level control over wind but that will take some time" One who decided to answer Ren's question was Hawke.
"I see, that's good. I guess we should get going, we spent here more time than I wanted." Ren said while getting up.
When he was getting ready to go he saw Shell looking at him with eyes that screamed "expectation".
"If you are waiting for sentence 'I am sorry for worrying you' then I doubt that me and you have so long lifespan to wait." Ren said in cold tone and continued to get ready for way back to Capital.
Shell just giggled and said: "You still knew what I wanted to hear."
'Aren't they too close to each other considering one is human and other is spirit?' Hawke who was listening to their conversation asked Shadow through telepathy.
Shadow looked at Hawke and rolled his eyes.
'She is just teasing, get used to it.' Shadow answered and followed after Ren and Shell.
------Capital------
Esdeath was summoned by Honest due to her request about finding suitable man for her.
"General Esdeath, with preferences you have written down it was pretty hard find man like that but I was still able to find someone like that or at least close to your preferences." Honest said
"Really?" Esdeath asked in excited voice. She thought that they found Ren, she didn't even bother to describe his appearance since she knew that her preferences were already too specific.
"Yes, the one who is probably closest to your preferences is no other than Ryu who I want you to work with. I also heard that he is extremely handsome maybe you can form good relationship with him if he decide to take the job to help you." Honest said to excited Esdeath
'Again this guy?! Hmpf' Esdeath's mood immediately dropped down.
"I understand, thank you for your help prime minister. Have you already called for my new subordinates with Teigu?" Esdeath said while trying to mask her disappointed expression.
"Of course, they should arrive to Capital very soon, then you can start with cleaning this land of rebels" Honest answered.
Esdeath nodded and went her way but while walking she held her hand on chest and thought: 'Ren, I know we will meet again I can feel it. It feels like you are the only one in this world who can keep in check my bloodlust and voices that are telling me to kill everything.'
------Kurome's PoV------
'I can't wait for reunion with sister, I hope she will be happy too hehe' Kurome thought.
She was currently on her way to Capital due to summoning from Emperor. But when she was happily eating her snacks she saw lone figure coming from forest joining her on the road. She wanted to ignore that person at first but when she felt pressure that person was emitting she simply had to observe him. She could see that person, he was handsome young man but what attracted her attention were his cold blue eyes.
Kurome herself didn't even know that she unconsciously came near him to observe him from better angle.
------MC's PoV------
Ren was walking through woods trying to find road that could lead him to Capital. When he finally found road he spotted another person traveling on the same road. He was bit surprised by person's appearance.
'Kurome? So it is already time for Jaegers?' Ren thought and formed smirk for moment but decided not to start any conversation since he had no reason, at most he was interested in her Teigu's power to reanimate corpses. After a while he noticed Kurome coming near him but he ignored it since he didn't feel any malicious intent from her.
'Wow she is totally checking you out Ren, you need to come up with good pick up line! ' Shell didn't forget to tease.
Ren rolled his eyes and stopped walking. He turned his head at Kurome and asked her: "What is it?"
'What?! Is that your best pick up line?! I guess i will have to teach you later.' Shell still teased and Shadow and Hawke were already embarrassed by their friend.
Kurome now realised how close she was looking at him.
"Ah, I am sorry for my behavior. I was just interested who would willingly travel alone on these dangerous roads" Kurome said after backing away a bit.
'Hmm I could use her for my revenge against Akame. If I trained with her a bit, made her stronger, it could make a good show when she would fight Akame' Ren recalled that he still didn't pay back to Akame but his thoughts were interrupted by Kurome.
"Anyway my name is Kurome"
"Hm, Ren"
Both of them intruduced themselves but after that awkward silence followed.
'Ok, this trip back will be very long' Shell thought while Shadow and Hawke could only nod their heads.
In entire trip Kurome started conversation few times since she was pretty bored and someone was closeby to talk. Thanks to this she was able to understand a bit what kind of person Ren was.
After whole day they arrived at Capital and parted their ways. Ren went to guild since it was kinda habit already.
