The trio had been walking in silence for several hours. The only one not showing signs of weariness was Vincent, who was currently snuggled up on Ibis' arms.
"You comfortable Vinny?" Loretto asked clearly hinting that he should get up and walk
"Very," Vincent answered pretending not to get it he here not to get the hint.
'Hasn't even been married for a day and already getting protective.' Vincent thought, rolling his eyes.
"Vinny?" Ibis wondered aloud, "I thought your name was Vincent."
"Correct . My name is Vincent. No last name, because I have no family. Loretto calls me 'Vin' or 'Vinny' because he's the closest thing I have to family. And I him." Vincent said. His eyes grew more and more with the each word.
Turning to Loretto Ibis asked, "Does that mean your only family is Vincent? Do you not have a last name?"
"Yes. And no." Loretto said, voice grim, "I was born without a family. The only reason me and him ever met was because that was the same for him."
"Y'all have such sad stories. " Ibis said half to herself, "Makes me worry if I've been a pampered all my life."
"The way you walk and hold yourself I can't imagine that being true." Loretto said.
Vincent nodded in agreement.
Once again the group walked in silence.
They continued to walk until they reached a karst leading outside.
Loretto gave a sigh, awed by the beauty of the view.
The tunnel which had been murky instantly brightened by the raising sun turning the karst into a yellow haze.
Turning around he saw Ibis. He thought she was pretty before, but looking at her in this light it was safe to say her looks were tripled in comparison.
Sensing his gaze Ibis turned. The image of the unrivaled beauty gained a nice touch when the cat in her arms gave a cute yawn. The scene would have made many man drop to their knees and propose.
When Vincent woke up he noticed that he was cuddled against a pillow-y softness. It didn't take long to realize that he was cuddled against Ibis'.....!
Loretto immediately snatched Vincent away, in doing so he startled Ibis.
It took Ibis only moments to find the reason behind Loretto's actions. She felt her cheeks heat up.
Turning away she stated, "This is one of the few entrances to our- your kingdom. "
"You were right the first time," Loretto said grabbing hold of her hand and placing Vincent(now in the form a mouse) on his shoulder, "It is our kingdom. "
And with that they walked out of the tavern and into the kingdom.
"We aren't in Kansas anymore." Vincent whispered.
