Prologue
Haneda, 5th May 2019.
8:09 AM
"Hello? Mom, I'm here."
"Great! That's my daughter. Just stay where you are, your husband is going to pick you up."
"Mom, are you drunk? It's just 8 AM."
"You know exactly what I am talking about. Anyway, I'm busy cooking right now. See you later!"
"Wait—"
Sigh.
She hung up.
"It's been a long time, Tokyo," I mumbled as I looked up to the blue sky outside. It's such a good day to take a stroll outside and enjoy the breeze as well as reminisce the good old days I had before I decided to study abroad. By now, mom should clearly know my intention coming here is no other than rejecting the marriage. Well, and looking for a job. But really, the only thing that urges me to fly back here as soon as possible is the marriage. I have just finished my graduation ceremony and received the nonsense message from my brother. He said my mom has been talking about my arranged marriage with her best friend's son, to the point they almost arrange everything from the wedding location to the honeymoon.
That was totally insane.
I had to reject several jobs offers just for the sake of coming back home to talk things out. I know this would be a long talk and she won't give in to what I say so easily, that's why I decided to move back home. Now, she even told me that my husband would come to pick me? That's too bad, mom. I ain't waiting for him and also, he doesn't even know where I am. While I was waiting for the taxi, there's a group of girls ran through me and my luggage. They were aggressive, made me lose balance and bumped into somebody behind me.
"I-m sorry.."
I was apologizing until he pushed me away.
"Auch.. it hurts" I cried softly. Yes. He pushed me away and I fell to the ground.
Not that I was expecting him to apologize, but at least he should've caught me instead of pushing me. After all, I didn't purposely bump him. Secondly, he should be offering some sort of help because he did cause me to fall.
But he didn't.
He walked away hurriedly.
I was trying to stand but I couldn't. My ankle sprained and it hurts so much. Crazy enough, I was even thinking of calling my mom and asked the supposed to be my husband to come and help. I tried standing up again with the help of some strangers who were kind enough to assist me and even ask if I need to go to the hospital. After I left the hospital, I realized that I missed something.
"My coffee!" I almost screamed inside the car.
I remember I was waiting while holding a cup of coffee to keep me awake but where did it go?
