Chapter 19: #17 Ren vs Esdeath
Both Ren and Esdeath were staring at each other, they didn't need to say anything to understand each other's intentions.
Esdeath created her ice spears and send them towards Ren. On other side Ren already used his wind cloak and ignored small spears that didn't have enough penetration power to pierce through his cloak, as for other spears he just dodged them or created few small Wind blades to intercept them.
But strange thing was that neither of them had intention to kill. They were using mortal blows but both somehow knew that it wasn't enough to kill each other.
Esdeath saw that her ice spears had little effect so she changed tactic and used her rapier and attacked Ren's right shoulder but he was able to parry the blow, right after their weapons met Esdeath created small ice dagger in and went for slash at Ren's left eye, Ren already predicted her using such trick as ice weapons therefore he could easily avoid strike.
When Esdeath saw that Ren was able to avoid that strike so easily her eyes became little bit bright. She wanted to test how strong this man is, so she decided to start making bigger moves. She increased her movement speed and also attack speed when she saw that Ren was steadily parrying or evading her attacks while making few of his own, she couldn't hold herself back anymore and jumped high and created smaller meteor of ice and send it toward Ren.
When Ren saw meteorite he frowned a bit and focused a lot of wind energy into his Wind blades and slashed with his saber towards meteorite. To Esdeath's surprise when she thought she had gone too far Ren slashed with his saber and she saw how her meteorite got split in 2 halves. Ren was surprised by new thing he found, when Esdeath used stronger ice attacks his understanding of Water energy was getting much better.
'This woman...I need to use her for my mastery over Water energy' Ren thought
Ren wanted to try using his Water techniques against her but he only mastered Eternal mist and Water coating. Since her army was nearby he couldn't use Eternal mist, although it had great range and was practically unbreakable but he already knew of it's weakness, more people = more energy.
'I have to use Water coating on sabre, although it's more for defense, I don't really care if I will get better understanding of Water energy' Ren thought while evading and parrying blows from Esdeath.
Ren changed his weapon coating from wind to water and started destroying Esdeath's spears.
'It's really faster than before' Ren happily thought.
Their fight was getting even more destructive and Empire army had to retreat while having their jaws dropped to the ground.
'In this world actually exist monster who can fight with general?' All of them thought, even Three Beasts weren't exception.
Three Beasts even wanted to help their General but when they saw her happy expression they abandoned the plan.
As fight progressed Ren even forgot about his mastery over Water energy and just went wild in fight since this was first time he could go almost all out. He was actually smiling, not mocking one, not maniacal one, he was actually smiling like normal happy person.
'This is first time actual person made me go all out' Ren thought happily but was immediately interrupted by Shadow's voice in his head.
'Ren what the hell are you doing? If you are going to spend more time fighting with that woman you will lose all Death energy you gathered!'
Esdeath who was also enjoying their fight saw how Ren stopped and she was already in great synergy with Ren that she stopped too. She then saw black raven land on Ren's shoulder.
'It's not normal raven' Esdeath thought while being on guard until she heard Ren's cold voice
"I would like to continue our fight but it seems that circumstances won't allow that."
"What's your name? So we can resume our fight later!" Esdeath said aloud trying to be dominant one.
But everyone in army was extremely surprised...Everyone knew very well that general's personality wasn't good one, at least not against her enemies and mainly against strong opponents. She always dominate her enemies but now she actually agreed to enemy and it wasn't even plea or request.
But Ren had other thoughts: 'She is worthy opponent I can use to get stronger, with her strength she has right to know my name but I can't decide only by that. Night Raid already knows both my names so I reckon that empire will know soon too. It's not really like I care now that I got strong enough.'
"Ren" Ren said and instantly left with his Flash step.
'So it wasn't his fastest speed in fight' Esdeath was surprised when she was Ren disappear like that.
'Ren...Who are you? Why I felt like I wouldn't be able to dominate over him, it's frustrating while good feeling.' Esdeath thought while gripping area near her heart.
Empire army was standing there like a statues waiting for their general's orders. After few minutes Esdeath recovered and issued order "Lets conquer few more cities, I need to go back to Capital earlier."
'I will definitely find him and dominate over him!' Esdeath swore to herself.
In nearby forest:
"Why were you so focused on that fight? If I didn't warn you, you would lose all Death energy you absorbed" Shadow asked Ren
But before Ren could answer, Shell answered for him.
"I don't think it was a fight he was so focused on" Shell said in teasing manner.
Ren only looked coldly at Shell and answered to Shadow: "My bad, it was my first fight I really enjoyed and I lost control."
"So you really didn't think with your brain. After all her figure was one of the best I ever saw, even that Leone girl can't compare to her" Shell said in teasing manner once more.
Ren ignored Shell comments and decided to go meditate to achieve his last level of mastery over Death energy.

When Ren masters his Death energy should Shadow:
1. Be able to transform to weapon?
2. Be able to forge some weapons (not as good as fire spirit)?
3. Be able to transform to humanoid figure?
